I used to think "Seal" was short for "Sea Lion" and that they were the same thing.
Not that embarrassing on paper, they're pretty similar animals if you don't know any better, but thinking of how confident young me was telling that fact to all of my family as if I had just had just worked out the meaning of life or something is definitely embarrassing in hindsight.
