4:01 How the space marine comes out of the shadows is epic. PS. At the very end, you can see flashes on the pillars after the teleportation. That's the other squad members appearing.
The fact the details of what's happening are kept deliberately vague is the best thing about this short movie - even works for hardcore 40k fans. Absolutely the right decision. We know this is about Astartes boarding a ship of heretics, and trying to capture a sphere that clearly acts as a gateway to the warp... but that's about it. Leaves so much open to interpretation and doesn't bog the story down by getting into too much detail. I love the fact he set in in M39... nice and far enough away from the timeline we're used to to allow him to do pretty much what he wanted in terms of visualising the warp and the psykers. This is the best 40k short because it shows how vast the lore and universe of 40k can be.
You are on the edge of a hole right now, the lore is DEEP in this franchise, with 50+ books, god knows how much plastic is used for the tabletop games, the video games, the amount of fan animation (everything from Helsreach to the shorts people make,) the lore videos. It is deep and rich, you are just scratching the surface with this. It's thoroughly enjoyable.
50+ books? There are well over 100 novels in just the Horus Heresy, and that all takes place 10,000 years prior to the current age of the game. Then you have 10 editions worth of books for the actual game, packed with details and lore. But what do you think? Do we have another convert for The God Emperor, beloved by all?
@@HistoritorJimaldus 500? I thought the number is much lower. But still 60 books of Horus Heresy plus 8 Siege of Terra, cca 20 Gaunts Ghosts, several Ravenor, Eisenhorn, at least one books about each of the Primarchs...crap.... and i dont even know where the Siege of Vraks is described, rule book or some novel series....uh oh.... my bookshelves wont be enough...
First Arknights now 40K. This is great. Anyways it hurts me that nothing games workshop has made animation wise is as good as this, like why was the angels of death series the closest thing we got
Has anyone suggested Helsreach yet? No? Well, it's a Warhammer fan animation of an audiobook. 13 parts. Got the animator hired and a crack at his own series. The author of the book likes it so there is that.
It makes me happy a lot content creators are starting to dip into the Warhammer 40K universe. Yes it’s a lot, but after you get your feet wet, it’s the most amazing universe. Cheers
Ahh I'm always so happy when more people are getting into Warhammer 40K! I got into it last year and the lore is quite dark and wild, but also oh boy is it interesting. Would be excited to see you dive into more of this stuff, there's plenty of stuff in there! As many have probably already said, I can recommend Bricky's videos on the factions and the space marine legions (the big soldier guys!). Good amount of information and humor as well!
I wanted to sneer with: the appearance, voice, facial expressions and charisma of this young lady. but, after her reaction to the details + deep analysis - I changed my mind. this chupacabra is an unsurpassed analyst.
15:20 There are no good guys. Im sure I'm not the first to say this in the comments, if I'm wrong, well here goes. The game is set 40k in the future. Humans are spreading like wild fire beyond our galaxy lead by a being, so powerful, he is treated as a god. We meet other creatures, they have interesting stories . We fight all of them. It's massive and much more complex. Ge dates to the 80s and has 300 plus publications. It's grim. Its dark. Beautiful.
another great video you can watch, both from an animation perspective, and story perspective, would be Helsreach, it's basically an entire audiobook animated, 100% would recommend, also made by 1 person if I am not mistaken!
Everything about this series is amazing but the sound design is INSANE. The creator nailed the sound of the Bolters, the feel of the weight when the marines run or even walk, and I love how you never hear anyone talk; the Marines are communicating through their helmets the whole time.
Fun fact: The balls are called Yu'vath, they are creatures who were mentioned once or twice in one of the codexes from decades ago. Quick transcript of what they say: Orb 1: Brother, I have failed. Orb 2: We have all failed. The Astartes deny our touch. You must return. Break your seal. Orb 1: I cannot. We will never survive. Orb 2: You must. Take them. I love how Syama not only created this stunning piece of art, but also went with one of the many available deep lore cuts from GW as the threat as opposed to something more traditional like Chaos or Orks.
Now that you've entered the rabbit hole, you're gunna get non stop requests to react to bricky's 'Warhammer 40k every faction in a nutshell' videos. They're pretty long but definitely worth the watch!
Congratulations! You have now become a Warhammer 40k reaction channel lol I look forward to your chipper and honest reactions over just how overpowered this universe is. Enjoy.
I don't know why but, for as phenomenal as the whole thing is. The very end of part five where we see a different chapter marine taking fire from off screen eldar before the tank just rolls up and fires twice, really sticks with me the most out of the whole thing. I think it's the freedom of imagination to just imagine what kind of forces are beyond the view of the camera lens.
11:40 if your wondering why they turned that guy into tomato sauce or about the 1 armed dudes before, there is a type of human called psykers in 40k (space wizards) that can draw power form the warp (complicated but basically hell) to do magic stuff. The problem is when they lose control, bad stuff can happen. Anywhere from randomly shooting powers off, to blowing themselves up, to in the worst case getting possessed or turning into a portal form which daemons can come through. So when they start acting weird It's wise to kill them and keep killing them until you're sure their dead. Also, the other psykers they were fighting where on the weak side just to show you how scary they are. A lot of telekines can crush a person in power armor like an empty soda can.
Yeah the fact that the Astartes on the ship hesitated so long to waste him meant they really liked him. Most people would've immediately wasted him when he started twitching
Oh boy, this is a whole other rabbit hole you're dipping your toes into! 40k is an amazing setting and it's something that always has more to learn even when you're neck deep into it. Would be fun to see you delve further in. But alongside that is also the Fantasy IPs, which are the original Warhammer setting. I really recommend you checking out the Total War Warhammer trailers since it is a fun mix of cinematic and in-engine animated trailers. And there is a LOT of fun stuff going on there animation wise. Would be more than happy to proviee playists if you ever find yourself in the mood for it. Anywho looking forward to your next video whatever it might be!
5:40 "Transhuman Dread" is a thing in 40k. In some people, they see a Space Marine (or Custodian) and they think "It looks human but it's far too big and moving far too quickly and agilely," and they're overcome by a primal fear so they panic, either freezing up or just turning and running. Like in old fashioned cavalry charges - but instead of a heavily armoured dude on a heavily armoured warhorse, it's a heavily armoured dude the same height of the dude and the horse and probably weighing twice as much. People can be trained for it though.
I never get bored of watching people see these shorts for the first time. The cultists/ball/gold statue are an invention of the creator, no other lore connection (but plenty of parallels). The thing that gets me is the opposition did everything **right**. They tried to stop them in the bay, they set up a barricade, they tried to ambush them with an anti-materiel gun, a guy did a mad attempt to use an anti-tank mine before getting stabbed for it, and finally they brought in a heavy gun to try and stop them. None of it mattered, the space marines battered their way through anyway.
That video was made by one guy alone !! I had no idea about Warhammer 40k till last year... I started with this video and then watched Bricky's videos about every Warhammer 40k faction.. TH-camr Luetin goes deep into detail with the lore.
Oh yea, now this will be good content. Ive been a fan of warhammer for 20+ years. Good luck and enjoy the ride. I highly recommend watching a video called: "TIMELINE of the 40K UNIVERSE by Trazyn the Infinite" Uploaded by a channel called Warrior Tier. Its a good baseline to start before you get into the real hard details. Warhammer is thousands of books and stories over decades of lore.
Everything about Astartes is amazing little fun fact i don't think anybody mentioned: at 13:18 the three metal studs in his forehead means he has been a space marine for over 3 centuries
What is most impressive is that it is 1 person who made this I simply love it only small change I make is texting the space Marines armour is to clean and shiny it need dirt and paint texture
11:41 Possessed Ally Countermeasure Number One. It's an old favourite, seems to work pretty well. If you like these, you'll probably like a couple of vids from Battletech - similar tabletop wargame, but a less ludicrous storyverse (and a LOT less expensive to play!) called "Frihet - A MechWarrior Film" by D.C. Bruins, and "MechWarrior: Bulldogs", also by Bruins and on a channel called Renegade HPG. Their storytelling's a lot like this, very much down to inference and figuring out what's up from what you can see.
im just starting with 40k lore but as far as i know 11:40 this was a mercy kill for the psyker. poor guy warned them and paid with his life. became instantly corrupted
When psykers get possessed, BAD things happen, and they could open a portal to the warp, and things would come through that would smear every space marine on that ship to chunky salsa, if they're lucky. Think the movie Event Horizon, that's a pretty good basis for what could happen. So now you know, if the guy who's sitting there doing warp fuckery has one single slipup, you understand why people are jumpy around them. The fact that the Officers hesitated so long meant they really liked him.
@@ramonpizarro they hesitated? Jesus Christ if this is them hesitating I don't want to know how they are when they mad af Still getting into it all... all I k own until now is that the warp has some bad stuff in it like...really bad stuff

I figured I would comment about the moment at 4:20, I saw it in another video and please correct me if I’m wrong someone: That was someone akin to a suicide bomber as that ball he was carrying was an ied/grenade/bomb/whatever to try and take them out.
That ball was an supernatural entity that was captured by humans and was communicating with another entity that was being assaulted by big ones. what it said was to break it's shield and die in process but take tin cans with it. So it took them and was torn to shreds in process and teleported them randomly throught the planet surface. the one that was connected was human psyker that can do some shit like read others minds or just explode their eads with their will. He got caught on listening and was possesed by it. So he got eliminated quite fast without hestiation.
I recommend finding the Warhammer Helsreach movie here on TH-cam. Whereas this is easily the best-animated piece of Warhammer, imo. Helsreach is a work of art. It is also a fan-made film based on a novel. A piece of advice a friend gave me going in was, "The picture becomes clearer as Grimaldus becomes more grounded." The creator of the Helsreach movie, Richard Boylan, has been employed by Games Workshop and worked on (maybe created) the Angles of Death series on Warhammer+. And Syama Pedersen has been hired on as well but for what I don't know yet.
Warhammer has something for everyone don't worry about looking for the good guys cause there aren't any. It's a universe where everyone is a villain but that's it's charm cause bad guys are awesome and They're in any and all flavours you can think of super soldiers who are essentially demi gods, the unyielding tide of orc's, the army's of the chaos gods, Nekrons an advanced Egyptian-esk ancient race of terminator style beings, race of space elves called the Eldar, Tau considered to be the better of all the evils till you read between the lines, the Tyranids a swarm of bugs and beasts of unknown size who invade entire systems converting everything and anything living into biomass and many many more factions and sub factions with their own stories and interesting designs
Astartes/Space Marines are 7 and half feet tall genetically enhanced super soldiers power armor that enhances their already enhanced strength and speed. The Adeptus Astartes where created by the Emperor of mankind and are made to be the defenders of humanity, killing the Alien/Xeno, the Mutant, the witch, and the Heretic/Traitor.
There is no good and no evil in the Warhammer universe, there is only death. Astartes combines so much about Space Marines, even the little details, like the fact they can run, 9 foot dudes the size of a wardrobe running towards you is scary, but he also showed a small detail most completely ignore, when the Psyker stops the bullets, you can see that they are not just huge, but also, rocket propelled. Fun Fact: After the success of Astartes Games Workshop hired the creator, they also made the chapter that he practically made up an official chapter, The Retributors, a sub Chapter of the Imperial Fists.
Oh wow, I've been a W40K fan for 30+ years. I am an anime fan just as long, and love gacha games like Arknights/Genshin/Honkai etc... So seeing this channel react to W40K content is the crossover I didn't know I needed. W40K lore is VAST and DEEP. But don't be scared to jump in. It has incredibly passionate fans, and the universe it's set in is brutal. I'd love to see more, like Bricky's videos of "Every W40K faction explained" videos, and the Templin Institute's "Imperium of Man" video.

Georgie hearing about Arknights: Oh, that's neat. Few months later, she's a new Doctor playing along~ If she sprouts an Aquilla and starts talking about Heresy here soon, we'll know why. :D
I think others may have already said this but I think we were seeing two timelines. The first with the ball being captured (or at least an attempt) and the second with it kinda reactivating and taking over the guy who was communing with it who then gets fucked up by the chapter master. Separately, I believe the area where the space marine goes at the end may be the Emperor's realm within the warp but that's more speculation. At a minimum the corpses in the chairs are meant to represent him
I always love watching people's reactions to the psyker getting possessed and being dealt with by the Chapter master and his aid. Always hilarious.
most people are like "slow down that was overkill!" and every 40k fan like "thats all? man i hope he doesnt get back up .-."

Yeah I just hear the same thing. I'm not saying that you are wrong. It's just what I perceive.
4:01 How the space marine comes out of the shadows is epic.
PS. At the very end, you can see flashes on the pillars after the teleportation. That's the other squad members appearing.
Imagine major studios pointing fingers at their art department. "Do you see that? He did all this in a cave with a box of scraps!!"
The Tony stark of cinematics
Oh girl you are up for an EXPERIENCE
I truly went through it in this reaction ahahha
@@georgieegames The sheer amount of lore on this university is crazy, there's something for everyone
@@giuseppe9653Indeed. I have probably watched dozens of hours of lore videos and I still find new stuff I have never heard of.
Can you imagine being responsible for possibly the greatest short story solo project? Absolutely insane how well this was done.
It's thoroughly enjoyable.
technically you are correct but 50+ books is just the prequel, HH. The real number is... a lot higher xD
50+ books? There are well over 100 novels in just the Horus Heresy, and that all takes place 10,000 years prior to the current age of the game. Then you have 10 editions worth of books for the actual game, packed with details and lore.
But what do you think? Do we have another convert for The God Emperor, beloved by all?
Over 500 books in all now, and that’s just black library, not counting rule books etc
@@HistoritorJimaldus 500? I thought the number is much lower. But still 60 books of Horus Heresy plus 8 Siege of Terra, cca 20 Gaunts Ghosts, several Ravenor, Eisenhorn, at least one books about each of the Primarchs...crap.... and i dont even know where the Siege of Vraks is described, rule book or some novel series....uh oh.... my bookshelves wont be enough...
after watching this literally dozens of time I am unironically still noticing small details. Its ACTUAL art.
15:15 georgieegames: "I think the good guys are-"
Warhammer 40k: "Let me stop you right there..."
First Arknights now 40K. This is great.
Anyways it hurts me that nothing games workshop has made animation wise is as good as this, like why was the angels of death series the closest thing we got
I like to keep the variety UP and oh man this was so worth it
Just in time for Snake body Fulgrim for 30k too
Iron Within and The Exodite are almost on par with this. Pariah Nexus will be just as good
Pariah Nexus is looking very good.
There's lots of quality stuff on warhammer tv. The whole gw is an evil conglomerate and everything they make sucks bs is so old.
This is literally my favorite piece of animated content in any shape or form. It is *so* good, I cannot express.
Cheers
Love seeing people get introduced to 40k. For those of us that have been into it, this is just a Tuesday for a Space Marine
And to think, every minute of footage here took about a year for him to make. That's dedication to your craft if ever i saw some.
"That's a very bad ball"
Possibly the best line I've seen in reaction to that.
I wanted to sneer with: the appearance, voice, facial expressions and charisma of this young lady. but, after her reaction to the details + deep analysis - I changed my mind. this chupacabra is an unsurpassed analyst.
I first played Warhammer 40K in 1987 and it's been with me ever since XD
The first taste of Warhammer 40k has been had. Now all that is needed is the 2 Lore Explanation videos from Bricky, then she'll be hooked for life
15:20 There are no good guys.
Quick transcript of what they say:
Orb 1: Brother, I have failed.
You have now become a Warhammer 40k reaction channel lol
I look forward to your chipper and honest reactions over just how overpowered this universe is.
I came for the Limbus content and now there is Warhammer content? That is a win for the God-Emperor if I ever see one.
I do hope you'll get into it.
For the ones who don't know 40k lore, the place with the big statues at the end is at the bottom of the marina's trench on Terra post unification wars
No it's not.
Great reaction, hope your friends had fun sharing 40k lore with you.
3:02 "That is brutal!" Space Marines are the definition of controlled and disciplined brutality.
Welcome aboard, battle sister!
Warhammer is so cool! Literally just got my first sets yesterday!
Good thing to keep in mind watching this, the space marines are communicating with each other through their helmets radios while all this is going on.
That video was made by one guy alone !!
I had no idea about Warhammer 40k till last year...
I started with this video and then watched Bricky's videos about every Warhammer 40k faction..
TH-camr Luetin goes deep into detail with the lore.
There's one with David Atteborough's voice (AI) as well.
Oh yea, now this will be good content. Ive been a fan of warhammer for 20+ years. Good luck and enjoy the ride. I highly recommend watching a video called:
"TIMELINE of the 40K UNIVERSE by Trazyn the Infinite" Uploaded by a channel called Warrior Tier. Its a good baseline to start before you get into the real hard details. Warhammer is thousands of books and stories over decades of lore.
Also there is "Every Single Warhammer 40k Faction" by the guy called Bricky, more light-hearted and with jokes but still a good intro to the series.
I got three words for you…
FOR THE EMPEROR!!!
Everything about Astartes is amazing
little fun fact i don't think anybody mentioned: at 13:18 the three metal studs in his forehead means he has been a space marine for over 3 centuries
What is most impressive is that it is 1 person who made this I simply love it only small change I make is texting the space Marines armour is to clean and shiny it need dirt and paint texture
WE GOT HER BOYS
4:25 - Subscribed. Appreciation for the shanking of the would-be sapper with his shaped charge makes me quite happy!
At the end where the camera pans out you can see other pillars that his his squad mates start appearing (look for the little flash)
Arch Warhammer is the best lore channel on 40k simply for the amount of content of supreme quality he produces
its crazy how Syama invested years of his time into this project, that alone takes a lot of balls but obviously he knows hes damn good at what he does
seeing non-40k fans reacting never gets old. Another one now addicted to the Grimdark. Welcome sister
im just starting with 40k lore but as far as i know 11:40 this was a mercy kill for the psyker. poor guy warned them and paid with his life. became instantly corrupted
Jesus Christ if this is them hesitating I don't want to know how they are when they mad af
Still getting into it all... all I k own until now is that the warp has some bad stuff in it like...really bad stuff
btw the creator got hired by games workshop ( warhammer ip owning company) he is working on astartes 2, now with a real budget. im soooo looking forward to it
"Thats a very bad Ball" made my Day XD
Never tire of watching people react to this and just losing their minds.
I figured I would comment about the moment at 4:20, I saw it in another video and please correct me if I’m wrong someone:
That was someone akin to a suicide bomber as that ball he was carrying was an ied/grenade/bomb/whatever to try and take them out.
An to think only one person did this whole video. It's fun watching theses kinds of reaction videos from people seeing this for the first time
That's one way of getting your homebrew space marine chapter made part of canon: create a seminal piece of 40k media.
This is just another Tuesday in the Warhammer 40k universe 😂. Seriously though, that was really great animation for just one guy.
I'm glad to see SOMEONE notice just how big the marines are relative to the dudes in the corridor.
Warhammer 40K has obtained another one.
The ship in beginning is way too clean.
And so it begins. The 40k rabbit hole has opened.
If you had watched this whilst invested in 40K AND being this much into the animation you had just melted x3
"What is thaaaaat??"
That right there is the problem.
Curiosity only leads to heresy.
11:43 they did actually help the poor bastard there... plus you REALLY, REALLY, REALLY not want a warp portal opening up in your ship
What are those blue alien things that had those psychic abilities, they're pretty cool
I recommend finding the Warhammer Helsreach movie here on TH-cam.
Whereas this is easily the best-animated piece of Warhammer, imo. Helsreach is a work of art. It is also a fan-made film based on a novel.
A piece of advice a friend gave me going in was, "The picture becomes clearer as Grimaldus becomes more grounded."
The creator of the Helsreach movie, Richard Boylan, has been employed by Games Workshop and worked on (maybe created) the Angles of Death series on Warhammer+. And Syama Pedersen has been hired on as well but for what I don't know yet.
my favorite part in this is when jedi master gandolf told frodo
"rip and tear for the emperor of man!"
"oh my god, they are so big"
lovely madam, wait til you see Custodes. they make astartes look like normal humans
Or Primarchs.
Welcome...to the rabbit hole. Wonder how far you'll fall into 40k. It's a wild ride.
11:56 I dont think we still know what this entity is but it appears extremely alien.
I'd recommend Baldermort & Warrior Tier as two channels that really bring the lore to life.
Amber King!
the detail on this video even I have a hard time believing that it was made by one person, must have took a long time with such details 👍
And so it begins
The journey into the deepest rabbit hole possible
11:38 - This is possession in W40K
11:41 - That is the correct exorcism in W40K
I always have the same reaction. It was a rel pain in the ass for the amount of OG years this took. (He really won in the end, got a jpb with GW, yay!)
The orb said "No escape. I have failed. We have all failed. The Astartes defy our touch. You must return! Break your seal! We'll never survive. You must take them!" And then the Inquisitor says "Recall them immediately!" then the Inquisitor gets possessed.
This Astartes videos really shows what supersolier shall be like
May i recommend the 40k Space Marine Armouring Ritual Cinematic Trailer for you to react as well?
another great fan made 40K animation is The Death of Hope + it's 2 trailers. you won't have a clue what's going on but the animation is stunning
Oh ya, my favorite. It’s a damn shame this guy was insulted and disrespected by a lot of the 40k community. It was so bad he quit this project
Georgie hearing about Arknights: Oh, that's neat.
Few months later, she's a new Doctor playing along~
If she sprouts an Aquilla and starts talking about Heresy here soon, we'll know why.
At a minimum the corpses in the chairs are meant to represent him
Yes!!! Another new reaction!
