A friend who works for a parking company informed me of such a gate at one of the locations he works at. It’s basically a sound pressure level sensor that trips on a audible frequency range at an audio level over 98 db. Basically pull up to the gate and blast the electronic air horn or a quick zap of the siren= gate opens.
Knox boxes are not that secure. The access key on the box can easily be found on line listed by municipalities in many areas. A trade secret that very few know.
If I could find a battery operated gate opener in my region of the world, I have some old P50 radios setup with selectone decoders. Darn thing is they all work on 230 volts. When the power goes out during a thunderstorm who wants to get out of their car to manually open a gate when the power fails. It’s extra work and cost to instal an inverter to power the gate when, if I can bring in a system from the states to do the job with a solar/battery operated system.
All you need is a hardhat and a clip board and no one asks questions..... (Yea, I was out there with permission from county due to me working for -BLANK- Inc)

Interesting. Usually, they use an SOS System. (Siren Operated Sensor)
Never seen any setup like that

I’m guessing that big base antenna is the receiving antenna for the whole thing?
Bingo
Nice, will be doing the same soon for a system to turn highway scale signs on and off
I love how something cheaper could be used.... But no, let's just use $2500 radios XD
Such a waste of an APX.
Why not use a Knox keyswitch?
No Knox Box system there?
Nope. Owner probably didn't want it.

@@Subgunman I’m sorry but that is simply not true. You must be thinking of elevator key boxes or other elevator fire keys.
Was that really the best way of doing this? I mean it works very well but that looks like a very expensive door opener.
Oh there's definitely other ways of doing it. But it's still cool AF and works well

Wow that sounds cool! Also, i'm guessing you are verified to open the control cabinet. But anyways, cool stuff cool stuff!
