Missing in action the entire movie: F4F Wildcat fighters. The movie made you think the US carriers went into action without a single fighter flying cover.

Makes this scene comic. At this point in the war the Japanese pilots with their A6M2 Zero's were not only better in skill, but their planes were superior to anything the US navy had for fighters, but somehow 3 Zero pilots can't deal with a single dive bomber. Fury level cringe.
@lehtokurppa7824 empty SBDs were well known for their dogfighting abilities... provided they didn't have extra weight on board. During Nagumo's counter-attack at the Battle of Midway, 6 escort Zeros broke their cover mission to engage 4 SBD's (that were returning to the same CG the japanese intended to attack). Of the 6 Zeros.. two were shot down, two were damaged to the point of having to turn around, and the two remaining were unable to catch back up to their mission formation. No SBDs were shot down, and all returned to their carrier. It's an anecdote, but it says a lot for something that happened in 1942. You should quit treating your disbelief as though it were gospel, and actually learn about what you are trying to talk about.

It was rather slow and chunky but could still hold its own even against superior fighters. If I don’t remember totally wrong the kill ratio when it comes to the Dauntless was like 1:3 meaning that the Japanese lost around three fighters for each Dauntless they shot down. Also remember that most American airmen had superior training then most of its enemies(and allies) plus had extremely durable aircraft that could take enormous amount of damage and still keep flying.

Like how does a random squadron leader know that a carrier reported to be 2000 miles away would be a problem for them in the battle. All available info shows that the carrier likely wouldn’t have been a threat. Sure it ended up being one but how tf would his ass have known that.💀
What are you talking about? The Japanese carriers were complete no-shows in this specific battle, even within the movie. Also, it's not like the squadron leader knows the Japanese carriers would be a problem, he just doesn't trust the information he's been given since it's the same people responsible for failing to anticipate the Pearl Harbor attack.

No, during the battle in midway, you can clearly see that many American planes were shot down when they were trying to bomb the carriers. And the first attack on the Japanese carriers all the American bombers missed their targets. Also when the mitsubishi bombers were trying to bomb the enterprise the Americans couldn't seem to hit any of the bombers except one. And this is historically accurate, dick best did destroy 3 carriers in the span of a single day. And it's also accurate that the Japanese weren't able to hit him. Cause historically their AA guns also sucked. The only shit scene in the movie was the pearl harbor scene where there were many inaccuracies.

A pilot named Vejtesa shot down 3 zeros with his dauntless and he got transferred to be a fighter pilot.

The Mark 13 aerial torpedo equipped with a shroud ring and drag ring was a killer and sank the Yamato. Best aerial torpedo of the war.
Yeah some scenes were a little too cartoonish and sometimes they took to much liberty in portraining events but generally good historical movie
