Today we take on Thailand's biggest Phat kaphrao (Pork & Holy Basil Stir-fry (Pad Kra Pao)) challenge! Featuring a large amount of stir fried chicken, fried beef and pork and of course lovely spicy Thai chili's, holy basil, garlic lots of rice and even an egg omelette! Today we had what was supposed to be 19 minutes but turned in 15 minutes to eat this spicy food challenge in order to get the 500 Baht cash prize, and the meal for free, or just free if eaten in 30! We are at Big Boodle in Bangkok Thailand. The challenge is supposed to have 1.2kg rice, and 1.2meat and then the eggs. However, The meal was made with a larger amount of rice than advertised as well (1.5kg, an extra 300g), but I didn't even bother mentioning to the staff. The meal cost about 300 Baht which is about $10 USD if failed and was said to feed about 6-8 people standardly. Can we defeat this spicy chili pork food challenge? Or will this fried chicken and fried pork challenge beat us? The staff were friendly here at "Big Noodles" and i did enjoy the food and hospitality!

This is one of the things i like most about Joel, regardless of time limits he never goes into the food like a starved maniac. Had a friend who had the same problem with rice, he had problems getting it down, felt like he was choking. The resturant did you dirty, lowering the minutes and upping the amount, but you still killed it. Great job Joel, as always.

Having a menu of any kind showing prices or conditions completely different than what you're being handed is not only insulting here but technically illegal ( I know restaurants that have been fined for false advertising ). If I were you, after the challenge I woulda been like " I beat in 15 minute! You pay 500bot Nau! "
Hello Joel, thanks for helping promote Thai food. Actually, pickled chili in vinegar is meant to be eaten with noodles. Thai people might find it a bit strange that you eat pickled chili in vinegar with Pad Kra Pao, but if you're okay with it and can enjoy it, there's nothing wrong with that. Typically, Pad Kra Pao is eaten with Nam Pla Prik (fish sauce with chilies) on the side, rather than pickled chili in vinegar.
So you want to give everyone a lesson in Thai cuisine ........ how about addressing the cheaters ? ....... not so good at that ?

Joel 10 sips of water wo taking a breath. It always works. Water, then a burp, then hiccups are gone. Always works.
I have a Scared stomach sphincter for better part of 2 decades and food always gets cought in my throat giving me the silent choke, what i found works well to wash the stuck food down is a thick juice like lots of pulp orange juice or a smoothie and then if need to help wash that down water.

*Reducing the time limit is a really good idea for bigger rewards & cash prizes. To push yourself harder than usual in a eating challenge is like "foodception.." Ultimately it's a challenge within a challenge & I have never known of another competitive eater attempting to do this. Once I do though, I'll know they would have stolen your idea. Joel just created the newest meta in eating challenges, because NOW competitive eaters can do past challenges while using this concept.
