I want "occult" to be good so bad, all I can think is retrained letters or a link Necrofear/new destiny board that gains effects that locks your opponent the more letters you get
I think it's cool when they add support like that. Destiny Board always felt like such a let down when the anime made it seem so powerful. Anyway, I agree with another comment that you could do a "Why Somebody Plays" for rogue strategies.
Destiny Board looks powerful in the anime for the same reason a lot of "antagonist of the week" cards do: almost nobody runs destruction effects in the show.
A few proposals for why nobody plays: -most structure decks -Raigeki/Dark Hole/Mirror Force -flip monsters (aside from shadoll/guru) -life point gain cards -multiple copies of utility links (ex: knightmarea) -equip spells (that aren’t revival/broken) -atk reduction cards (that don’t have other effects) -polymerization (in non-archetypal fusion decks) -atk boosting field spells -link 5 cards -Gamble cards -atk/defense swappers -high defense walls -exchange -yu jo friendship(lolol) -(vanilla) trap hole -Supply Squad -orichalchos -destroyed by battle floaters(ex: mystic tomato) -union monsters (oldschool ones anyways) -gemini moneters -piercing beaters -magic hats -defusion I’ll admit some of these are way too general, were probably already covered, straight up wrong/misplaced or contrary to the standards of WNP, but I just wanted to throw a bunch of ideas out there.
Gemini was meta once, but it was just Neos Alius in HERO Beat for his stats and Gemini Spark. You'd never gemini summon him, but those two cards have a lot of tops
Hey Doug why not make a new vid for the Sacred Beast and call it "Why people Should try 'blank' ". Because sacred beast is getting some fun support cards.

I think that if they made new "Spirit Message" cards with like Bonus effect to not brick in your hand, then we will see some Destiny Board shenanigans, but I guess it would be too good for a win condition card.
How about the effects affecting both players? Like blocking all summons for two turns, all enemy monsters lose attacks for each player's attack phase, etc. And the new Destiny Board makes it so the cards must be played if possible so you have to time Destiny Board when you're sure you can stay alive and defend backrow until L hits the field while slowly losing backrow slots
Just recently got back into the game about mid to late 2018 after having left the game for 7 years because I didn't like the direction, but your videos and other channels like TGSAnime and TheDuelLogs had revived my love for the game, and I've swiftly been picking up on how the game's changed and really love a lot of the new Archetypes.
I remember making a destiny board deck back when I played tag force every day after school and was underwhelmed at how bad it was. Things like card trader blocked me out from my own strategy so I couldn’t use any stall spells or traps. And if I wanted to revive a monster I couldn’t use all of the haunted. Basically the only strategy was to play “not destroyed by battle monsters and see if the AI could get around it.
It seems you overlooked that Dark Spirit's Mastery can also place cards from the graveyard to the bottom of the deck resulting in actual "free" draws. (I'm not saying this makes it any more viable you still have to play destiny board)
As always, great video. Also I have an idea, "What happened to Raigeki?" like the "What happened to Fiendish Chain?" video. I'm curious about why it fell out of favor.
Don't know you but I still see Raigeki all the time. The only reason I don't play it in either of my decks is that Dinosaurs prefer Dark Hole since it doubles as the unironically best combo starter of the deck, Crystal Abundance is just too good to pass up only my Tribrigade-Crystal deck, my Six Samurai deck couldn't care less about how many monsters my opponent has, since it can very easily FTK going first or drop a monster with infinite Atk going second; my Ancient Gear and Train decks need my opponent to have SOMETHING I can beat up with Giant and Liebe, and the Flunderzee/Winged Dragon of Ra deck has Soul Crossing and Sphere Mode.
Hey Doug, how would you feel about this revamp of Destiny Board? Instead of having the letters in your deck, move the I N A L to the extra deck and give them protection effects. I know it wouldn't be the most amazing thing but I feel like moving the bricks to the extra deck would give the deck a lot more consistency. They should probably receive some monster cards that can act as lightning rods to protect the spirit messages.
That would probably be the only way to make it a viable strategy. But then you'd have people saying it was too OP and demanding it be banned. Can't please anybody in TCGs.
@@Flexy59 how would waking the dragon work if the effect text contains "can only be brought out of the extra deck by the effect of destiny board" or "banish this card once destiny board leaves the field". You could easily add some card text to make it pointless to cheat it out of the extra deck.

@@Hornetog9vp time wizard is obviously a staple 3 of in timelords, its op because your monsters are never destroyed! jokes aside, timelords have some cool shit they can do with their anti destruction effects, like dark hole n stuff and since you usually keep 1 on the field mystic mine works okay with them still rely completely on burn and are pretty hard to actually do stuff with when any non destruction removal hard counters the entire deck
I'm pretty sure I have seen at least Metaion and another time Lord top a tournament or two... I'm pretty sure Metaion was a side deck option for a while
i love playing destiny board with necrofear on master duel. there is a funny combo that you can do with destiny board, sentence of doom, and battle fader. battle fader is a fiend monster that you play from your hand when your opponent direct attacks and it ends the battle phase immediately but is banished when it leaves the field. sentence of doom allows you to once per turn retrieve fiend monsters from banished or graveyard up to the number of destiny board/spirit message you have on the field. essentially what it does is let you indefinitely recycle battle fader and become untouchable. they can just destroy your traps but i think its a neat combo that allows you to stall for the destiny board win condition.
Paleozoic Marrella goes great In altergeist. Example. When you activate it, you send altergeist camouflage to grave. The reason for this, because altergeist camouflage protects altergeist cards by banishing it. It helps with deck thinning, as well as the grave as a interruption. Also once the Paleozoic is in grave, it’ll revive back as a monster trap.
Hey, i just wanted to say that I love your analysis content. Maybe you could do a series taking a look at some different deck archetypes that are currently too weak to see play and point out some flaws and maybe support that they could get which would push them into viability. Awesome content as always.
Fun fact: With sentence of doom you can infinitely loop battle fader to your hand as long as you control another letter, since it can target both banished fiends and fiends in the graveyard.
I remember getting excited when I first learned of the Destiny Board (I think I got Message I first). But even my young mind knew it would probably be too hard to pull off once I read Destiny Board. Oh well.
I would rather look into the solutions for making Destiny Board better. some good things to note: -Dark Sanctuary gives protection for the letters used as monsters, opening space for more diverse game play as Battle Damage protection -Dark Spirit Mastery - incredble search effect, great effect from the Graveyard can be used also for free draws if those cards are in your GY, Discard effect could also be used as a benefit when the Fiend Monster line up would consist of a mix of Archfiend/Darkworld and the Dark Spirit/Necrofear monsters add Call of the Archfiends to it and it could combo really nicely and if you got also that Eradicator Virus that's a 3 turn spell or trap protection you can create for your Destiny Board. -Sentence of doom when in multiples can Turbo Destiny Board even faster making it a 2/3 turn win scenario even if one of those letters is in your GY, also getting to use some of your monsters again can be very useful too if you picked the right cards to go with your deck. -The Duel is put on a Timer thanks to Destiny board which can put pressure on some opponents depending on their decks -Depending on the deckbuild it can give you various win conditions: Destiny Board, Dark Sanctuary as just a Beatdown from your monsters. The cons/Weaknesses -while it does give some protection 2 very important cards are still wide open: Dark Sanctuary and Destiny board itself -all other letters Brick in opening hand which is really big negative -it is very relient on the Deck and Extra Deck how well it does perform What does it need in my opinion: -A Extra Deck Monster who has build in Protection for both the Field Spell card as the Destiny Board Cards(there are probably extra deck monsters who could already function this position but a Necrofear XYZ/Synchro or Even Fusion would be great) -A Main Deck Monster Card that can Summon itself by using Spirit message cards in your Hand/Field/GY with the effect to loop them back into the Deck -An Extra Deck Monster that could be summoned by the Fang of Critias which part of it's effect is the same as Destiny Board itself as getting protection from Dark Sanctuary -A card that lets you draw up to the number of Spirit message cards you have in your hand. -A Fiend type Monster that has Battle-destruction Protections as forcing your opponent to attack it with all monsters as receiving 0 damage while through Dark Sacntuary burning your opponent lifepoints basically turning their own board against them.
just a simple destruction protection or a high def/atk fiend monster that cannot be destroyed by card effects while destiny board was on the field would help this deck extremely
It was just a cool anime archetype that they printed and nerfed the shit out of from Yami and Bakura’s battle. Sounds like they are showing it some love after all these years.
Another way to go would be to have the I, N, A and L spirit messages trigger an effect when sent from the field to the graveyard, thematically kind of cool for the spirits to "take revenge" on their destroyer. Would make it easier to justify a "mash-up" with a non-dedicated Destiny Board deck.
if the letters slowly gave you either, more protection to prevent them all getting wiped, or some more control power to the deck giving it an actual way to interact with the opponent it could probably be the "best" alt win con deck, being actually viable unlike venominaga etc. but not an, i go first i win any interaction i lose like exodia
To be honest, it would actually be worse if destroying one card didn't destroy all of them in most cases. Think about it, if you've got F I N and A up and your opponent blows up the F, what happens to your board? Your stuck with three spells that literally do nothing clogging up your S/T zones, and even if you do somehow recover with another Destiny Board, it HAS to activate the cards in order, leaving you with F I N A I, no zones, and no win. The new support can help with this situation, but most of the time you're better off just starting from scratch as to not shoot yourself in the foot.
I still remember Yugioh4RealMens Herald of Destiny deck. Summon Herald of Perfection to block your opponent until you can activate Destiny Board. As "I" "N" and "A" were activated and his opponent struggled to out the Herald he tributed the 3 letters for Hamon Lord of Striking Thunder and attacked for game. That guy was lightyears beyond the meta.
If dark sanctuary would special summon destiny board or spirit message cards which are already in your spell/trap card zone as monsters it would be so much better. The uneffected by card effects really doesn't matter otherwise if you can just hit destiny board
hmm.. trying to consider a more fair retrain of the strategy... How about: (f) unchanged (i) add "when this card is summoned by (f), lower the attack of all opponents monsters by 500 times the number of (letters) on your field as long as this card remains on the field." (n) add "when this card is summoned by (f), all effects that target a destiny board or spirit message you control are redirected to this card while it remains on the field. when this card is sent from the field to the graveyard by card effect, play 1 (f) and (i) from your graveyard [they are treated as summoned by (f)]" (a) add "when this card is summoned by (f), disable one zone of your choice while this card remains on the field" (l) add "you can discard this card from your hand to add one (letter) to your hand" notes on my shorthand: i use the letters to indicate the cards, not their full names. if the proposed effect says (letter), it means any piece of FINAL.
Just errata the spirit messages to be place-able from hand. It won't make the card competitively viable but at the very least it's something. It would create an interesting dynamic where your opponent would have to MST it asap in case you have the remaining messages in hand instead of knowing for sure they are safe for 4 turns.
I know that it's old vide but my mild OCD is tingling because you forget about main point of Dark Spirit Mastery, dzeff. It can also put Spirit Message cards from graveyard into deck for its effect, which not only helps you recover your precious win condition but mainly can make +whatever for free. Hec, this card makes sending Spirit Messages into graveyard to turn it into Pot of Greed on steroids much more valuable and powerful than the actual instant win bs. I'm curious if there's some hidden draw engine to make out of it, lol.
That's not really OCD mate. Someone not mentioning a card that didn't do much to help spirit board become meta. The video is only talking about the meta here
I do remember the only time I won a duel at a local back in the GX era. I played DB at my opponent's first End Phase, and he was unable to stop it from there. He even told me that the only reason it worked, was because he could not draw his MST in time.
I think a cool concept for destiny board support would be that they could be used for a archetypal xyz monster summon that can either use the destiny board cards for a win condition or, as negation tools.
i remember using it correctly back in the days, using Cat of ill omen to search for it, mix it with a defensive play using monster and way to empty the deck asap(like monsters summoning more from the deck, and when i played destiny board, if my opponent was waiting for a few letter to appear before destroying it, he was doomed, i had 3 copy of *cold wave* just for that, start of my turn playing cold wave, mix it with magician of fate etc to get it back if i needed, so i lock my opponent from playing any magic and trap and destroying my destiny board, monster with the ability to destroy spell and trap were very rare back in that day. but i stopped playing it, when *LAST TURN* was added, i had a very competitive deck based on last turn, winning half the time in my first 2-3 turn sometime i had it set on my very first turn not allowing my opponent to do anything on his turn and die right there, good old days XD where no one wanted to play agains me for fun. or every of my friend was using minar in their deck to counter me, witch i did counter with hallowed life barrier etc later on..
Question.. Is the ONLY way to play these cards during the end phase of your opponents turn? Is there no way to just cycle through your deck and place them in order? Idc if the deck isn't competitive, I just want to experiment. I love gimmicky decks.
Had a Destiny board deck back when it launched. It won on occasion, but took a lot of luck. Used cards like messenger of peace, waboku and Imperial Decree to help stall, but can also remove themselves if I needed board space.
I remember these cards from that series, once insane back then it was like Exodia, I was on the hunt for the whole word of FINAL, I only gotten 2 or 3 of them though back in the old days.
Here’s a weird ruling question I’d like to know. Are you allowed to mix the letters of “FINAL” and “DEATH?” In other words could you use the F for the trap and then have the following letter be “E” instead of “I”?
Two quick notes. Dark Spirit Mastery also retrieves from GY, wich is absolutely CRUCIAL as it gives you a comeback chance if your opponent blows up Destiny Board and the Spirit Messages. Magical Mallet actually DID shuffle itself back to the deck in the Anime, and if it worked like this in the TCG or let you draw an extra card it ABSOLUTELY would see a lot of play and would get Limited at the very least. Just look at Moray of Greed, wich does work like that and is a staple 3-of in every WATER deck in existance.
@@phantomnite it effectively does the same, it resets 2 monsters from the hand and draws 3 cards, thus going hand neutral. It does not recycle itself reusable, but if you draw more than 1 you can fire them off one after another.
It's like destiny board was given as many restrictions as possible to keep it from being good. You have to play the cards in a specific order, and you can't play one immediately from the hand when you draw into it. You can't pull spirit messages from your graveyard, so you can't just play another copy of destiny board without multiples of the spirit messages. They all go to the graveyard when one is destroyed, so you can't repair your board. It's designed to be trash.
@@xgongivittoya1931 Honestly, if they gave Venominaga it's anime effect, where you win the duel 3 turns after it inflicts battle damage to your opponent, it would still be useless just because of how hard to summon it is.
Very late comment here but wanted to speak my thoughts on it. I love Bakura's deck theme with occult and paranormal cards. I'm not a tournament league duelist I'm at best adept. I can build good rogue decks but I've just never tried building anything otk speed, I just don't like duels to end that fast. Destiny board was one of the most troublesome set of cards to try and make work, second only to trying to summon exodia necross (I love exodia necross to death, but it's summon condition is murder) the only somewhat feasible method I had found for it was to run a deck of all monsters and anything else being copies of destiny board cards and deck shuffling, recycling or draw power and all the monsters being time Lord's, of which the majority of the entire deck was timelords. Years ago timelords were ridiculously difficult to contend with monster to monster so they were the only thing I could think of that could stay consenstent and keep coming out to protect the field while destiny board did it's thing. This was before I had access to timelords support, at this time only the monsters existed. All the test results was the deck just turned out to be an infinite deck by way of the timelords that just stalled for 30-50+ turns at a time because often AI would blow up pieces of destiny board and I'd have to start again or just finish them with timelords. Considering I hear nothing about timelords in the current meta, I'm gonna presume even with whatever support they may have gotten, even they cannot help destiny board sadly.
The Necrofears are actually really great in Infernoids and some of the bigger ones can be used in recycling your Infernoids when you run out of steam from Monster Gates
I played a destiny board deck ... I paired it with Herald Fairies and most important Herald Of Perfection way before it got those other support cards. It worked well enough to beat some meta decks back then with reasonable consistense.
Could you go through single cards that made their architypes go from a casual strategy to a tier 1 or 2 strat? We could then use that information to see what kind of cards would need to be printed to make other fan favorite strategies viable.
Why would you ever run this as a backup strategy for your deck? Like you said you can just run final countdown if you wanna do that. Way easier and takes up no field space and less deck space also
If Destiny board was errated with a better effect where each card shuts something down such as "Spirit message I" have has to be summoned by Destiny board your opponent can not activate any effect and can search Spirit message N . would that still be bad.

wdym, every meta deck runs jerry beans man at 3
The reason no one plays Jerry Beans Man. Is that decks are too focused on big long combos on turn one.
A wnp Jerry beens man would be a great April fools meme video
I mean, 1750 atk is kinda op, so people dont play Jerry Beans in order to not get hate xd
If you don't play Jerry beans man, you are playing yugioh wrong
I've been waiting for this since dzeef did the Exodia one.
When I was a kid I got so excited when I got the destiny board cards. I think I got them off once and I may or may not have been cheating
babysinclairfan I won on my first attempt using it. I have won a couple times with it, but don't always use it.
I want "occult" to be good so bad, all I can think is retrained letters or a link Necrofear/new destiny board that gains effects that locks your opponent the more letters you get
They would play it if it spelled out Deep-Eyes White Dragon and instead of winning the duel it searched Deep-Eyes when completed
That would only work if you could use your opponents field aswell for the messages.
Destiny Board has always been cool imo. Never considered making one because obvious reasons but still a cool concept
A few proposals for why nobody plays:
-most structure decks
-Raigeki/Dark Hole/Mirror Force
-flip monsters (aside from shadoll/guru)
-life point gain cards
-multiple copies of utility links (ex: knightmarea)
-equip spells (that aren’t revival/broken)
-atk reduction cards (that don’t have other effects)
-polymerization (in non-archetypal fusion decks)
-atk boosting field spells
-link 5 cards
-Gamble cards
-atk/defense swappers
-high defense walls
-exchange
-yu jo friendship(lolol)
-(vanilla) trap hole
-Supply Squad
-orichalchos
-destroyed by battle floaters(ex: mystic tomato)
-union monsters (oldschool ones anyways)
-gemini moneters
-piercing beaters
-magic hats
-defusion
I’ll admit some of these are way too general, were probably already covered, straight up wrong/misplaced or contrary to the standards of WNP, but I just wanted to throw a bunch of ideas out there.
Gemini was meta once, but it was just Neos Alius in HERO Beat for his stats and Gemini Spark. You'd never gemini summon him, but those two cards have a lot of tops
But people do play raigeki. Why else do you think it's still limited.
I can almost hear Yami Bakura laughing in the background.
Hey Doug why not make a new vid for the Sacred Beast and call it "Why people Should try 'blank' ". Because sacred beast is getting some fun support cards.
"BUT I PLAY DESTINY BOARD!!!"
inb4 "inb4 but I play destiny board comment" comment.
Also, about Dark Sanctuary winning more games than Dedtiny Board, can confirm lol.
Epic, you can enjoy the game and you are not a yugiboomer that says "back in my days the game was better because bla bla bla".
I think you can get rid of the "probably" on if Mallet +1 would be banned, lol
what manga is that profile pic from. It looks cool.
Nobody plays destiny board because we're all focused on trying to figure out what Pot of Greed does
Destroy 2 cards the head judge controls in their GY, face sideways
What does pot of greed do?
Apparently Pot of Greed jokes will never get old in this community. Whoops, I meant "I still don't know what it does!" Yuk yuk yuk
This is probably the best one in the series! I really enjoyed the discussion on modern support.
Still limited.
The spirit messages should have what Dzeef mentioned, 1 for 1 effects like "destroy 1 card" or something then shuffle it back into the deck.
Triple waking the dragons wants to have a word with you
@@Flexy59 how would waking the dragon work if the effect text contains "can only be brought out of the extra deck by the effect of destiny board" or "banish this card once destiny board leaves the field". You could easily add some card text to make it pointless to cheat it out of the extra deck.
@@tartantulakid666 makes sense my brain stops thinking after 5am sorry
If all the spirit messages had effects:
I: Spell/Traps you control cannot be destroyed by card effects.
N: When this card is placed on the field: Draw 2 cards.
A: When this card is placed on the field: Destroy all monsters your opponent controls.
(L doesn't need one since you win at that point)
Still not good, cause your opponent can just remove the cards from the field still.
why nobody plays timelords if you haven't already
Timelord Trains was a thing for a little while
Joey who need time lords when you got time waizard lol.
@@Hornetog9vp time wizard is obviously a staple 3 of in timelords, its op because your monsters are never destroyed!
jokes aside, timelords have some cool shit they can do with their anti destruction effects, like dark hole n stuff and since you usually keep 1 on the field mystic mine works okay with them
still rely completely on burn and are pretty hard to actually do stuff with when any non destruction removal hard counters the entire deck
I play timelords
Doesnt really help it be good
Great video! Glad to see this series is back!
Why did you spam this comment five times?
I play it and have been before the new support cards and when they came out I ordered them in right away something about game ended decks I just love
Last time I was this early Old-school Yu-Gi-Oh! was still Old-school
Oh well.
Is this even a question? I mean 5 no effect backrow cards that have to be on the field AT THE SAME TIME and one it's a trap
Nonsense! The Destiny Board winning animation in "Stairway to the Destined" was the best way of winning by far!
I would rather look into the solutions for making Destiny Board better. some good things to note:
-Dark Sanctuary gives protection for the letters used as monsters, opening space for more diverse game play as Battle Damage protection
-Dark Spirit Mastery - incredble search effect, great effect from the Graveyard can be used also for free draws if those cards are in your GY, Discard effect could also be used as a benefit when the Fiend Monster line up would consist of a mix of Archfiend/Darkworld and the Dark Spirit/Necrofear monsters add Call of the Archfiends to it and it could combo really nicely and if you got also that Eradicator Virus that's a 3 turn spell or trap protection you can create for your Destiny Board.
-Sentence of doom when in multiples can Turbo Destiny Board even faster making it a 2/3 turn win scenario even if one of those letters is in your GY, also getting to use some of your monsters again can be very useful too if you picked the right cards to go with your deck.
-The Duel is put on a Timer thanks to Destiny board which can put pressure on some opponents depending on their decks
-Depending on the deckbuild it can give you various win conditions: Destiny Board, Dark Sanctuary as just a Beatdown from your monsters.
The cons/Weaknesses
-while it does give some protection 2 very important cards are still wide open: Dark Sanctuary and Destiny board itself
-all other letters Brick in opening hand which is really big negative
-it is very relient on the Deck and Extra Deck how well it does perform
What does it need in my opinion:
-A Extra Deck Monster who has build in Protection for both the Field Spell card as the Destiny Board Cards(there are probably extra deck monsters who could already function this position but a Necrofear XYZ/Synchro or Even Fusion would be great)
-A Main Deck Monster Card that can Summon itself by using Spirit message cards in your Hand/Field/GY with the effect to loop them back into the Deck
-An Extra Deck Monster that could be summoned by the Fang of Critias which part of it's effect is the same as Destiny Board itself as getting protection from Dark Sanctuary
-A card that lets you draw up to the number of Spirit message cards you have in your hand.
Great video Dzeeff !! :)
This video is very informative 😄
It was just a cool anime archetype that they printed and nerfed the shit out of from Yami and Bakura’s battle. Sounds like they are showing it some love after all these years.
Yo dzeef new darklord support has come out can you talk about the new cards and how much stronger will the deck become
Pleasee answer my question
I love when it spells out
Feath and I win, keeps my opponents guessing
How about:
(f) unchanged
(i) add "when this card is summoned by (f), lower the attack of all opponents monsters by 500 times the number of (letters) on your field as long as this card remains on the field."
(n) add "when this card is summoned by (f), all effects that target a destiny board or spirit message you control are redirected to this card while it remains on the field. when this card is sent from the field to the graveyard by card effect, play 1 (f) and (i) from your graveyard [they are treated as summoned by (f)]"
(a) add "when this card is summoned by (f), disable one zone of your choice while this card remains on the field"
(l) add "you can discard this card from your hand to add one (letter) to your hand"
notes on my shorthand: i use the letters to indicate the cards, not their full names. if the proposed effect says (letter), it means any piece of FINAL.
Dzeef at the beginning: alright assholes no one can defend this crap!
Thank you for inspiring me to build a destiny board deck.
This is a great idea, I like the change to more interesting discussion :)
funfact to 3:30 iirc some VIDEO GAMES did indeed require the cards to be left to right F I N A L.... which is maybe where that Assumption came from
Just errata the spirit messages to be place-able from hand.
I truly believe that one day they get a new support card like Bakura ace monster got new support why not his Ace spell/trap card
13:58 It's better than a magical mallet. It's like a combination of magical mallet and pot of avarice.
I just love how as you're talking about this unplayable deck the card art is just a giant F.
You should do a series taking bad/mediocre archetypes & discuss what kind of support or cards they would need to become rogue/competitive
i remember using it correctly back in the days, using Cat of ill omen to search for it, mix it with a defensive play using monster and way to empty the deck asap(like monsters summoning more from the deck, and when i played destiny board, if my opponent was waiting for a few letter to appear before destroying it, he was doomed, i had 3 copy of *cold wave* just for that, start of my turn playing cold wave, mix it with magician of fate etc to get it back if i needed, so i lock my opponent from playing any magic and trap and destroying my destiny board, monster with the ability to destroy spell and trap were very rare back in that day. but i stopped playing it, when *LAST TURN* was added, i had a very competitive deck based on last turn, winning half the time in my first 2-3 turn sometime i had it set on my very first turn not allowing my opponent to do anything on his turn and die right there, good old days XD where no one wanted to play agains me for fun. or every of my friend was using minar in their deck to counter me, witch i did counter with hallowed life barrier etc later on..
I lost to Final Countdown around 8 years ago because the person playing it had an unbreakable stall deck.
If the destiny board strategy played like a control deck. I think that would be a lot more fun
I wish each letter protected the previous one, that way your opponent couldn’t just easily sweep your letters.
I think that you should find your answer in the text of Destiny Board :)
Imagine having 4 of the 5 cards out and your opponent Lightning storms you in the face
I really, really want the "Backrowxodia" to be the fan term for Destiny Board.
The best use of Destiny board is to tribute the spirit messages for Hamon
And then drop Phantasmal Martyrs to Link spam ftw! :3
Morey of greed doesn't work like that though
@@phantomnite it effectively does the same, it resets 2 monsters from the hand and draws 3 cards, thus going hand neutral. It does not recycle itself reusable, but if you draw more than 1 you can fire them off one after another.
@@joanaguayoplanell4912 yeah but it still doesn't recycle itself
It's like destiny board was given as many restrictions as possible to keep it from being good.
You have to play the cards in a specific order, and you can't play one immediately from the hand when you draw into it.
You can't pull spirit messages from your graveyard, so you can't just play another copy of destiny board without multiples of the spirit messages.
They all go to the graveyard when one is destroyed, so you can't repair your board.
It's designed to be trash.
This was overdue. Good video.
"why nobody plays venominaga" fits both the big boss monster which is weird to summon and the alternate win condition category
If Konami make more good reptile monsters and support then venominaga will be good
The venom archetype sucks. Video over.
@@jaspertyler4557 It needs way better support, yeah
Yay so glad that this series is back
"Why your casual cards are not competitively played"
Why would you ever run this as a backup strategy for your deck? Like you said you can just run final countdown if you wanna do that. Way easier and takes up no field space and less deck space also
If Destiny board was errated with a better effect where each card shuts something down such as "Spirit message I" have has to be summoned by Destiny board your opponent can not activate any effect and can search Spirit message N . would that still be bad.
