Jake, Way to take it like a man! You owned it, every body has respect for you because of it. Get that bed built, take a week off, spend it with the family. If you get in a bind or tight spot, come to ND. I’ll put you to work the next day. You have been like a brother to me the last 6 months. If you need help, then don’t hesitate to ask. I’ll always help you with whatever you need! Derek
Alex Breitenbach exactly and he could have left this bad bit out but it happens to the best and there's no shame, his positivity is on point and he puts it in a great way. But in a sentence he's saying get over it, learn from it and move on from it.... Great life lessons!!!
Good positive attitude. I busted 3 straps on my last test. Some guys blame the machine, but I always fault myself first. It's hard to do that, but man you took it the right way on your repairs. Your attitude makes me want to follow you even more. Really humble
That's why I love being a welder because I always know I can just pack up , drag up , move up or move on and not stress because not everyone can do what we do thank goodness if it was easy everyone would be doing it I guess ... and we are always needed ..but our money has to be in order first to do anything in life unfortunately ... it takes a certain kinda person to be a welder as a sit here looking at all these burns all over my arms from the week .. thanks Mr Schofield for your time ! I'm so excited to see your new adventure !
Brother this video was wind in my sails. Im a fitter/plumber...really I do both. The plumbing side I do hydronics and mechanical rooms. Well anyways I just got my money about two weeks ago and I was installing a mile a minute. I spent my first 2 months fixing other guys work that stayed on. I have been bitter. I chalk it up to my GF not liking me. Praise the Lord be blessed and thanks for the encouragement
Looking forward to seeing the bed build videos. I look forward to your videos every week. I even look every day to see if you’ve posted a random video. Love what you do it has inspired me to get rigged up myself and practice. I’ve been practicing for months now and place to step out there and get my feet wet. Keep up the good work you and your family will always be blessed.
that's welder life man. it sucks when we get a bad xray. I had 4 on one job after 2 years of no bad. it sucked got ran off wasnt moneyed up because it was a short term job. glad to see your still making new stuff.
,I have a lot of respect for you, seen all your videos , but this one talks more about you , honest man who is responsible for his own actions. God bless you brother , and keep up the videos.their good advise and good teaching.👍
Hey bro we love ya . Thanks for everything you do . We are all welders and are in this together . You explained everything like a man and you didn’t have too . You're a huge inspiration man. Get knocked down and keep on pushing. Safe travels to your next place and congratulations on your little one. I can't wait to see your bed build and your next step!
Good luck Jake. Enjoy the unexpected time off, you had a pretty good run where you have been. There is plenty of work out there; I know of two pipelines in this area. Live and learn!
I always click across your videos in my suggested because I'm currently interested in all kinds of welding. Mainly fabrication, etc. Anyway, I never subscribed because the pipeline didn't interest me at all, probably won't ever...but your motivation is VERY moving. I needed to hear this video. Keep up the good work, man. You've got a new sub.
Hey man. First off, big fan, first time commenting, I’m a subscriber, and follower. Love what you’re doin with the channel, awesome influence. I to am a welder and watching your vids helps my outlook on my personal future in the business and helping in the direction I want to go which is a pipeline chaser as a welder. Sorry to hear about the lay off. PUMPED to see you film this next bed. Loved the first one you made on the Chevy, I’m about to buy an ‘18 ram 3500 myself so I’m sure if you make this bed as cool as the last one you make, without copyright infringements, I’m sure mine will be mocked after yours! Keep it up brother! Good luck. Hope to see you out there on the row sometime!
Kurt I would love to see this bed on your truck!! I building a complete blue print with measurments for this perticular bed. Its going to be a little different then the last because I run asingle cab now and Ive always hated tools and things in my cab
Sounds like you have a lot of friends out there already setting up opportunities for you that says a lot about your credibility and respect among others. Good luck and God bless.
Jake, are you ok, man? You are a good welder, and you know your stuff. I'm sure you are going to be ok. I love the way you are looking it right in the eye. I'm sure we'll see improvement as you move forward.
That shit can be FRUSTRATING. I was burning great then got to overhead and was stuck for damn near a week. Dont get discouraged keep on burning them rods
I can relate to how you must feel. Unfortunately we work ourselves out of a job. I have made it through 5 or 6 layoffs before my time came. Then we just cowboy up and go to the next one. Money-up when you can because the saga continues. I really don't see you having a problem on getting the next gig.
I remember working out of the boilermaker union #263 out of Memphis in 1978 when two of the best tube welders in the union[and there were some good ones]went to Pascagoula Miss traveling out of the district because times were hard and busted out on their test. They were broke and had to wash dishes to get gas money to get home.Never know what may happen.

You mentioned the welder life style. And I'm about tired of it. I been a full blown pipe welder for over 12 years and can't find a job. I been out of work since before Thanksgiving. I've called all my contacts, called a number of companies, done a bunch of applications with no luck. It's been the same story since 2015. I'll land a job work for 8 or 9 months and be layed off for 2-3 months. I have a very good track record, a well known reputation of being a very good welder for a bunch of companies and for nothing. It dont matter how good you are most companies forget you once the job is done but never consider the people that made it possible for the next job. Its frustrating and stressful. Jacob Schofield I’m really glad you got that week off and were able to work again right away. You must have good friends that had your back. Thanks for your videos, they’ve helped a lot.
Man I went 2 years with no repairs and caught 4 the other day all for the same thing. It happens sometimes to everybody. All you do is move on and learn from it.
As a side note, I saw the weather changed where you were. How does your preparation change as the weather gets sideways on you? I'm not looking to hand you an excuse, I really don't know the answer to the question.
Pipe welder 40+ yrs have taken hundreds of tests with no problems the only test that I drop was a 4” sch 160 with a backing ring 6g using Duel shield mig the job was on a very large oil Storage tank long ass test finish up X-ray then trow coupon in the dumpster no good they say will give me another shot but you have to take and pass 2 a day and 1/2 latter and countless fuck this in my head I had success moral of story the stress side of our trade at times can be brutal good luck Jake and welding family
If it happens to literally everybody at the same time can they appeal that and prove it was the rods and get the job back? I can see getting tossed if it's your fault but what if it's proven that it wasn't?
Related question: is there any way you can look at the rods and tell? Or test on a coupon of your own and have them Xray to prevent the problem, i.e. say hey guys this seems fishy can I test this?
@@billmcyrus I was one of the 8. The gas company did retest all of us a week later and most of us got another kick at the cat. We got lucky on that one. Some times depending on what rod your running you can tell a junk rod from a good one. But alot of times you will never relay no tell the unemployment wagen gets ahold of it.

Suck his ass no one gives a shut about comparing to other people it doesn’t matter how you do it...as long as it happens stay in your own lane

Been there in one day 8 welders repaired on a job I was on. For lack of fusion .Turned out to be a bad batch of rods. Sucks but what you guna do.
Sorry that happened buddy, your a bad ass and keep your chin up.
Thanks wade it was a blessing im getting this bed built and then we will be back on the road.
