It's one of those things that I would watch if I had the time but there is so much of it that I can never get around to it. Especially with all of the ongoing series I keep up with. And Overwatch. There are only so many hours.
Its one of the best animated show and I too would highly recommend it. Theres a lot to watch and do today but if you can find time it’s worth watching.
My favourite thing about Suicide Squad is everyone has ideas on how to fix the movie and they're always better than the actual movie. It's like the ultimate inspiration.
Ive noticed that same thing. Its basically this decades Star Wars prequel movies. Everyone knows a way to make a superior film because everyone has at least once read or seen a superior film that is kinda like what this movie should have been.
Funny enough DC is trying to catch up with the MCU but is going at it all wrong. They aren't even seeing and trying to replicate the process the MCU did to make them a powerhouse. Because we have years of successful MCU movies we all can easily see why Suicide Squad sucked and what can make it better. By the time this movie came out Marvel has already released 3 extremely successful superhero team movies. (4 if you count Civil War) Since Marvel and DC are the frontrunners with everything superhero related we automatically compare them.
They *shouldn't* be trying to replicate Marvel. They should be trying to make something that's awesome *and* different. Which they are - they just keep failing to stick that first bit. :/
Nando v Movies the television series? I want to get into it but I have a hard time dealing with some of the acting. I'll give it a look though just to hear that line
Your story ideas make me very disappointed at all the great opportunities that were missed and wasted. Keep up the great work, hopefully WB will hire you for it.
You know what they say, explaining what they did wrong to people that think they did do wrong already always lands you a job with the company you're insulting.
I damn near lost my shit and threw my computer out the window when you said “boomerangs always return” it amazes me how warner brow missed out on such an amazing line, if suicide squad had that line in it I think I would’ve given it a 10/10 just off the sheer amount of balls required to put that line in
The end of the movie should be all suicide squad members choose to die instead of working for Amanda but she electrocutes them and refuses to let them die. Just like the comics
Everything he said was pretty on point. Loved the fact that he brought up that they (the studio) takes interesting characters and just negates the thing that MAKES them interesting. So true for this movie.
Now I will never be happy knowing I'll live in a world where Captain Boomerang doesn't say, "I told you. Boomerangs always come back" in a Suicide Squad movie.
I say drop the Enchantress angle entirely. Have the squad travel the world, stealing from various DC nations (Atlantis, Gorilla City, etc.) or even just other supervillains, only to reveal that the items Waller was having them steal were components to ACTUALLY create an anti-superman weapon in the form of Captain Atom, who proceeds to kick their asses, throw them in prison, and set up the next film. It's a way of seeing a legitimate, Superman-type hero as the enemy of this group we should have come to enjoy, support, and care for, even if they are dickheads. Kind of a Soon I Will Be Invincible vibe. "I saw the misadjusted dials and the whirling gauges and the bubbling green fluid and the electricity arcing around, and a story laid out for me... I was going to declare war on the world, and I was going to lose."
That line should have been so much later in the movie. Like late in the game they realize what's going on and then Lawton names the team. Gives it a lot more weight.
I think it could work better as two parter. First the bait. During their preparation someone says, let it be Deadshot who cares, something like "So, this is some kind of suicide...mission, or what?" And then later on in the movie let someone say "And now we're Suicide Squad.". Maybe after the bonding. That would work well I'd say.
I would save that for the start of the sequel, you know the hook. Starts with him ripping the Unicorn's head off and inside is a small boomerang with some small tech, the camera moves from the boomerang to his smile and pans to the bomb on the back of him. The Alarms go off showing that he used it to deactivate the bomb on him and maybe on the others. Right when it looks like the Squad is homefree, when suddenly they are all electrocuted. Revealing Amanda Waller just had some chips implanted recently that they were unaware of. She can say something about how happy she is to see their teamwork has improved because they got their next mission.
I fucking love captain boomerang. He represents my Aussie roots and is just a great character. I hated suicide squad's treatment of him. I like your new plot for the movie as well. Love your channel, keep up the amazing work.
One of my biggest problems with modern day Suicide Squad is that Harley Quinn makes no sense as a member. She should have been kicked off long ago and her being there never made sense. I think how you could make her work though is to have her be enlisted for a mission that involves the Joker and during the mission learn to get over the Joker and realize that the squad are real friends to her. It would help explain her being there and why she continues to be there. To work it into your pitch you could have it so that Queen Bee has taken the Joker to Biolivia to design chemical weapons for her. I know some people don’t like Joker playing second fiddle but he has worked for middle eastern dictators in the comics (Death in the Family) so it’s not super far fetched.
Having a Joker that plays second fiddle and uses weird gadgets and laughing gas is a great way to distance the character from Heath Ledger's and avoid comparisons.
I wanted Waller to use Harley as bait in order to lure Joker to the squad so she can capture him, proving Task Force X's competence... but Joker gets away when the Gotham based criminals, Deadshot and Killer Croc, do nothing to stop him because they know what happens when you mess with Joker.
so true about hindsight but some things are NOT hindsight and are just lazy on the part of WB studio, like the part where he mentions that they take interesting characters and in the movie strip them of that thing that makes them interesting. that's just the studio cranking these movies out while they're still "hot" to make as much money as possible.
You missed the biggest disservice to Killer Croc...... Why they make this man crawl into the water when he's walked the whole movie? My entire theatre laughed at that and I don't think it was meant to be funny.
Yea these kinda things are great. There's this one guy who did videos like that for the Star Wars prequel trilogy which were great. Just search "Belated Media What if Star Wars was Good", should be at the top

Boomerang was definitely my favorite part of SS, which is a low bar, but I enjoyed his presence in the movie and really wished they handled him better. Love your "saving/problem" videos. Thanks!
You should make these into a series dude, like all your videos they are so good! There are so many movies on the verge being great that lend themselves to your editing (iron man 3, justice league, thor TDW, the Star Wars prequels/last Jedi, Jurassic world, etc.). Keep up the good work 👏🏼
Funny you said that. I was up super late last night and an idea for Iron Man 3 just came to me. I like it a lot. That will probably be the the next video.
I really like how such a huge change can come from a slight modifications of one character. Or even understanding a character better. Well done for sticking up for a favourite character of yours and making a strong proposal for a better movie.
Once again you provide a pretty decent fix for the movie my only real major complaint is that you didn't detail any plans to eject The Joker out of them film at 1000 MPH
Jai was so good in the role, I hope he appears again in a Flash movie or Suicide Squad sequel just so that he can develop and become the much more interesting character that his comic counterpart possess.
There were a lot of very good ideas in this video. I especially liked how Captain Boomerang being a master lock picker who happens to throw boomerangs shows signs of thinking through the idea much better than the writers of the movie unfortunately did. Good idea. Good thought process. Keep up the good work.
Watching your videos make me so mad knowing what should've done in these movies. A trick shot at the end with Deadshot bouncing a shot off of a boomerang is an amazing idea!
A single sensible chuckle escaped me on that "boomerangs always come back" line, well done. Honestly I would have watched this movie just for this character had it been the one you pitch here.
You seriously need a job helping write movies. Just you describing your idea for Suicide Squad was better than thr actual movie . Keep up the great work!
On my first viewing of this movie, I came out not really thinking about boomer at all. After reading ostranders suicide squad, he’s one of my favorite comic characters tbh
I absolutely love it man. thank you,for brightening my day If boomerangs always come back, then i guess i'm a boomerang,'cuz i will always come back to your videos for entertainment.
Lemme try writing a tactical nfeakdown for Cpt Boomerang: Waller: Digger Harkness AKA Captain boomerang Guy 1: Boomerangs.. Really? Waller: Ignoring his unique choice of weapon he's a world class safe breaker and lockpick, digital or mechanichal he'll open it in a short amount of time. Guy 2: Waller we can send in a tactical locksmith (dunno if its a thing) Waller: Need I remind you he's gone toe to toe with a class A meta and even beat him once. Furthermore his odd weapon choice makes him ideal for hitting targets from blindspots and stealth takedowns. Plus his accuracy is comparable to Lawtons.
10:45 "Boomerangs always come back." Brilliant! The scene you just set would compliment the film astronomically, it would have further cemented his character as a credible asset to the team. Added to that - Makes him more of a loveable idiot who's still ruthlessly competent.
Boomerang could be the guy who loves "getting around things" (hence lockpicking, boomerangs, hacking). There could be a rivalry between boomerang and deadshot where they argue about their respective weapon effectiveness. Deadshot could make fun of Boomerang for throwing around toys, and Boomerang points out guns aren't subtle and (with deadshot excluded) need straight lines of sight and are predictable (which he may despise). Bring up the "knives are more effective within 5 meters" argument. Boomerang and Deadshot could show competition of skill throughout the movie with trick shots/throws, then as you stated in the video, at the climax the two combine their skills to pull off an amazing boomerang-richochet trickshot. In doing this, you can show the team relationship being galvanized with mutual respect. What I'm basically saying is, make a DC-branded "The Expendables".
You could establish Deadshot as relatively new to the criminal world, who only turned to crime to afford his daughter a comfortable life (she infirm and need regular expensive medication). He could be a really amazing distance/accurate shooter that doesn't do trickshots at the beginning of the movie, but not to be outdone by Boomerang, he starts doing trickshots.
One of the problems I've seen ppl complain about the movie is that it seemed like it was Will Smith + a bunch of DC characters. I think it would help to establish a friendly rival relationship such as this to ground the Deadshot character with the team. And eliminate the Rick Flag character (or place him somewhere else) and make Deadshot the leader of the team, he can be the guy who thinks he knows the most effective straightforward plan, but then Boomerang comes in with an idea that is unpredictable, providing a new angle to approach the problem.
The whole film felt like the team and audience are just being strung along. But by giving the Squad more prerogative in what happens during the mission, there will be more suspense as everyone won't know what will happen next. As for the actual mission, I like the idea of bialya. Something could be done with Queen Bee makes an under-the-table deal (Amanda Waller overseeing) with the US government for a grab for more power in the region. Or a country like Kahndaq could be used to set up the future Shazam film, where the Suicide Squad help Teth-Adam overthow Asim Muhunnad.
*Suicide Squad definitely should've been a SMALLER SCALE superhero movie.* We didn't need another team of misfits fighting a big bad green person who has an army of faceless monster-henchman in a destroyed city, all while a big blue lazer shoots up into the sky... I love your ideas, specifically the "Boomerangs always come back" line and the character stuff. The character should've been the focus here. Would've loved to see your version of a covert Ocean's 11, style movie, with only one addition: a little bit of Doctor Strangelove thrown in. Imagine the movie with an over-arching, constantly exacerbating, global-political plot, with consequences as serious as nuclear Armageddon during the Cold War, but, like Doctor Strangelove, it isn't taken too seriously by the movie itself. The film could've been a bit of a satire, which might've allowed it to stand out amongst its peers. It's still a great premise. It would've also given some opportunity to satirize and explore the kind of government-bureaucracy and clandestine shit that leads to teams like the Suicide Squad to begin with.
I think the DCEU suffers from the same problem as the X-Men movies. They don’t seem to understand their characters. They throw in character names and superpowers and hope that the action will sell tickets. I would let them put big flashy characters in but kill them often to prove they are expendable. Make Deadshot and Boomerang rivals that work together for that final moment (doing that trick shot) and focus more on them. And make them the opposite if the league. Use Boomarang to illustrate how even though he has no powers he doesn’t need them because as you say he can pick licks. Use Deadshot to show how training is better than raw power. Use Harley to show how insane people defeating gods is by having her make comments like “I’m glad that god had one vulnerable, easy to spot, glowing weakness. What is this a computer game.”
So pissed off on how they treated Cyclops in the X-men movies. Hes the leader of the team for a reason. Hes not just some one dimensional jerk, hes alot more powerful than the movie let on. Had to have Wolverine still the fucking spotlight, at least nightcrawler was cool. Had to go and fuck up one of my favorite characters of all time, thats Gambit.
Shawn Macdonald The X-men movies are even more disappointing when you realise they have had so many chances to fix it. They use good ideas to reboot the series but don’t fix the problems and it’s an easy fix. (they somehow make it worse) Make it the original 5 X-men versus Magneto on his own. Show how bad ass Magneto is and how the X-men work together to defeat him. If they did the original story where Magneto is going to fire a nuke you can show how each X-man has skills that allow them to infiltrate a government facility and are trained to be a team. That original comic even introduces them perfectly with a training montage that explains their powers and personality, they don’t need to add much to make it a movie.
I love how Nando actually reads the comments and puts a heart just to show his appreciation, he really loves his audience and it goes a long way of showing that connection and acknowledgement with the creator and there audience. I very much enjoy his videos and believe that he comes up with the best scenarios for movies. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
Nando my favorite C-list villain from dc is probably the floronic man, boomerang is obviously yours, what's you favorite b or c lust villain from marvel? Ive allways liked Palladian and that Nazi made of bees that Spiderman fights (swarm?)
That's a great question. MODOK is my favorite but he's everywhere now, so I don't think he fits. I mentioned Stilt Man in one of my videos from a while back. He's great. Sauron just wants to turn everyone into dinosaurs, so he's also a pretty solid pick. There was an evil Captain America from the 50s who has a pretty wild backstory. I'm probably gonna have to go with Stilt Man.
Nando v Movies yeah stilt man is awesome. And red ghost and the super apes are also primo silver age but they could also be made to work with a modern audience (sorta a super power planet of the apes thing)
GroovyGreaser I LOOOOOOVE the spot!!! I actually did a redesign of him as a good guy next generation hero when I was younger. Sort of the spots son as an A list street level hero trained by Spider-Man and allied to his daughter may Parker
I clicked on this because I figured there was no way you were going to convince me Captain freakin' Boomerang could possibly be saved. Thankfully, I was wrong.
I was gonna say how I never really got the concept of Captain Boomerang, then my sister pointed out to me how my favorite Flash villain is Captain Cold. Thinking about it even more, you cleared a lot of the reasons why I didn't care about the movie. The Squad now has a mission that requires them. I actually really liked your rewrite, especially the "always comes back" line.
In my opinion, Suicide Squad should have been an Ocean's 11 style heist movie where the victim is the joker, and where each squad members unique skill set gets utilised for a bizarrely specific element of the robbery.i think that could of been a lot of fun for the audience to see the hustle unfold and how things as random as Boomerangs and Ropes were critical parts of this outlandish master plan.
My God, this was incredible! I would watch the living hell out of your version of the Suicide Squad. The absolute best part, was when you focused on the team working together. Harkness throws his boomerang, and Deadshot bounces the round off and into Enchantress. That alone would have made the movie watchable for me.
Loving this channel so much. I got onto it 2 days ago and went through all the videos super quick, wanted more, but ended up spending ages thinking about all the different ideas and points made. And then I treated myself to a good time by watching tons of comic movies :D keep up the awesome work
Hey Nando, I'm 15 years old and my dream is to make movies one day, I've used your videos as inspiration into my writers book, which is where I put lessons to make movies better. I've watched all your videos I love the channel so much you're videos make me smile ear to ear every time, my hope is to talk to you one day. Much love!
That's amazing! One of my favorite screenwriting books is called Writing Movies for Fun and Profit. It's by Tom Lennon and Robert Ben Garant (the dudes from Reno 911) and its a fun read. Kind of basic but a solid book.
The BOOMERANG squad! See it’s good because it’s got Ang in it. BoomerANG
Did you get the reference?
Iain Hansen I have actually never watched The Last Airbender but in my travels around the internet, I have encountered that line. It's great.
Love that reference 😁
It's one of those things that I would watch if I had the time but there is so much of it that I can never get around to it. Especially with all of the ongoing series I keep up with. And Overwatch. There are only so many hours.
Its one of the best animated show and I too would highly recommend it. Theres a lot to watch and do today but if you can find time it’s worth watching.
Boomerang has Anticipatory Intelligence that makes him a duelist to check the calculating Deadshot.

Christopher Thomson The DCEU is trying to catch up to the MCU. DC is not trying to catch up with Marvel.
The movie really should have been written around executing the line "Boomerangs always come back".
that boomerangs always come back line might have been enough to make me like suicide squad.
Ridiculously cheesy but DC might as well try a more comedic route because their dark and depressing universe isn't working too well.
It made me clench my teeth, I don't know man
"Boomerangs always come back." That was golden
When Boomerang was on The Flash, he said that line four or five times and it was pretty great.
Nando v Movies the television series? I want to get into it but I have a hard time dealing with some of the acting. I'll give it a look though just to hear that line
The acting in season 1 is actually really good. Especially from Tom Cavanagh
You know the bit where wizard lady yanks their weapons away? You know who could have just had their weapon return by itself?
That's genius!
Your story ideas make me very disappointed at all the great opportunities that were missed and wasted. Keep up the great work, hopefully WB will hire you for it.

Johnny Green Face If he was given a chance to write one of the DCEU movies he'd it's certainly worth it.

*Capain Boomerang:* I used to be Boomerang Guy...

Love the use of Boomerang to discuss the movie as a whole. Really helps with the structure of the video. Well done!
Yeah, he really comes back to that a lot, doesn't he?
i gotta say I wasnt expecting much going into this video - the movie just seems so unsalvageable but holy shit this sounds absolutely amazing
Sans Argonauts thanks!
The end of the movie should be all suicide squad members choose to die instead of working for Amanda but she electrocutes them and refuses to let them die. Just like the comics

great take
makes his character have an actual arc
and the foreign espionage heist IS the ideal setting for the team
Everything he said was pretty on point. Loved the fact that he brought up that they (the studio) takes interesting characters and just negates the thing that MAKES them interesting. So true for this movie.

I really, really, REALLY, like your writing and editing style. It's so minimalist, and simple. It gets the point across and it gets out.
No filler.
Thanks!
I say drop the Enchantress angle entirely. superkeaton I like that
That's a good idea... Therefore it doesn't belong in a DC movie produced by WB.
So this is some kind of...suicide squad
That line should have been so much later in the movie. Like late in the game they realize what's going on and then Lawton names the team. Gives it a lot more weight.

Why does every single alternate plot for Suicide Squad work so much better than the actual story?
It was a pretty good interpretation of what should have happened...
BUT THAT BOOMERANG LINE WAS SOLID GOLD.
It's GOLD Jerry! GOLD!
This is perfect. Boomerangs always come back.

Having a Joker that plays second fiddle and uses weird gadgets and laughing gas is a great way to distance the character from Heath Ledger's and avoid comparisons.
HappenedBefore then again, he could betray the leading villain towards the end
Usually whenever harley is involved in Suicide Squad missions she is there because of her knowledge of the criminal underworld
I wanted Waller to use Harley as bait in order to lure Joker to the squad so she can capture him, proving Task Force X's competence... but Joker gets away when the Gotham based criminals, Deadshot and Killer Croc, do nothing to stop him because they know what happens when you mess with Joker.

"So why didn't you just take him out?"
Waller, deadpan: "Because he always comes back."
Jai was so good in the role, I hope he appears again in a Flash movie or Suicide Squad sequel just so that he can develop and become the much more interesting character that his comic counterpart possess.
More interesting than Slipknot?!? com'on!!! It's the guy who can climb ANYTHING!
Man I hate that he died in The Suicide Squad
There were a lot of very good ideas in this video. I especially liked how Captain Boomerang being a master lock picker who happens to throw boomerangs shows signs of thinking through the idea much better than the writers of the movie unfortunately did. Good idea. Good thought process. Keep up the good work.
Thanks!
Wow you deserve way more subs, the quality of your videos is so high!
Also, you should replace zack snyder....
Screw the subs he needs to hired by dc to save their cinimatic universe lol
Watching your videos make me so mad knowing what should've done in these movies. A trick shot at the end with Deadshot bouncing a shot off of a boomerang is an amazing idea!
That sounds better than what we got. It's like a real movie.
One of the few times I have laughed out loud watching a video essay, great stuff, subscribed!
Yes, u finally uploaded. U do not know how long i have been waiting.
Thanks! I'm guessing about a month.
Nando v Movies yep oh and hope u had a nice 2017 I sure didn't
A single sensible chuckle escaped me on that "boomerangs always come back" line, well done. Honestly I would have watched this movie just for this character had it been the one you pitch here.
Trick shot of a bullet bouncing on a boomerang, now that's something that I would love to see!
This is damn near my favorite Chanel now, always quality content
Thanks!
You seriously need a job helping write movies. Just you describing your idea for Suicide Squad was better than thr actual movie . Keep up the great work!
This is so brilliant. You really hit the mark pointing out how the film under utilized each characters gimmick
My favourite DC villain is killer moth I really hope they add him to a movie and don’t butcher him like suicide squad
God I was this close to mentioning KM as one of my favorite Silver Agers but I found out he was from the early 50's. Which blows my mind.
I love moth but if they had him in the dceu they would automatically just turn him into a big demon guy without having any fun with him.
God same
Teen titans KM is best KM
OriginalName outside of the comics he is
On my first viewing of this movie, I came out not really thinking about boomer at all. After reading ostranders suicide squad, he’s one of my favorite comic characters tbh
I absolutely love it man. thank you,for brightening my day
If boomerangs always come back, then i guess i'm a boomerang,'cuz i will always come back to your videos for entertainment.
Aw thanks!
Keep up the amazing videos man
Lemme try writing a tactical nfeakdown for Cpt Boomerang:
Waller: Digger Harkness AKA Captain boomerang
Guy 1: Boomerangs.. Really?
Waller: Ignoring his unique choice of weapon he's a world class safe breaker and lockpick, digital or mechanichal he'll open it in a short amount of time.
Guy 2: Waller we can send in a tactical locksmith (dunno if its a thing)
Waller: Need I remind you he's gone toe to toe with a class A meta and even beat him once. Furthermore his odd weapon choice makes him ideal for hitting targets from blindspots and stealth takedowns. Plus his accuracy is comparable to Lawtons.
Is the class A meta they are referring to The Flash ?
That's true. Their conflict does sound a lot like the Stallone/Statham rivalry in Expendables.
So far of your videos I’ve only watched “Big Gray Villains” and this one. But, wow, these are brilliant. Great work!
+Hanzo Main thanks Hanzo Main. Need healing.
I love the work you do man you describe it so well I can see the movie playing in my head
(they somehow make it worse)
Make it the original 5 X-men versus Magneto on his own.
Okay so did no one notice he called David Habours character from Suicide Squads “Hopps” which is his characters name in Stranger Things???
Man, this definitely made it a better movie just with the turn of the mission concept, boomerang just made it better. Thanks man this was great!
Think The Spot is C-List? He's pretty awesome.
GroovyGreaser I LOOOOOOVE the spot!!! I actually did a redesign of him as a good guy next generation hero when I was younger. Sort of the spots son as an A list street level hero trained by Spider-Man and allied to his daughter may Parker
I mean, my favourite villain is Carnage. Can't get much higher list than him. I also love Mysterio and Shocker.
Just amazing. I'd make a number of changes, but you nailed how a simple change could make a big difference.
I clicked on this because I figured there was no way you were going to convince me Captain freakin' Boomerang could possibly be saved. Thankfully, I was wrong.
Awesome video, can't wait until the next one.
DJ Chapman Me too. Can't wait to see what that new podcast will be too
So much love for your work bruh!
Thanks!
Too many 200 million dollar movies are equivalent to projects that I waited until the night before the due date to do.
Haha this was awesome! I loved it more
I was gonna say how I never really got the concept of Captain Boomerang, then my sister pointed out to me how my favorite Flash villain is Captain Cold.
That would also make Harley Quinn’s presence make more sense. Maybe she could be there to (unknowingly) bait out the Joker or something.
Perfect! I’m glad someone appreciates the appeal of Captain Boomerang, and you managed to write him to fit in the relatively serious universe
A boomerang as a weapon is absolutely ridiculous
A BATerang on the other hand.........toooooooooooootally fine : )
My God, this was incredible! I would watch the living hell out of your version of the Suicide Squad. The absolute best part, was when you focused on the team working together. Harkness throws his boomerang, and Deadshot bounces the round off and into Enchantress. That alone would have made the movie watchable for me.
The movie was going good when the first look came out for the movie but it all failed when warner Bros decided to change the tone in such little time
Loving this channel so much. I got onto it 2 days ago and went through all the videos super quick, wanted more, but ended up spending ages thinking about all the different ideas and points made. And then I treated myself to a good time by watching tons of comic movies :D keep up the awesome work
thanks!
Thank you so much for replying!! It means so much!
10:25 - 10:57 damn man that was GENIUS, honestly gave me goosebumps imagining that part
I'd love for the sequel to be set in santa prisca prison with bane as the villain
James Phelan ohhh! THAT would be genius
Mannnn.... Nando... You are good man... you are really really good...
