i never in my life thought i would be somebody who wakes up at 7am and goes out for an 8k run but from the beginning of this year i've done it! and i absolutely LOVE that i can do it! it makes me feel incredible in myself
This time last year I couldn't even run for a minute and now I'm training for my first half marathon. It's definitely not easy and totally a mental battle but it's SO worth the feeling when you finish and realise what you've achieved. Fab video Niomi! x
12 years of running later, my favorite advice is still this: You'll never regret going for your run, but you'll always regret not going for your run. Because think abt it...when you don't run or workout you feel like crap and then think all day about how you should have just done it. But when you do run, even if it sucks sometimes, you will 9 times out of 10 feel great after and be proud of yourself for getting it done even when you didn't feel like it. It always helps to think of the positive end result :)
I began running around Easter 2016 after being inspired by Niomi's marathon videos and also by Greg James' triathlon. I'm running my third 10K race in a couple of weeks and have raised over £500 for charity. Another good tip is to do something like BHF's MyMarathon which is great for motivation (running the 26.2 miles of a marathon within a month). Great video Niomi and I hope the builders go soon! X
Thanks for not just being a boring, seemingly self-absorbed TH-camr who just does clothing hauls and makeup videos. I don't mind those videos sometimes, but sometimes I feel like a lot of you tubers appear to lack substance. I like it when they raise awareness using their platform for animals, those less fortunate, health/cancer awareness or something good. Just seeing that they can give back and promote The mentality of generosity instead of always being about material things.
Loved this! You were one of the people who inspired me to run the London Marathon this year. The reason I ran was to prove that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. I filmed the whole 16 week training on my channel and then a video on tips I learnt in the hope it will inspire others :)
I can't even explain how helpful this video is. I'm doing Race for Life in a couple of weekends and taking part in the 5k Pretty Muddy and the 10k run, and I've been really worrying about doing both and I haven't ran 10k before. This video has definitely given me the confidence to be able to do it, plus some new tips that I will definitely be taking on board! Thank you!! x
I can't stand running, but I had to take it up as part of my training for a 125 mile kayak marathon. I found that a new pair of nice running shoes made all the difference to motivate me, and my partner and I crossed that finish line after four days racing as two of the youngest competitors (15 years old) best feeling!
This video was so helpful Niomi❤️ I stopped watching youtube for awhile and just now rediscovered your channel and its already really helping me, because I tend to get stressed out about running and really not wanting to go even though I enjoy it and am naturally good at it. This video really calmed my nerves, your content is always so good. Just wanted to say thank you! Xxx
Mafia Honey using the app it takes 3 months, you do 3 runs a week but you already alternate between running and walking and slowly build up your fitness! You should try it
This video could not have come at a better time. I am starting into my fitness journey and this was just the sort of thing I was looking for. Thank you so much!!
Thank you so much Niomi! These tips have helped me so much, my aim is to one day run the London marathon, but I have never known where to start, these tips have all really helped!congratulations on running the London marathon I remember when you first started talking about doing it! 💗💕
Parkrun is great for anyone looking to get into running, they happen all over the uk every week and you can be any ability and go and join whenever and whichever you fancy !!
Within these past two weeks my boyfriend and I actually just started going to the gym and going on walks/jogs at a local park. These tips are so helpful for our beginning days! :) I look forward to seeing some results.
Love this!! I have signed up for a 10k run and I have been training for about 2 months and I find it super hard unlike others who seem to pick it up quicker! These are great tips and super helpful!!! THANK YOU!!! x
UK especially but some other countries have them now too - parkrun! most towns have one every Saturday at 9am, walk, jog, run, mix of each it'd whatever you can do and the community and support is amazing.
Thanks for this video!! Helps me a lot!! I don't ever plan on running a marathon but I'm a month I'm doing a 5 mile race that I'm not ready for!! This video was totally what I needed!! Thank You!!
I'm so glad u made this! I've been running for 10 years and it has totally helped me get my mind off hard times and I went from being obese to supper skinny!
Angelslove02 one simple way is to inhale through your mouth for 3 steps, then exhaling through you mouth for 2 steps. It helps moderate your breathing so you don't get running cramps, and it distracts you from the distance you are running.
Don't breathe through your mouth. Breathe through your nose with your stomach out your mouth! Do not breathe through chest it pulls your diaphragm out instead of down . For every 1 breath in you should exhale 2 breaths not 3 or 1. If you are breathing 3 out or 1 out you are going to fast. Take it slow run with your arms at your side. Swing your arms, think eye socket to hip pocket. Don't go by steps the faster your pace the more steps you take before exhaling or inhaling. Swinging your arms will increase your speed and pace. Hope this helps:)
the Nike run club app has motivated me SO much to get running again. It has personalised plans and adjusts because of how difficult you find each workout, definitely helped me out
I'm not a fit or active woman. I am not vegan nor vegetarian. I'm into make up and fashion but not the expensive stuff. However, I'm subscribed to Niomi and watch ALL her videos because I love how she's always so inspiring, passionate and so positive. Keep doing you, Niomi!
I needed this! I'm growing really unhappy with my body and need to change my eating, exercise and get a bit more fit and hopefully at a point where I feel good inside & out. Thank you for this ❤️
When I heard people talk about 'the running bug' I used to think it was a made up thing that people just used because they wanted to talk about going running.... but it actually exists!! I caught it earlier this year while training for Race for Life (video on my channel) and I haven't looked back since! My first half marathon is in 12 weeks, so I will be using this video for tips! Thanks so much x
Thanks Niomi for this video! I have signed up for a 10k Race for Life next month and your tips have helped! This will be my 3rd year doing it and its a great upbeat event! I also suggest pilates for strengthening your core and stretching which also helps a lot with running :)

I roll my ankles in, so they picked out shoes that turn that roll outwards, helping me to avoid injury. I had talipes as a baby, so they helped me with that, too. Hardly anybody runs straight or without creating excess impact that can potentially cause injury. It's free, so it is definitely worth doing to avoid injury and to motivate yourself.

Could you also make a video specifically about when and how you started training for the marathon? Your first marathon video seemed to be all about nutrition and attire, but not about when/how you started training and builing up strength/endurance.
Just what I needed, running my first half marathon for beat in march!! Always been a spin and weights sort of girl but need to switch up for this, just got to get my total warrior and tough mudder out the way first 😬 xx
Loved this, especially your last Tip, I had never thought about that. I like running and I am frustrated, that I don't ever seem to improve. I will definitely try to consider what you said and get better :) Love from Germany!! xx
Niomi, this really motivated me! I've been thinking of working out lately & this video helped me out. Thank you sooo much. Could you please make a video of any beginner's workout routine? Really appreciate it
Thanks for the tips, Niomi. I started running reguarly 2 months ago. Good point about strengthening-will bear that in mind. Could you do another video about how you trained for the London marathon and what challenges you faced up until race day? Thanks. Dee.
Definitely find a reason for running to keep motivated, like to get more fit etc. I have asthma which I'm wanting to improve, & hopefully overcome, so this definitely helps me get out on a morning! :)
Great video Niomi, thanks for the helpful tips! I've only just started running and absolutely love it! I've signed up for the Manchester 10k in a couple of weeks! Also after watching this I'm trying to convince my friends to do a pretty muddy with me, looks so much fun!
Thank you so much for this video, it was really helpful to me as I really want to get into running 😊 I also love that you put quality content everytime Love from France ❤
I've just entered a 10k, I have 10 weeks to train. I needed to do something "big" (well, for me) to motivate myself. These tips are perfect! I'm currently full of cold which is so annoying as I want to get out there and get started! x
Another tip is to see a physical therapist or personal trainer for a running gait analysis. Having someone look at how you run and move can help you run more efficiently and reduce injury risk especially if you're just starting out as a new runner.
It's so funny, my friends and I are really not sporty at all and we started yesterday walking/running and we want to do it twice a week from now on. And now you uploaded a video about running. Thanks a lot for these tips, hopefully I will see progress too. It would be so nice to be more motivated. Netflix marathon shouldn't be the only marathon I can do. 🙄 Lots of love 💘
This is really informative Niomi thank you, I just wished you talked more about how to actually run, I mean the proper position and leg angulations and that kind of stuff.
Awrad W search some tips up. Keep you posture upright, shoulders back, elbows in, and look at the horizon, not the ground or sky. Use long leg strides, and move your arms. The faster you pump your arms, the faster you are going to go.
Love this video! I've recently got into running, and it's something my boyfriend and I do together so that really helps keep me motivated! I use an app called Strava to record my runs, and would definitely recommend it to anyone, beginner or not!
The thing about having nice clothes for running is so true :-D I always feel like an olympic athlete with my new outfit! And I love you Niomi you are such an inspiration...
Literally needed this now, I've been contemplating running but always find an excuse not to do it. Think I'm ganna splurge on some new trainers to motivate me. Thanks for the tips :)
i think after watching this im going to try and start running. at the start of this year i promised myself that i would become fitter and healthier. it didnt go well but about a month ago i got a call. it was from my riding centre and they told me that if i gain any more weight id be too heavy to ride. i was devestated because horse riding has been my favourite thing for 8 years since i started. so i started getting serious about loosing weight. in the last month i have lost almost 1 stone. I started with swimming and then i joined basketball. then auqa aerobis and on thursday im joining a HIITS class. I already feel better about myself and i know if i keep pushing i can do it. its gonna be a long road but i want to get to my goal weight of 170. i have 75 pounds to go which is a lot but i know i can do it !!
Such a lovely video, with such a great cause - good job Niomi! I've been running for 3 years every day now - couldn't run for longer than 15 seconds without stopping 3 years ago, now can do 40 minutes+ at 12 km/hour non-stop! :) My tip would be to start gently and not push yoourself, stopping whenever needed and running slowly tot he best of your ability. Keep doing it and you will naturally get faster and run longer! Yulia X
This has actually inspired me to start running. I have thought about starting every few months or so, maybe this month will be the one I actually start! 😊 I'm only on this video cause I saw an advert with someone who looked a little like Niomi, and I thought, "hm, I wonder what Niomi's up to these days", and clicked on her most recent video. 😛😀
Thankyou so much Niomi! I really needed this - signed up for my first 10k in a few months and REALLY need tips because I've only every ran a 5k before 😱
There was a point last year where I realized that I needed to start exercising and running was the most convenient way seeing as my house is near a large park with a ton of jogging paths. One day I just decided to throw on my workout gear and go for it. As I was heading out the door, I realized that I hadn't actually made my body run in like 4 years. I wear heels everyday and I honestly couldn't think of a time when I moved faster than a quick walk lol. I had a mini panic attack because I was convinced that I forgot how to run. I was so intimidated and got up at 3am the next morning to make sure I could still run without anyone watching me hahaha.
Hey Niomi! I love watching your videos, I find you so much more down to earth than most vloggers. I was just wondering, have you ever looked into barefoot running?
My feed is full of "summer hauls". This topic is so refreshing! 🤗
Justine Leconte officiel are you from the US?
i never in my life thought i would be somebody who wakes up at 7am and goes out for an 8k run but from the beginning of this year i've done it! and i absolutely LOVE that i can do it! it makes me feel incredible in myself
Megan congratulations 🎉
Mafia Honey gosh thank you so much I didn't expect lovely replies!
Kate Florence thank you!!

Megan Pleaaase tell me how I can do that? I'm so lazy and I hate it. keep goiing

I started running a few weeks ago and did 5k without slowing down for the first time last night💕 Thanks for this vid!x

These tips will be great for me and my friend who wants to start running in the beginning of summer 😄
Because i've lost 29kg and are continuting to loose weight, i'm starting to try new forms of working out that before was very hard for me 😊
Eva Marie congratulations for the commitment on your weight loss and good luck on the running challenge
Maeva Attrait Thank you! I'm sure it will be hard in the beginning. But everything gets easier with time 😊

Niomi's videos are helping to get my training for the London Marathon underway for next year.
I've literally needed to go out for a run for weeks, I'm so glad you uploaded this video now!! xx
UK especially but some other countries have them now too - parkrun! most towns have one every Saturday at 9am, walk, jog, run, mix of each it'd whatever you can do and the community and support is amazing.
I started running in January, and have been really enjoying it! Loved this video Niomi! Xx
I love how positive you are. You inspire me to set my own goals! 💕💕
Thanks for this video!! Helps me a lot!! I don't ever plan on running a marathon but I'm a month I'm doing a 5 mile race that I'm not ready for!! This video was totally what I needed!! Thank You!!
You're videos are so so inspiring and motivating, Niomi. Absolutely LOVE THEM and YOU xxxx
I'm so glad u made this! I've been running for 10 years and it has totally helped me get my mind off hard times and I went from being obese to supper skinny!
I'm doing the 5k for race for life this weekend, I've been so nervous about it but this video was perfect timing. Thanks Niomi. X
Can you discuss breathing techniques in regards to running?
Angelslove02 one simple way is to inhale through your mouth for 3 steps, then exhaling through you mouth for 2 steps. It helps moderate your breathing so you don't get running cramps, and it distracts you from the distance you are running.
Don't breathe through your mouth. Breathe through your nose with your stomach out your mouth! Do not breathe through chest it pulls your diaphragm out instead of down . Hope this helps:)
Perfect timing! After a long pause of running, I just started again this week and with your tips I'll hopefully succeed ! :)
the Nike run club app has motivated me SO much to get running again. It has personalised plans and adjusts because of how difficult you find each workout, definitely helped me out
I used to run nearly every day and have stopped for quite a while now, but this video has definitely re motivated me :)
I'm not a fit or active woman. I am not vegan nor vegetarian. I'm into make up and fashion but not the expensive stuff. However, I'm subscribed to Niomi and watch ALL her videos because I love how she's always so inspiring, passionate and so positive. Keep doing you, Niomi!
as a beginner in running i really needed this video love u niomi from Morocco
I needed this! I'm growing really unhappy with my body and need to change my eating, exercise and get a bit more fit and hopefully at a point where I feel good inside & out. Thank you for this ❤️
When I heard people talk about 'the running bug' I used to think it was a made up thing that people just used because they wanted to talk about going running.... but it actually exists!! I caught it earlier this year while training for Race for Life (video on my channel) and I haven't looked back since! My first half marathon is in 12 weeks, so I will be using this video for tips! Thanks so much x
This was so helpful as I've wanted to start running for a while but just didn't know how to get into it! Thanks so much Niomi ❤️
Thanks for the tips. I've started running and these tips will definitely help me out!
Thanks Niomi for this video! I have signed up for a 10k Race for Life next month and your tips have helped! This will be my 3rd year doing it and its a great upbeat event! I also suggest pilates for strengthening your core and stretching which also helps a lot with running :)
this video is exactly what i needed right now! ive been wanting to get into running for a while now
Great video Niomi, start running again after exams cannot wait 🙌🏼
It's also very rewarding to go and discover a new neighborhood that you haven't seen before and just choose whatever direction you want each crossing. Take your phone with you so you can walk back without getting lost and be proud of yourself.
you are so motivational!! I love running and I am plant-based too, yet I am sometimes not able to motivate myself, so your tips will hopefully help! :)
You can go to specialist running shops where they analyse how you run and find shoes that help you to run.
Hi Naomi!!! You are such an athletic inspiration!! GOALS!
I absolutely love your fitness and health videos x
love this ☺ handy tips, especially as I am currently training to do race for Life for my 6th time this year . such a fun event and for such a good cause
Love the advice. Motivation is always the most challenging for me
Could you also make a video specifically about when and how you started training for the marathon?

Im doing the race for like on the 4th of June and i cant wait! Im 15 and I've raised almost £100 by myself x
Great video Niomi, thanks for the helpful tips! I've only just started running and absolutely love it! I've signed up for the Manchester 10k in a couple of weeks! Also after watching this I'm trying to convince my friends to do a pretty muddy with me, looks so much fun!

YES this is perfect, I've just started getting into running! (well, jogging tbh but I'll get there)
I so need this ! Started back at the gym last night after 2 weeks off and found it really hard feel like I have lost all the progress I made 😕
I've just entered a 10k, I have 10 weeks to train. I needed to do something "big" (well, for me) to motivate myself. These tips are perfect! I'm currently full of cold which is so annoying as I want to get out there and get started! x

Great video Niomi! 😊 Could you please do a workout video for runners?
This is really informative Niomi thank you, I just wished you talked more about how to actually run, I mean the proper position and leg angulations and that kind of stuff.
Awrad W search some tips up. Keep you posture upright, shoulders back, elbows in, and look at the horizon, not the ground or sky. Use long leg strides, and move your arms. The faster you pump your arms, the faster you are going to go.
Niomi back at it again with the very motivating videos! ❤️
Love from Belgium!

I do a 5k run a few times every week . and I'm trying to get faster . this video has made me realise I need to build up more muscle in my legs. thx!
This helped so much Nim, thank you soo much!
Brilliant vid. Feel motivated already.
I would love to go out for a run but I'm really paranoid about going outside alone. Guess I'll just stay inside on my treadmill instead.
Look for local running groups. :)

Can't wait to watch this as usual!! ❤️
Would you be able to do a video on how to start training for a marathon? like a plan of some sort too x
This looks so helpful, going for runs always seems intimidating! 💕
Great tips! I've been trying running more and it's definitely a great work out
Hey Niomi! I love watching your videos, I find you so much more down to earth than most vloggers. I was just wondering, have you ever looked into barefoot running?
