- I'm finally back with another Sunshine video! Took long enough!
The first video in an experimental series where we take a stage, level, or whatever, and dissect the most interesting bits and bobs. We're going to start with personal favorites of mine, Pianta Village and Super Mario Sunshine. Want to know where all those coins are hiding? Need to beat Episode 5 without Yoshi? Want more mushroom? We've got it all here!
Also if it's not clear, SOME spoilers.
We'll be going over:
Secrets: Some of the stage's most well hidden secrets. And I don't mean just Shines and Blue Coins!
Tips: A few strategies to help out your Sunshine gameplay
Glitches: Mostly wall clips, but also some other wild game malfunctions.
Exploits/Tricks: Basically anything cool that doesn't fit the other categories (I could come up with an actual definition but that's seriously what it is)
I figured out a number of these on my own, but I couldn't have figured out many coin locations without this helpful guide:

Hello all! Felt the need to pop up a comment. I am, absolutely floored by response I'm getting for these videos. Only three videos in and we’ve hit over 450 subscribers, which is already past any reasonable expectations I had for this channel. You know what's funny I just found your channel today and I see that you hadn't uploaded in a month. I thought this was a dead channel I head over to the comment section and I find this comment which was made 13 hours ago. I'm glad to know this channel isn't dead. Keep up the great work.
Absolutely loved the video. I know people are complaining about your voice and the slower paced videos, but I really really enjoy that part of it. It's like a slightly more polished version of old-style youtube content with more of a focus on the content itself instead of branding and crazy 3 minute intros, with decent commentary and actual unique information instead of the same few "secrets" copy-pasta'd around by every channel on youtube. Really enjoyed, please keep it up!

I no longer have the gamecube so am using an emulator and rom on my PC. It's not perfect but its' okay. It ran better on XP. Currently, there's no sound. Anyone else using ems&roms?
PS: I've been playing Mario et al since it first came out. I'm now 54yrs old and still love it. Favorite game consul is still the N64.

3 years later, I was really surprised to see your channel never truly took off in term of subs, the content is interesting, the editing is really well made and your voice is great. I watched your mario sunchine serie with a great interest and its definitely the best mario sunchine related content I have seen so far.

Well that's great to hear, congrats! I talk to NPCs now...heh.
I talked to every possible npc in this game and gladly listened to what they said. That was probably because I was 6 when I started playing sms. Best 3 years of my life.

I started talking to npcs when i didn't have cut in pokemon emerald and was at lilycove city.
Also i do a kick jump (the one where you reverse direction spraying dirt as you jump) and transition to hover to climb that tree where you do a triple jump. (Easier in my experience)
I also talk to NPCs, The green male Pianta and the female purple Pianta in Pianta Village has become a running gag in all 8 Episodes XD (The green one doesn't like Mario that much in the first five Episodes, he chucks Mario out of the way, and in Episode 6, when you save him, he still chucks you when you talk to him, but he also spawns the blue coin/1-up as well. The purple one gives you a hint of what to do to get the Shine Sprite, angrily in Episode 1.
9:00 Finally! The glitch that I discovered as a child. I was looking for it so much time. Although I reached that "cloud world" near the biggest tree. Hahah I thought It was a secret and tried to get that place in many ways unsuccessfully, but when getting all of the blue coins and shine sprites I realized It was a glitch.

I remember when I was a kid, the first thing I actually thought about was going into the edge of the stream to carry water droplets to put out the goop, and then damage boost to the mayor's mushroom because I didn't know or think to take the underground fences. I'm so happy you mentioned them here!
I don’t know why it took me so long to find your videos. They’re really amazing! Mario Sunshine is one my all time favs and Pianta Village has always been my favorite course in the game as well! I played it to 100% prolly 20 times since it came out. Some of these secrets I know but even after playing so many times they’re are new things I’m finding through these videos. This is a very well made video, fast enough to keep attention, but slow enough to get information across as well as explaining things well enough to not leave people in the dark, along with snappy editing and good visuals. Definitely subscribing for more content.

Hi! I discovered this glitch as a kid, and always loved doing it. In the episode called "Chain Chomp's Bath", you can run into the hot tub while the chain chomp is going into it. This allows you to be inside the Chain Chomp after he turns golden. Just thought I would let you know! :D
Love your videos, don't really have anything to say about improvements and all but Sunshine is my favorite Mario game and I love seeing videos like this about it. Keep it up!

Me and my brother love your videos! So many useful tips and secrets but all presented in a entertaining way unlike most walkthrough videos. By the way, I found something similar to the roof-sprinting glitch in Delfino Plaza but it works with the slopes of the big trees. Thought I'd let you know. :)

I remember getting to the bottom of the chasm in Pianta Village by sliding down the tree a certain way, this was years ago though. I was a little glitch/exploit hunter and found a bunch on my own.
Getting under the water in Delphino Plaza
Getting into the Pinna Park cannon with the worker inside, by ground pounding as opposed to the fruit method.
Clipping into certain buildings and props
The shortcuts in Blooper Surfing
And more that I can't remember, but great childhood. Super Mario Sunshine is still one of my all time favorite games.
Jesus, I can't watch any of your videos without laughing. I'm pretty sure it's next to impossible. There's always at least one gag that catches me off guard, like when you were making fun of the enemy stuck on the fence and it got free. Keep up the good work.

This video is awesome! Please make more! I thought it would be neat if you hid the little mushrooms throughout the video but hide them pretty well. You could have, like 10 in each episode and you could see who found all of them in the comments. Just an idea. You did great!

Side Note: Shadow Mario is supposed to have a health bar, but it never appears because the timer of how long the health bar is visible always stays at zero. This is visible in the Coop mod when damaging player 2.
I found it out by TCRF research right here: tcrf.net/Super_Mario_Sunshine, which contains a bit more info about it, but also contains more things never seen that may be interesting.

The pacing of your videos has gotten much better over time, but it still gets painfully slow at times... Congrats on the 500 subs
Here's a little glitch/wall clip that I did...somehow. I'm not sure how this happened but I'll do my best to explain it. In episode 8 of Pianta village, I was climbing the tall tree in the middle. At some point I grabbed one of those fluff things that was partially in the tree. It clipped Mario right through the tree and the fluff despawned, letting Mario fall. I was on the ground inside the tree and after about one or seconds of standing, I died. Sadly, I wasn't able to recreate this glitch/wall clip. I just thought I would let you know about this 😉

I actually had an instance of Shadow Mario teleporting on me in the middle of my Sunshine LP in Sirena Beach. I was a little surprised to say the least.

You can also clip into the big chain chomp by dragging it to the hot spring and having Mario fall into the water while the chomp's falling in animation plays. It's kinda difficult to do since you have to make sure that Mario falling into the water will drag the chomp close enough that it triggers the animation, making it land on Mario while he's in the water. And they have to be done at THE EXACT SAME TIME or the chomp will get in before Mario or just run away when he lets go. When you do it right though you can chill out inside the chomp which is kinda cool I guess.
As soon as I saw the 3rdpole teleport glitch, I was reminded of something similar by sliding down the wall near the endless pit

I remember when I first played piñata village, I never knew you were supposed to go into the pits, so I used the water around the tree to clear the goop, and jump-dive onto the platform
Pianta Village can actually be the first level you beat. The collision of the gate is different before the statue is cleaned off, letting you wall kick off the inside of the round part instead of sliding down. You can use this to get into the pipe without the rocket

I never knew to ground pound the mushrooms 😱 but when you do the episode of chain chomps bath i ground pound the barrels and FLUDD fills up again😊
8:37 Man, finally someone else talked about that weird glitch. I found it as a kid and had absolutely no idea how I did it so I was unable to replicate it. :
I figured out the shine in the sun on my own by random chance. I noticed the shine symbol on the wooden structure, and figured there had to be some reward for reaching the tallest point in the map. So I just started spraying everywhere until I hit the sun a bit and boom: Shine Sprite.

The damage boost trick is how I originally beat that lava goop episode as a kid, I can't believe the devs didn't see that one coming

This episode of Particular Mushroom, but every "Particular" speeds up the video by 10% and every edit is "We Are Number One" but every "One" is The Legend 27 ad.
I don't know if it happened to anyone else (and it's probably a minor bug) but once , in the chain chomp's bath level , after the chomp got his bath and turned golden , I randomly sprayed some water on him and some sparks (like those who come out from paintings or hidden suns paintings) came out of him , with the regular sound effect .
