They don't even know a second language while Europeans mostly know 2 3 other languages other than english. And after hearing some of that you start understanding most of what they say.

Even the other day, I had a small conversation in Spanish with one of the cleaning ladies at my work who's Peruvian (I told her before why I don't speak fluently)... but then when I saw her later in the day, she started speaking really fast as if I could understand, but I didn't know half of what she said. I could only pick up words here and there. People always just start speaking Spanish to me, because they can tell I'm Latina but don't realize my background. I try to learn, but it's hard when there's no way to have consistent conversations with someone to practice. Definitely frustrating, but I'm a proud Chilena regardless. 🤷🏻♀️🇨🇱
My three years of Spanish class let me at least understand what was being said there without needing subtitles 😂 barely remember anything from those classes, but I remembered that! Now responding to them on the other hand…that would be a problem
