I was until just now. I'd blocked out post-mini Azvaldt from my memory.
I personally am as Azvaldt was the set where I really got into Shadowverse CCG. I played Wrath Blood since Howling Demon is one of my favorite cards of all time (I love his art, sound effects and Shadowverse Flame got me to fall for him) and it was a blast! Cool early combos to get Flauros or late game combos to kill with Garodeth was cool for me. Hyped to play this again though I am certainly not excited to play against Enhance Portal lol (I have a personal bad track record against this deck since I'm not a good player lol)

While I think the idea of Throwback is fine and most card games would like this implementation, Shadowverse isn't really one of those. The metas are solved pretty fast and with little ways to shake it. So in a throwback, you played 2 or 3 days and you already saw the whole format. I just wish they would hit the top 3 or 4 decks even slightly and see how it goes.
As for Azvalt, I didn't really like the format all that much in general. It was fun sometimes but it's ultimately the kind of format that I don't like, play a combo OTK deck and end on turn 7-8 (preferably 7) with big damage, the rest doesn't matter with every class feeling the same with slight differences. The only fun I had with were Armed and Wrath pre-Flauros.
Also, GOD DAMN, the format is EXPENSIVE, holy maccheroni, I forgor the amount of legendaries needed to play some of the top tiers. Not having the cards really hurts xD. I salute the new players that want to get into this format and have to load 30-40k+ vials into one deck just for one month.
returning player here. not gonna spend a dime in a digital card game. especially one where it often feels like you had 0 chance to win. i say especially but most card games feel like this🤣

You played your own decks or using others? That is difference between old rotations and new rotations. In old rotations you atleast CAN to play some interesting stuff (somehow). In latets - you just can't (the reason why, you said in your comment)
Worst offender is Rivayle, the format had some variety at first, but then Rally Portal came out, got nerfed, and we got the entirety of month 3 with Tier 0 Loxis. Throwback Rota is a letdown.

I was excited about the Azvadlt at first beacuse when I heard the news, I was only thinking about the first half of the meta that I really enjoyed. This video reminded me of how much I hated the post-expansion meta. I hated it so much that I quit Shadowverse until Order Shift came out.
I think I'm still going to try it, there are still a ton of decks from before the mini expansion that were fun to play and I wanna try again, but I hope I won't feel the same way I did back then or that the meta won't be as stale.

THANKS YOU for saying the facts with the "last patch only" issue.
Most of my concerns are based on this fact, like you had Hozumi Forest with Garuel which was really fine in Rotation especially outside of the tournament meta and the real issue was more towards UL Garuel Hozumi which would be fine to have alongside the 6/6 Colonel in Atomy.
Other issues like that could be guided towards obnoxious metagames for last months like Vellsar where Artifact and LW were dominant for their last month 'cause of absurd buffs on cards that were rotating out, missing out on the crazy Evo meta of Blood, Haven and even Dragon at the time.
Another example of bad metagames would be WLD, where 2 days before SFL they did a patch and it broke the format completely and not in a good way. WLD 2nd and 3rd month were fine (even if i have a preference towards 2nd month, 3rd was still fine) but the last patch was just bad, basically calling you to pick up any Aggro deck you could still play while waiting for SFL. How in the world it's would be fine to let such an obnoxious patch which lasted 2 freaking days be a Throwback Rotation format ?
While nothing has been told for after those 3 months, all these examples are definitely proving that the format has a major issue and is not showing the better sight of each expansion to the players who never had the chance to touch them before.
wtf Hozumi in rotation was absolute cancer and literally everyone hated it, including the people who played it.

Please don't exaggerate things when truly the real culprit was Hozumi in Unlimited.
The deck in Rotation was having struggles just to stay in the top 5 of the meta while still being one of the most interesting decks to theorycraft around due to the multitude of gameplans you could go on with it.
Meanwhile in Unlimited ? The deck threw so much bullshit at you that literally 3 OTK variations of it were at the top of the meta and Atomy was a viable answer just because it was fast enough on a highroll. Which was countered by the only viable Control variation which puts too much pressure for it.
Don't let yourself be fooled by what you felt of the deck : the facts are here and you can look back at JCGs if you want.
Anyway, if all you have to do is baseless trashtalk on Hozumi while the whole point is far from just Hozumi, feel free to.
@@BSG_BeerMoney Brother. I never said the deck was good. Ultimate Bahamut decks aren't good either and still everyone hates playing against those.
But if you want to argue data, why don't you look at the winrates in ratings while that deck was around? Pretty sure there was at least one day where Forest was the only class with a positive winrate. The deck was just extremely highrolly, that's why it had no success in a tournament setting. Another reason why it was so hated.
Aslong I don't have to play against the pre-nerf Storm Rune, I'm actual fine with it.
Monkey paw format on one hand I get to play with my belovee azvalt loot again (the 2nd deck with roger is not fun IMO) but on the other I'm probably gonna lose 60% of my games to cuttroth and his loli

What are they doing about alterations to cards that they buffed for UL. The Armed package is different from what it was during Azvaldts launch. Doesn't feel like a throwback when there's stronger versions of decks that existed during that time.
They'll revert them all to what they were during that meta, so don't worry in that regard. That said, Unlimited and Custom Rota players will get screwed over because they are applied to all formats for some unjustifiable reason.

@@EclipseZer0 it still feels kinda scuffed. They now have to do a juggling act to flip switches on cards reverting them to how they were. For only a month. A part of me is like, just let it rip with the current adjustments and have a different meta and fix something if it is a problem.

Throwback rotation managed what a very small amount of shit metas could throughout the story of this: it made me quit the game.
The format is just not fun. It's fun for newbies who can be like "Oh yeah, this is what it used to be like? Let's check it out." For someone like me, who already went through it, it's merely reliving cancer that I used to hate without presenting any redeeming qualities. *On top of that, it's not even beginner-friendly*. There's no way to earn throwback tickets except login and special events. People have to balance spending both gold *and* vials to get the best cards out of not 1, but 5 packs. The worst offender for me personally is that there's no way to keep playing the Heroes of Shadowverse meta, the only thing that was still keeping me in the game.
Y'all have fun picking one of two poisons this time around. Either a deck that: 1) its whole mechanic resolves around mana-cheating; 2) has some of the best healing in the game, so much the only other deck that can keep up does so by virtue of being able to kill from 20 through a damage shield; 3) has 2 different wincons in both combo damage that 100-0s you and Ultimate Bahamut destroying your whole deck and leaving you no chance for comeback or playing the long game.
Or a deck that easily controls the board throughout the whole match *while* hitting you in the face AND healing back to 20 at the same time **and also** never running out of cards in hand.
Did I mention there's a go-2nd ramp card, so you can go "Haha, I'm going first now!"?
Whoever's sticking with the game and has to deal with one of these decks, let me console you in one way: at least one of you is going to have fun. Good luck.

But this is the main reason of this mode. There no more new cards. So, in some times, someone will happy to play, someone will not. I'm sure, that you have a rotation, which liked too. Not satisfited with current? Unlimited or custom as choice. Do not play them? Wait and go to other game for some while
15 days before mini and 13-16 days after mini is good idea, but maybe they're too lazy to ban every mini expansion cards every one month, kinda understandable this game is dead soon anyway

Everyone can't be happy. Because people have different "tastes", as always. Game is not exception. I'm waited such mode, like Throwback Rotation, because I'm once again can play the old rotations (expansions), like Colosseum or Dawnbreak Nightedge. Why? Because you can atleast try to play as you wanted, or in other words, you can once again enjoy to play the game. Lates expansions - is about insane "combos vombos". And gameplay is VERY asselerated. I don't like latest expansions. Especialy, the last one - it's broke everything. Your space and followers mean nothing. Everyone can end match from their hand, like it did only D-Shift/Roach in past. Every meta (almost) like D-Shift/Roach and it's should supposed be "fine". But it's not "fine". That's why, I'm glad, that I can once again play the old rotations. But not all will happy about that. Most of people satisfited with latest expansions. Sadly.

Among the Brazillian discord i think its mostly unanimous that Post Mini Azvaldt is so much worse than post buff meta that came before it. Not only because of Judith, but because the decks were way more out of hand otks and burst with board barely being a thing. Valnareik buff imo is completely random and unecessary, Judith is a absurdly pushed card that only works for one archetype. Also, Gilnelise and Bahamut were both legal still, making lots of decks absurdly frustrating, and that was worse during the mini imo.
Will probably skip this month, not even gp i feel like playing because i despise Enhance portal and its fake highlander deck...
