Sweet! I see my XTL5000 has the flashcode for 9600 baud. Compatible with a similar data mode? Another ? Is there anyway to "lock out "the radio when it is first turned on? Have that feature on my Legacy Kenwood stack so no one can start transmitting until radios are unlocked.
So even if you have the flash code. You have to remember.. there's a tooooonnnnnn of infrastructure involved. Especially with the Astro stuff I'm doing right now. Somewhere between 60-80 VMs, 35ish router's, and Quantars and GTRs... But yea if you have a system that has IMW you just need data enable. APXs can require a password on bootup. XTS/XTL doesn't have that feature
@ thanks for the info! Good luck in getting the bugs out of the data system really cool! 20+ years ago when I worked at a Kenwood dealership we worked with "extended Fleetsync" which allowed the use of a simple small dumb terminal to send and receive data with other radios within their group on VHF NARROW BAND system. Standard Fleetsync was relegated to simple preprogrammed text messages. Extended Fleetsync required the shop to buy an activation dongle (at a very sizable cost which was passed on to the customer.) with the number of activations needed to fulfill the customers fleet. Hmmm, wonder if Kenwood still offers the extended Fleetsync dongles? Doubtful.
@ it was an acquisition of necessity and convenience working for a K dealer but had I worked for an M shop and could get it for dealer cost, that’s all I would own. Let’s see, collector of working HT’s Mx series, Jedi series(90s), Saber and Astro Saber, Spectra, Maxtracs, XTL5K. Now finding batteries for the MX line……
Yay i got to see it happen for first time 😊
