    The Indian Violet is a wonderful fossorial spider from India , it is often referred to as the prettiest of the chilobrachys family
    As an Old World spider these are a little skittish but once settled they can be quit a showy spider and make very extensive webbing creating a lovely enclosure .

    I was TERRIFIED of spiders and to desensitize myself to them and the fear I started watching your videos...The first one I had to stop watching after a few minutes because I felt like I had spiders all over me LOL. Now I can watch to the end without stopping or shivering. Thank you for your caring of such beautiful creatures. :)

    The variation in timing of an egg sack being dropped is fascinating. In nature, I am familiar with these variations being about food availability, but these guys have routine, and consistent availability of food. As you say, there’s still much to learn about our “octi-ped” friends. Thanks for sharing this video.

    Awesome video man! WOW! 249 eggs with legs! That`s a lot! No wonder mom gave it up so easily! I would want to get rid of that many kids lol, your problem now, haha!!
    You handled this really well, as usual Dave!
    Could we get a video/update on the sand spider Dave? I can`t spell the scientific name for the life of me, i think it`s sicarius or something like that. That`s one of my favourite true spiders Dave, shame you have so few videos on them. Speaking of videos, i`ve watched every single video that you`ve ever released. So at the end of your videos when it says: watch another video, i`m like: ya but i`ve watched all of them haha!

    Hi Dave! New to your channel, very interesting to watch! Can this female breed again? I might be wrong but I thought most females can only breed once but what do I know? We have tiny house spiders that are mostly in the basement. I wouldn’t call them pets but we pretty much leave them alone. Thanks again! 🙂

    • @daveslittlebeasties
      @daveslittlebeasties  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Welcome to our channel and yes these will all breed again females live for 12 years or more 👍

    • @ArDeeMee
      @ArDeeMee 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, it‘s usually the males who will breed once, due to their accidental death rate… a female needs only a single male per molt, storing the sperm for whenever she‘s ready. Theoretically, she can drop several batches with one successful pairing! But after her next molt, all the sperm is gone with the old hide and she has to pair again.

    What a clutch, so healthy looking. Fascinating that it took her so long, would make an interesting study, are the eggs fertilsed straight away, and kept in a type of stasis until conditions right. Do you know how long the sperm is viable for? Spider reproduction. Well, who would have thought that I would find this so fascinating!!. Thanks Dave, first class vid yet again.👍👍❤️

    I wonder if the female produces an egg sack regardless of being fertilized, but then can be fertilized by a male at any time whilst the egg sack is developing, so if you have introduced a male when shes far along in the egg sack development it would seem to drop quick, and vice versa,
    I know with Preying Mantids they produce ooths regardless of being fertilized, but can be fertilized at any time whilst they are producing the eggs in their abdomens
    I guess its very different when we look at human females who have ALL her eggs ready in her teens, then release 1 a month, whereas spiders and such must make them from scratch every time,
    its very interesting stuff Dave

    • @daveslittlebeasties
      @daveslittlebeasties  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they can be fertilised at any time and yes I think its worth leaving some species longer after a moult before trying too pair ❤️👍

    I think it's about the 'Time of the Year' or outside climate that plays part in spider breeding. In some species like balfouris, even if you'll keep the spiders same, they often seem to sense that wintery outside climate.

    will you have to separate them into 2 incubators as they get bigger or do you put them into their own little pots as they sell ?
