I suggest trying a Napa Carlyle ratchet. I have there 3/8 straight all chrome the $20 72t 2 of them and there great. I also have 3 icons a 3/8 chrome straight and I love it after I added superlube. I have the same 1/4 icon as you and there roto head icon and I really like mine to. Mine are the updated generation not the first batches. I liked the video and those mac/ proto ratchets are great I have the Mac 1/2 long straight axis ratchet at work and it's tough. I've stood and jumped on mine and it's never skipped or slipped very pleased.
Didnt know about those Protos. Those look like sweet ratchets I too have a soft spot for SK and Wright round head ratchets.. thank you for the Informative sharing
Had the same issue with back drag on the ICON 1/4” ratchet. I took the 1st one back under warranty because the back drag was so bad. Got the new one home and had the same issue. I took it apart and compressed the spring for the selector switch detent and it helped tremendously on the back drag.
Even though MAC has a locking flex head model I would like to see a locking flex head for the Proto Precision 90. I have no complaints about my precision 90 flex heads. They are beasts. Sometimes I prefer that locking feature, I like the Gear Wrench 84 teeth locking flex head ratchets too.
The 3/8 Titans are known for locking up and I had the same problem with mine but after taking the cover plate off and flooding it with air tool oil and working the gears in I can say its been a problem free ratchet since then
Higher end ratchets always sound and work smoother (because) they are lubed well at the factory where they are manufactured. When buying a mid range ratchet they should always be lubricated well before heavy use, then there performance can actually match a higher end ratchet.
Ive used the crap out of my titam 3/8 ratchet...ive used it a hundred time..mine never did that...you got 2 lemons..mine is the same rachet in your video...that's weird..i hate floppy head rachets...there way nice when have lock postion on the head..

Beautiful proto ratchets, I love those but there are just outta my price range right now. Awesome stuff.

I'm going to do that and see if I can then make myself like it again

I may try that and give it second chance

great video Sir, you should do more Ratchet videos...
Thank you!
A Proto is better than a Dauralast
Wow... I did not know that
That proto is the same as a Mac axis
Yes both come from the same plant
Have you pulled the guts on the Mac and Proto? I known you said there the same, just wondering why there’s screws on the selector side of the Mac? I
Mostly wondering if a rebuild kit is interchangeable if I had a 3/8 of each
Yup they are the same.
