I started to study Thai consonants on June 9 (on my birthday 🤣 since I love to watch Thai series and movies; that's how I decided to study Thai, and also for self-investment), and now I have memorized all the 44 consonants thanks to your video. No language has 32 vowels. That is impossible. The Thai language has five basic vowels Just as English does. Those vowels are A, E, I, O, U. Pronounced ah, eh, ee, oh, ooh. These vowels are combined to produce 9 more "VOWEL SOUNDS": ae ai ao au eu eua er ia ua In total 14 vowel sounds. Now since all these VOWELSOUNDS can be either short or long, that gives a total of 28 VOWEL SOUNDS. In addition, the Thai language has 20 "CONSONAT SOUNDS"-- that is one less than in English. They are B, BP, CH, D, DT, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, NG, P, R, S, T, W, Y. When you hear that the Thai language has 44 consonats, it is because there are multiple written versions of some consonants.

I watched a 3 year old Thai girl, reading a story out loud from a lap top, in Thai. I thought “you should be ashamed, Richard. You have been here in Bangkok for 5 years and that child makes you look rather stupid.” Thanks to you, Waree, my understanding and my keenness to learn more has increased. My 16 year old step daughter was delighted to see my sudden progress and helps me to get the tones correct. I was baffled by the letter ɔ but after some research, I found that it was an archaic letter that was dropped from the English language a long time ago but is still used in American classrooms and online but no longer used in British English. 🙏
I learnt Thai language in our India 20 years ago. But I was taught to pronounce kawkai instead of gawgai (1st consonant) and chawchaan instead of jawjaan (7th consonant). So I learnt from your video new pronunciation, which is obviously original since you are yourself Thai. Thank you so much. I like your video and have already subscribed a few days ago.

My fiance is thai but she and me have trouble meeting to practice and learn each other's languages. we use google translate as a temporary measure to communicate but sometimes it has caused a lot of problems and hurt feelings. That particular consonant is not used because, a long time ago when the typewriter was introduced to Thailand, there wasn't enough space for all the letters so they removed 2 consonants that had other consonants that sound similar already.

I have to compliment you. You really took time to explain each sound. I was so confused before I watched your video. And that was even after knowing Hindi and Bengali which has similar sounds. ক খ গ ঘ you know... ক 'kaw' খ 'khaw' গ 'gaw' ঘ 'ghaw' But I still have problems because Thai is a tonal language. it is especially very hard ( Any asian language is hard ) if you're from middle east/ Europe. I am from Cyprus and it is very hard. My first language is Greek and i learnt english as my second language but learning Thai is a challenge

I really love your content. It does help me a lot in learning Thai language. At first, it was quite daunting to learn this because Thai language is not as easy as any other language with “latin” as its base alphabet. In the past, I did tried to learn but it didn’t went me to go through until when I saw your content last week, I gave it a try and I do found this so interesting. I’ve already memorized the first 22 Pa-Yan-Cha Na 😅 I can even write it correctly and knew some basic Thai words. You really did a great job!

That particular consonant is not used because, a long time ago when the typewriter was introduced to Thailand, there wasn't enough space for all the letters so they removed 2 consonants that had other consonants that sound similar already.

Same here...Even though we have similar pronunciations in Bengali & Hindi but for some of the consonants , like "kh" there are 5-6 forms & at first I got really confused 😧😵

Same many words hard to remember I always confused when I write naw nain ณ and chor Cher ฌ. If is there any formula to keep them remind correctly plz tell me. Daily I practice ไทย pa Yun ch na. Twice a day but still confused. Hope u will help me. I have many of your videos. Me trying to understand that step by step. First . Pa ya ch na then Sa ra. And now me watching careful making Thai words video. Pl always use ear phones for better audio result too. Khop khon khrab( ไฃภ ไขณ ขราภ) I don't know it's correct Thai spell or not but I swear I made it with my mind.
