    This tractor continues to be one of the best investments we have made :-)

      We could have never accomplished what we did without ours. we bought a used 2009 Montana tractor (2840) it was $1300 with a 5ft box blade with 5 ripper shanks. By far the best thing we got for it was a 1950s ish scraper blade with 3 axis pivots for the blade and arm. It does our driveway like a champ. Glad we don't get much if any snow. I was talking to my computer and saying go up it in reverse. Then to my relief it almost seemed like he heard me (not really). He could have used the backhoe to help if needed

      We were in search of a used tractor, very hard to find at the time we were looking during covid, everything was priced very high. This tractor was zero percent financing with zero down for 7 years.....we were both still working at the time and we figured...why not!?!

    Kathy and Rich, I know this snowstorm made for a cold and difficult clean-up; but, Mother Nature's handiwork is gorgeous to see (as I sit warm and cozy watching this video). This snowfall will eventually be another great story you can tell your Grandchildren about the building of your dome home. Spring is just around the corner, so keep your spirits up.

      Thank you so much! We actually LOVE SNOW and we are very cozy in the dome. That said, we are definitely looking forward to spring so we can get the house finished! Next winter should be a very different experience for us :-)

    I agree. Chains will make that job easy.

    You need to adjust the skid shoes to lift the blower up about 2". The blower needs to leave about 1"-2" on the driveway.

    Really enjoy watching your channel. With a bit of welding and cutting you can make your own custom tractor chains. Just purchase bulk length of chain . . . Save money that you can spend on your Queen 👍

      That’s a great idea, I do have my sons welding machine… I’ll look into that for sure! Thanks 👍

    Glad you were able to clear your road despite the tractor trouble. Chains are definitely needed. The snow removal looks like fun from behind a TH-cam screen 😂 missed your appearance this week Cathy we only saw your thumbnail. Good luck!

    That snow blower is a beast. I would definitely pick up a set of chains. Then you will be sure that it won't snow anymore. Lol
    I would imagine that they make a broadcast spreader to spread sand and/or fireplace ashes or maybe just bungee a regular broadcast spreader to the backhoe bucket to save a few bucks. Looks beautiful there

      @CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid  ปีที่แล้ว

      True about the chains😂 they do make a sander for the back of the tractor. We almost bought it last winter and we’re sorry we didn’t. They’re twice as much now!

    When you’re eventually replacing those tires, I’d definitely recommend R-14’s as well. R-4’s with out chains are pretty miserable on snow and much.

    I see how this tool is absolutely a must for your homestead :-). Beautiful wonderland you have there! I'm sure it will get easier as the time goes on. Equipment will be tested, spare parts on stock and you'll enjoy it more :-)

    That is alot of snow! I wondered if the machine was enough to handle the volume. But Rich knows how to handle these machines. Where I'm at, in N.S.,there is very little snow. Mainly we have a minor event, then it warms up and it all melts. Climate change in action. There was a time when I had to frequently snowblow myself in and out of the driveway when I was still working. 🙂👍👍🇨🇦💓

      It’s funny, we always think of Canada as being covered with snow in winter… but things definitely change! I bet you have a better growing season now though… always trying to focus on the positive 😊

      N.S. has the mildest winters In Canada. Other areas are getting hit pretty hard. The winters here are not what they once were.

    Wet snow is very difficult with a hill and snow blower. I know you prob dont want to hear this but you may be better off with a plow or push box and chains rather than a blower. The problem with a blower on a hill is you really cant scrape down to the gravel because you will be sending it though your blower...and on a hill you need to scrape down to the gravel.
