Mikaelaxoxo1 and Andrea Sullivan, This can be made as an adult hat with a larger loom - 36 peg green, 48 peg purple or 41 peg yellow Knifty knitter or equivalent. Since there are more pegs, continuing the decreases will make it proportionately longer. You may or may not want to do an extra row of each color in the stripes.
I just made this little hat and I love it so much... your videos are the best every... I have made the dog sweater and the yoga socks also. We are showing them both off... Thank you again... If I could I would love to email my creations if that is if you would like to see them.
Adelle Smith to loom a baby cocoon, you are pretty much making a giant, upside down hat. A sac, gathered at the bottom, is just a hat turned upside down. You'll want to knit it longer than a hat, of course, and you'll want to make it larger in circumference. The yellow KK loom won't be wide enough unless it is for a premie. A larger round loom, such as what cindwood crafts offers would work. An adjustable loom, such as the all n one by AKB, or the Martha Stewart loom would also work. Just configure either in the round, large enough to make the circumference you want. The Cindwood and MS looms allow you to do a larger gauge/chunky yarn cocoon OR a regular gauge. The All N One would be regular/small gauge.
I would recommend doing the mattress stitch to stitch up the back. It would be much flatter and hidden. Just a suggestion. I want to make a 36 peg version of this one and see how it turns out. Thank you!!!
why is it that no matter how many of these tutorials I watch nobody does a knit/purl rib stitch on the brim? it's the basics to a hat like this...at least you show how to do the purl stitch so I can do it..Although I think you made the decreasing process about 10x herder than it needed to be and 1000x easier to make a mistake...unless someone was to put a marker on each peg the decreased so they knew which one was the last one.. much easier to bind it off right then and there. by moving it over.
Thank you for such a wonderful tutorial! I would like to try making this for an adult. Do I need to buy more yarn? How do I figure out how much yarn I will need? Thank you so much!
Kristin Keenan She answered some comments below (searched it for same reasons ^^) Just take bigger loom and work everything double after same principe :)
have a question im doing an adult hat on 41 peg you did 31 peg and said decrease until you have 17 in use how did you come up with that number that means 14 decreases please explain thanks for your great videos ive done many of them.
hiii dear.. i really adore all your vids all of them are awesome plz do more and more im so excited with ur vids im learning alot from ur vids 😍😍😍😇😇😇plzzz do more 😙😙😙
I wonder if (with a little tweaking) this pattern could be used for a Santa hat… Think that would work? If so, what size loom would be best for an adult?
i know this is probably a dumb question but im trying to make this for an adult, this is obviously possibly on a bigger loom right? im a beginner on looms and still a work on progress lol your videos are very helpful and i just wanted to ask my beginner question 😂
Cortney Snyder +Tabitha Koneval She answered some comments below (searched it for same reasons ^^) Just take bigger loom and work everything double after same principe :)
Mikaelaxoxo1 hi! Yes, you could use the 41 peg loom and double up all the sizes (work the double of the lenght for the brim part, the double of the length for the next part, etc..)... :)
Thank You! I am currently writing out a pattern or myself that merges the beginning of the Ponytail Beanie with Braids (the 1x1 rib stitch & dangling braids on each side) and the adult version of this hat. I have to wait a few more days before I can start playing around with the pattern because my yarn hasn't come in the mail yet. If it turns out as cute on my loom as it looks in my head can I email you the results? I really hope it at least turns out nicely. Just a side note, but I love your patterns and have been using them to teach myself how to loom knit. Your videos are so well done and easy to follow and I just wanted to let you know how much I, and obviously many others, truly appreciate all the hard work. Thanks again and hopefully I'll be sending you a picture of my finished product soon! (。◝‿◜。)
Hello from sunny Florida! I wanted to ask if you are using a double strand of worsted weight 4 for all colors or are you using a bulky 5 or 6 worsted weight yarn? I began making this with one strand of worsted weight 4 and it seem a bit to airy. I love this hat and the video is great. Thanks for time you take to teach others. Kelly
Kelly Dykes hi! :) Here we used a yarn called Katia Canada www.katia.com/lana.php?idLana=canada&lng=EN (I guess it's weight 5). Maybe you could use 2 strands of your yarn at the same time...
Tuteate Thank you very much! I am working on the hat now and have used 2 strands of weight 4. Now I'm wondering if it's going to be a bit bulky or heavier than I want. Oh well, it's a beautiful hat, a remarkable tutorial and I so appreciate your quick response. I have lots of plans to make some fun hats thanks to your tutorial. Now, to find a video on looming diaper covers. :)
Win IRISSANDAR I did another hat myself two times with working in different direction on the second. Worked fine. And if you start at another peg then the one with the holder below, you just have to remember or mark where you start ^^
Red and white for Christmas! Or green and white for an elf! I just need to work it out on a bigger loom! Ha! I have plenty of time 😜
Great, thanks 😉
Japafehes Madrigal great ideas! :) We'd love to see your versions of this hat when you have them.... :)
did you use a bigger loom and what loom im using 41 peg so i dont know how many to leave in use she says 17 out of 31 would love to share ideas

That's what I'm going to do.
Hi Adelle Smith ! :) Thank you so much. We'll make a baby cocoon in a future video tutorial (and we'll try the cat bed idea too). Thank you!
Yes cat bed😍😍😍
I know this was from 4 yrs ago; but, do you have a tutorial for a teenager long tail hat as well as one for an adult? Thanks.
I just made this little hat and I love it so much... your videos are the best every... I have made the dog sweater and the yoga socks also. We are showing them both off... Thank you again... If I could I would love to email my creations if that is if you would like to see them.

your decreases make a lot more sense than the ones on Jeannie Phillips's scarf hat, so I'm going to sub yours for hers
Your long stocking cap tutorial is great!! I am in the process of decreasing stitches to close. I'm a newbie, but this looks doable, so thanks again!!
I love ALL of your tutorials. Can you do a video on how to loom knit a baby cocoon? And maybe a cat bed?
I would recommend doing the mattress stitch to stitch up the back. It would be much flatter and hidden. Just a suggestion. I want to make a 36 peg version of this one and see how it turns out. Thank you!!!

I wonder if (with a little tweaking) this pattern could be used for a Santa hat… Think that would work? If so, what size loom would be best for an adult?
Yes, it perfectly could :) (I would work it shorter, though) For an adult size I recommend you the 41-peg round loom
i know this is probably a dumb question but im trying to make this for an adult, this is obviously possibly on a bigger loom right? im a beginner on looms and still a work on progress lol your videos are very helpful and i just wanted to ask my beginner question 😂
I'm wondering the same thing! And how much would the rounds change?

It is the same hat but made for older children and adults. And she is awesome and goes slow.

Will this work for an adult hat?
I would like to know this as well. I would love to make one of these using the 41 peg loom. Any advice would be greatly appreciated =D

I'm just learning how to loom knit. Is that how you'd start the beginning of hats if you don't want the curled brim?
you would alternate purl and knit stitch
Is there a printed version of this pattern in English?
Do you know were I get the pattern for this hat

Great tutorial Tuteate! thanks so much for your efforts. For adult size would it be the same principle using a bigger loom?
+happigal78 thank you! Yes, exactly, for an adult size we would use a bigger loom and work in the same way on it
If you were going to make this for a newborn, would you need to use a smaller round loom? Would the 31 peg be too big?
I'm using the 31 peg right now
31 pegs is perfect for newborn, just use a thiner wool
Thank you so much for yours tutorials.I so so love.and please can I ask you . these tutorials are for a left hand.your start peg is different for me.
Win IRISSANDAR I did another hat myself two times with working in different direction on the second. Worked fine. And if you start at another peg then the one with the holder below, you just have to remember or mark where you start ^^

I like your video, it is easy to follow. Thank goodness you aren’t speaking so I can turn off that horrible repetitive music.
