As a Hoosier living in Los Angeles, whenever I find a place that serves Sugar Cream Pie ...I gotta try it. It's one of those overlooked and underestimated pies that once someone tries it, they can't believe they've missed out on it all this time. The same might be said for the Pork Tenderloin Sandwich! Good job on sugar cream pie. As a native New Yorker, top food items are New York pizza (with extra cheese & pepperoni if you like), New York cheesecake (either plain or with fruit topping), bagels with cream cheese & lox, Reuben sandwich, Waldorf salad (Waldorf-Astoria hotel), Coney Island hot dog (Brooklyn), pastrami sandwich with sauerkraut on rye bread, & Buffalo wings (Buffalo, New York).
The dish you are using is what I would call a tart pan. Our pie pans/plates are round but the sides are typically flat (not fluted) and angled (top wider than the bottom). That’s how we get nice wedges of pie to serve. Tastes the same but I find it easier to dish out of a pie pan. All that said, great job on my state dish. Much love to both of you and the kitties 😘
Yeah I was thinking the same thing with the pan. Have been watching Season 12 of MasterChef and noticed Bri use a similar dish for her Strawberry Pistachio Tart.

I live in Texas but was raised in Indiana. Sugar cream pie in our family was a Thanksgiving dessert and treat. My oldest sister made 4-6 each year, best dessert on planet to me. She taught my daughters and nieces the recipe, handing it down for future generations. And I laughed so hard when Ricky spilled the cinnamon but there's no such thing as too much. Really enjoyed this video, made me homesick. But there's 950 miles between Texas and my hometown in Indiana which equals 19hrs of driving or 3 flying

In Winchester Indiana there is a company (Wicks) that makes sugar cream pie and pecan pie among others. It is pretty good and we usually have it around the holidays.

Indiana Hoosier transplanted to Tennessee… and these peeps down here have never heard of sugar cream pie 😮 Love it! When you make the tenderloin sandwiches, be sure to use the “meat beater” to mash those tenderloins out until they’re double the size of your buns if you’re breading them! 🙌
OMG, Recky, that happened to me, but with pepper! You did a great job, and the pie looks delicious! I always put dishes without handles on a baking sheet to make it easier to put in and take out of the oven safely. I dropped a casserole dish, and the hot food went everywhere.

I live in New York (Upstate NY). We don’t have an official state dish, just lots of foods we're known for. I agree with lots already mentioned, like NY cheesecake, pizza, Buffalo wings etc. My favorite dish from my region is the Spiedie chicken, which is chicken cut into cubes and marinated overnight in a mix of olive oil, lemon juice, white vinegar, garlic, parsley, basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Then you grill or bake the chicken and serve on bread rolls. Or on salad. Or plain with sides.
I'm from the same area! They where originally with lamb but chicken and pork are the most common now. where are you? I'm in the BInghamton area and miss Sharkey's spiedies the most, so sad when they closed!

New York style cheese cake is pretty popular, But, you’ll need a spring form pan, where the sides open away from the bottom. And also, lots of cream cheese. Neufchâtel cheese can also be used if you find it difficult to find the cream cheese.

That Sugar Cream Pie looked a lot like a Creme Brulee when you were done. I love Creme Brulee. It also made me think of an old Amish recipe I have for Vinegar Pie, which is actually really good. I used to make it for my wife's uncle that loved it as well before he died.

Hi from another Carol! I live in the area where spiedies (pronounced speedeez) originated, the Triple Cities region (Binghamton, Johnson City, Endicott). Carol you will love them, very garlicy!! We eat them on good crusty Italian bread or rolls or put the chunks of cooked marinated meat onto salads for a meal that way, too!

Recky, I can't tell you how many times those spice bottles have betrayed me that way. They're sneaky little cusses that way. At least it was cinnamon and sugar, not black pepper (say for instance) Looks fantastic!
Honestly, sometimes overdoing the spices is called for because recipes don't take personal preference for flavors into account. Granted that was a LOT but I would've totally added more than necessary. Looks fabulous!!!

Hello from Denver I know that all those video clips say that the State dish for Colorado is Rocky mountain oysters well as a third generation native who also has three more generations of my family living here that's younger than me I can tell you that that is not true! Lol we have a high Hispanic population in Colorado so hatch or Pueblo green chilies are the best representation of Colorado so from Colorado I request that you make chicken Verde it's really good it's not too spicy and it's pretty easy to make if you have the ingredients I would suggest doing something like that or anything with green chilies

It's a simple pie to make and, it's pretty tasty!! Even though I'm a native Hoosier, i still like pecan better😅 or a good rhubarb (no strawberries).

Hello from Denver I know that all those video clips say that the State dish for Colorado is Rocky mountain oysters well as a third generation native who also has three more generations of my family living here that's younger than me I can tell you that that is not true! Lol we have a high Hispanic population in Colorado so hatch or Pueblo green chilies are the best representation of Colorado so from Colorado I request that you make chicken Verde it's really good it's not too spicy and it's pretty easy to make if you have the ingredients I would suggest doing something like that or anything with green chilies
