We’ve got stunning attractions such as: spooky ghosts, creepy sounds from the basement, a monster manta ray, mustached plumbers jumping through the floorboards, leaks in the men’s room, drink samples, and…oh we’re all out of pineapples! Please enjoy your stay at Hotel Delfino!
I cannot believe just how many things there are in Sirena Beach. A lot of unexpected secrets, bizarre glitches, and wow there’s a lot you can do with King Boo. Going into this, I didn’t expect much at all, since the walls in Hotel Delfino are pretty sound (oddly enough). We found a way to break them, don’t worry, but for a while there I was worried about the amount of content. You have to really dust off the cobwebs for some of these. I mean, did you honestly think the lamp in the casino…well that’s a little bit of a spoiler.
This is a series where we take a stage, level, or whatever, and dissect the most interesting bits and bobs. Also, Pianta Extras is here to stay (for Super Mario Sunshine at least)!
Also if it's not clear, SOME spoilers.
We'll be going over:
Secrets: Uncovering the stage's most well hidden secrets. There is one blue coin we need to discuss this time, but I usually don't go over blue coins and secret shines unless it's part of a glitch.
Exploits/Tricks: Not quite a glitch, but a move that does take advantage of the game in unexpected ways.
Tips: Yeah, I’ve actually got a tip this time!
Pianta Extras: an overview of some of the best dialogue in the stage.
Glitches: Wall clips and other wild game malfunctions.
Challenges: I have a few small challenges sprinkled in there this time.

I have an alternate theory about the female Pianta at 22:12. What if she doesn't have a crush on the male Pianta inside the pool but INSTEAD is sensing paranormal activity that Mario and the other guests can't see... 😮
I mean the hotel already is somewhat haunted with all the boos floating about, but maybe these are other spirits that aren't boos... 🤔

Maybe the female Pianta actually...is a ghost herself? This is intriguing! Nice theory!

40:03 it's actually called the Mario camera as stated by the uhh little booklet that comes with the game that explains the controls.

The manual also includes a possible glitch/technique in Mario 64, the Forwards Sideflip. The only difference is that it's ridiculously easier to do in Sunshine than in 64.
Some games also call it "over the shoulder view" if I'm not mistaken.
Actually, you can get a 4th 1-up mushroom in the Hotel Lobby Secret by spraying the 3 strollin' stus so they fall on their head. Once you've sprayed all 3 of them, jump on one of them and a 1-up will appear
u can do this infinitely for free 1 ups!
Actually, 6. If you hover over the stus in a way so they flop over in like a triangular shape, ground pounding all 3 at the same time gives you 3 1-ups. Get the other three for a total of 6!
i wish they made this map bigger. it’s my favorite out of the whole island and the atmosphere is such a vibe

5:44 there is actually a 4th 1-up. If you spray all three of the strolling stews (idk what they're spelled like), making sure they are all upside-down, jump one of them. That will get you another 1-up

So, how tasty are those words?
I have an assumption about why you can only see the attic when warping to the bottom of the void: Maybe the other floor levels have a despawning script, but the attic does not. Why I think this is, because you travel up the hotel, meaning, as the hotel itself is filled with objects and textures, you can never see up or down it towards the next or previous floor. The attic, however, has blackness all around it, and a very zoomed out camera, so, if the previous floors would not despawn, you could see them below. Just a theory, however.
Edit: Another theory: Maybe, for loading the attic, the game is simply checking if you are not on any other floor. If you are in the void, you are of course not on any other floor, so the game simply loads the attic, without checking if you actually ARE in the attic.

I was 9 when this game came out, so I wasn't scared; more like pleasantly surprised at how creative (and difficult!) the manta boss fight was. It's still one of my favorite boss fights ever: Manta rays are among my favorite sea creatures, the design of the electric goop, the pissed off baby Mantas, the reference to The Shining...pure awesomeness!

Watching all of these yet again waiting for your next video. (Yes I do do other things but I love the videos you make so I keep coming back when I have nothing better to do.) The way you structure every video and have witty commentary that. While you're not trying to go for big laughs. Is enough to be VERY entertaining and make me laugh a little. And just being honest. Ya got a nice voice that ties it all together. Take as long as you need to make videos i'm by no means trying to rush you. Just love that they're something I can look forward to. And not just the sunshine videos. I've loved everything so far.
13:40 ish: There is another way to despawn the electro koopas shell, you have to go to pinna park (near where the pianta tree thing is with the "snot fruit" lol) and bait him near enough to where he does his attack near the water, his shell gets stuck near the edge and it dissapears rendering him naked...
Also if you spray water at him while he's naked it shows him with his shell only for a few seconds, if you wait long enough their shells eventually grow back I found this out while I was dicking around (if anyone else found this as well then I'm not the only one).

I actually did know about the 1 up in the casino. I was blue coin hunting years ago and I found it. With that said I had no idea about being able to climb that lamp so you taught me something new in a game I where I’ve found almost all the secrets. Kudos to you for that.

Gonna be honest I found that 1 up by accident as well. I was spraying the Dolphin sign because I thought it would have a coin or something. I got a 1 up and thought it came from the sign.

The pink Pianta lady might say that she hates the crowd and is therefore un the empty pool room.Also,there is a bug that accured on a SMS speedrun where rhe Manta just fell through the floor and instantly died.

Sirena Beach is an awesome stage. It nails the creepy and expansive atmosphere with the hotel interior, and the picturesque but intimidating sunset beach outside.
I also get excited when I go to hotels. They're such a cozy, liminal, endless vibe, usually with good pools and a good breakfast. Some video games and especially films have probably influenced my love for it.
Whenever I see your videos in my recommended , I watch them. I have seen the Rico harbour secrets video at least 3 times, and when I saw that this was a new one , It made me excited !

One completely random thing I did once in Sirena Beach was, in Episode three, right before grabbing the Shine Sprite, jumping off of Yoshi. I think I was either trying to infinite hover into the Shine, or to jump off Yoshi, grab the Shine, and then land back on Yoshi. However, I guess the water was just deep enough for Yoshi to decide to die in, so I got to see Yoshi's death animation during the Shine Get scene.
Also, it is possible to get the Electrokoopa to loose its shell and pause awkwardly before growing a new one back in Pinna Park. After entering the park and heading to the right, you can bait the Electrokoopa on the hill which rises toward the Ferris wheel into shooting his shell of the side of the hill, or even into the water if possible. You get the same effect as you showed in this video, just in a different setting.
By the way, I love your videos. You always put lots of effort in, find things lots of people never knew about, and all your videos are masterpieces. You always inspire me to go out and try random things in Sunshine. It really is a pity you haven't been discovered by too many people yet; you deserve more subscribers.

Hey Particular Mushroom! Awesome video, really insightful! One thing I thought you could have gone over in the Pianta dialog section is how the hotel manager has seemingly ill intent towards Mario, stuttering his words and accidentally giving away that he is trying to trick you.

You can also remove the shell of a particular electro-koopa in Pinna Park (the one walking along the path near the Pianta tree), by making it throw its shell into the pool of water.

I always made shadow mario go back and forth in a single segment of his route, did so naturally since the first time you chase him they do say cut him off. His path always break when you cut off.
Also stand at a certain distance far enough away that it seems like you arent hurting him, and he does not continue walking when you spray him, keep spraying him till you get a feeling he must be defeated now. Walk towards him as soon as you enter hit detection (flashing red) range he drops down defeated since you just continuesly sprayed him whilst he stood still.
I managed to do it on 3 seperate occasians so far after I remember doing it as a kid on accident. (got into the game again less then a week ago cause why not)
