It's not an Inquisitor. At best it is an Inquisitiorial Psyker. One who works IN the Inquisition, but isn't an Inquisitor him/herself. No way would an Inquisitor be dressed like that with the whole helmet and such

You don't fuck around with daemonic possession in 40K. Shoot first, and try to figure out what happened later. If you hesitate long enough to ask questions, a daemon manifests, steals the souls of everyone on the ship and now you're stuck getting murder-fucked in hell for all eternity by some Slaanesh daemonette with crab claws for hands.
You do NOT hesitate when it comes to possession especially if it's a psyker. In fact they didn't show it but I'm sure they even put flamers to that corpse. Can never be too sure.

more like hundreds of thousands, noone knows for sure because even if they have a record of all the chapters, some of the chapters keep a secret exactly how many marines they have, but on paper there should be tops a 1000 marines for each. However, its still just a drop in the ocean compared to the amount of worlds they have to protect.
The BT alone are speculated to have 6000 Marines and for Astartes as a whole 1,000,000 strong give or take 5,000 extra for Non Codex compliant chapters.

thats a psyker who was basically listening in on the converstation between the 2 entities. When he spoke to the captain or yelled to him to get those men out of there he lost his train of thought and wsa taken over. Psykers have 2 guards with them or Astartes for when they are overcome similar to this cause they can rip the very fabric of space and let out the horrors of chaos. So they put them down without hesitation.
Well that makes sense! No wonder they acted so quickly. Wow, what interesting lore 40k has !

Also, getting possessed by entities of the Warp turns you into a "Door" for even more Warp Entities to step through to the material world from. You will quickly come to understand that in the universe of Warhammer 40k, if you were possessed against your will like this Inquisitor was, you WANT to be put down this quickly, because the alternative is literally becoming a plaything for the denizens of literal Hell for basically all of eternity.
Good thing to keep in mind is that EVERY Psyker draws power from what is essentially hell.

Astartes - Adeptus Astartes (Space Marines) genetically engineered super soldiers. That squad can turn the tide of a war on a single planet.
The guy kneeling with with "I" on his back is an Inquisitor and he gets possessed by the ball, if they hadn't killed him he would have killed everyone on the ship.
Orb 1: "Brother, I have failed."

Orb 1: "The Astartes deny our touch."
Orb 2: "You must return, break your seal"

the universe is more about order vs chaos then good or evil. in order to maintain order, bad things are done, because not doing those things is worse.
the Orbs are most likely Yu'Vath an obscure chaos race that exists half way between reality & the warp seen only in older editions of Warhammer 40k they psychicly dominate weak minded beings who then construct a shell that they can inhabit while in our reality otherwise they must remain in the orb as like all warp entities being in real space hurts them your welcome 😊

The orbs are Ctan shards, at least that's the most popular and believable theory.

just an fyi, a space marine is 8 feet tall, weighing at 2 tons with full armor and weaponry
and they can accelerate up to 40 miles per hour when going full sprint

@@BROTHA_BLACK the creature that took the kill team got obliterated by the warp once it broke out of the orb seal, but it did transport the team to some unknown place
if you look closely near the end, there are 4 flashes on other pillars in the distant, signifying the other 4 of the team
so even when they're stranded, at least they will still have each other until the end
also a little fun fact: the silver and gold dots on the space marine's head stands for his time serving as an Astartes.
1 silver = 50 years, 1 gold = 100 years
so he's been serving for at least 200 years already (a space marine's life expectancy is about a thousand)
@@Codex_0613 my understanding is that the long-service studs represent different lengths for different chapters, silver can be down to a decade, and gold can be up to half a millennia. That is if I remember correctly.

Imagine that a standard Space Marine wearing a suit of standard Mk VII Aquila pattern power armour is akin to a superhuman wearing a tank, and then understand that there are EVEN BIGGER suits of armor that they can wear called Terminator Armour (reserved for the 1st Company veterans), and then see that there are new PRIMARIS Marines that make the Firstborn look like normal humans, and above them are the Adeptus Custodes who guard the Emperor's Throne that can stand completely still at guard for a century and be 100% prepared for combat.
And that's not even getting into the actual Primarchs, the sons of the Emperor himself. In Warhammer, everything is overpowered, which makes nothing overpowered :P
Great video, The mythology of warhammer 40k is legendary, you can literally get lost in it. Some people just collect the miniatures and paint them, some play the games, some just collect the books and lore, they have a division of games workshop called the black library where you can collect, read books, graphic novels etc, if you want to dip your toes into it without the commitment of gaming, collecting, painting models etc. The Astartes are basically the elite troops of the imperium of man, there genetically engineered and cybernetically enhanced super soldiers that stand on average 8 foot tall, have two hearts, their blood is literally designed at the genetic level to clot if they are shot or wounded. They are specifically designed to be the perfect soldiers.

Pal, you've just skimmed the very surface of a 30+ years long franchise that started as a miniatures tabletop game, went into novels, videogames, card games and various other stuff.

Some of the tropes absorbed by the evolution of 40k are over a century old. It takes everything and weaves it into something... beautiful, and f#cking diabolical.
I was there in 1990 or so. I remember you could still get Rogue Trader, but GW wanted you to go to Space Marine. Back when John Blanche was still doing artwork, I got an email from him over something. And Gavin Thorpe hadn't been hired yet!😀

A lot of lore, time span of 10,000 years +. A million systems, a million million planets. Billions of people, thousands of races, armies, ships, gods.
One of the best reactions I've seen! You get it so well man, the brutality of this lore is one best elements of it and just the ultimate hardcore nature of the Astartes

Brickys Every Single Warhammer 40k Faction Explained is a great start IMO. Feels more like it's one of your friends explaining it to you and he touches on a good portion of stuff. You can break the factions down into a few per video as well. This should help engage the community and allow for more direct conversation. ;)

Two orbs. One already captured and is back on the Astartes ship. They are attempting to capture the other one and during that process it communicates with the one that is already captured.

Not that far off regarding humanity TBH...40k's lore starts around the time life evolves in the Milky Way Galaxy and the arrival of the Old Ones, who later get into a conflict with the C'tan and Necrontyr called "The War in Heaven" that happened roughly ~65+ million years before 40k's current era. Eldar, Orks, and Necrons were a space-faring races that waged wars lasting hundreds (sometimes thousands) of years all before humans had even evolved on Earth.

Those two Astartes were actualy pretty relaxed before, the standard procedure is usually "keep pointing the bolter at the psyker until he's done with his weird psyker things, actually maybe a little longer" 😂
Also, the suits are soundproof, which is why you never hear them talk. They use internal coms inside the suits. So, when the priest is yelling through the sound proof helmet and you hear him, imagine just how loud he's screaming inside.

regarding warhammer lore and understanding it - you can try to start with a video called "warhammer lore in under a minute" narrated by the legendary Total Biscuit (r.i.p.) but I also see that the people in the comment section here got you going in all the right directions so far :D

I remember when part 1 came out, when there was a huge gap between 4 and 5 because Astartes's account got hacked I was devastated. I love 40k and am so happy whenever I see people get into it, best recommendation for getting into the lore would be Bricky's video on the factions of 40k. He really does an absolutely amazing job at boiling them all down. After watching those two vids if you're still interested I highly recommend the 40kLore subreddit, after watching the videos you should know the key players enough to be able to start reading the excerpts posted on the sub. My personal favorite is the story of Rylanor and Vistario on Istvaan III. Shit gets me every time.
ALSO - Came back after finishing, You were on point with a lot of your assumptions haha. Those two psykers the Astartes killed on the ship were indeed some unknown kind of Xeno, within the room with the large construct you can see hundreds of those same heads and spins, insinuating that they could've made many more of them. I imagine their plan was to finish creating the large construct in order to fill it with some warp (basically hell) entity who would be incredibly powerful. Onto addressing some of your part 5 questions, that hooded and kneeling man was an imperial psyker (just the 40k word for Psychic, which is people who draw on the power of the warp) I believe, his responsibility was watching the orb entity the Imperium had captured already while the Astartes went to capture the other. Their dialogue is very hard to hear but from what I remember the one on the imperium ship says something like "The astartes deny our touch", then the one on the chaos ship replies something along the lines of "We have all failed" to which the other replies "You must take them" (referring to the astartes trying to capture it and ordering it to take them into the warp). The psyker on the imperium ship is eavesdropping on this conversation and when he realizes the Astartes are in danger he frantically tries to warn the captain beside him about it and in the process he dropped his guard for an instant, he realizes it and panics, trying to get back to focusing but its too late. That's when you hear the orb beside him say "At last." the orb attempts to possess the psyker (if I remember right the creator did a Q & A where he said the the psyker's chanting in the helmet is him talking to the captain about The Emperor's Peace... which means killing him, he would rather die than be corrupted by chaos and turned on the Imperium. A possessed psyker is INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS which is why the two space marines reacted so fast and so brutally) Later you see the space marines floating in some dark area, that's the warp, and the creature which had One-Eye in it's tentacles also had the other 4 space marines, when you see some kind of force slam into it, causing it to lose it's grip on the space marines which yanks them out of the warp and onto an unknown planet. As to who or what saved the marines I've heard two theories, one is that it was the soul of the imperial psyker, fulfilling one last act with his remaining willpower before death. The other likens back to the saying "When the rabbit screams the fox comes running, but it's not to help." The warp is basically hell, it's filled with demons, nameless horrors, abominations, all manner of vile and disgusting evil, and they are constantly fighting each other. So some believe that the entity was actually some sort of other warp creature come to take advantage of anther beast while it was distracted.
If The Emperor Had a Text-to-Speech Device is my number one lore source for Warhammer. It presents the lore in such an easy to understand and interesting and funny manner.

4:40 - that guy coming up next to him was carrying an anti-armor charge, usually used for punching a hole into tank armor. So suicide bomber, but with a really big and focused bomb. And it still didn't help him

07:12 This is the moment, for me. The perfect depiction of the Astartes. After a battle that would have any normal man screaming in terror and soiling himself, these two are just - OK, job done, knives away, on to the next one. Not a flicker of doubt or hesitation.
As someone who is also relatively new, I highly recommend these 2 videos by a dude named bricky, they're called "every faction in 40k explained". It doesn't go too too deep, but itll give a decent overview for most things

The Warhammer Animation Team were so impressed that they reached out to Syama, the talented individual behind Astartes, and suggested he come aboard as part of the extended team. A huge Warhammer fan, Syama was enthusiastic about the prospect of making official Warhammer content.

the reason the space marines “don’t talk” is because they have comms in their helmets which is why you never hear them, also when the inquisition psyker is chanting, think about how loud it is that you can hear it outside of the helmets but can’t hear him talking
Ok brother. Good news. The gentleman that made this video. Has now officially released a msg that he will be working directly with games workshop animation team to make more videos to this project and other projects. The other good news to his announcement is there are other animators that are also in the deal that have also made some very amazing independent videos. So soon there will be expanding their content with full backing of games workshop. I love how EVERYBODY,without exception, gasps when they end the Inquisitorial psyker after he's possesed,hardcore 40K fan or new into the lore. It is a 100% truthfull introduction to what the general feeling of the whole setting is.

I'm new to the lore too, I'm starting out with the Horus Heresy books. Halfway through the first book and all my previous assumptions about Astartes has been upended in the best of ways!

When you say "That was too clean !", you should know that : According to *their* standards, that wasn't clean enough.
They don't talk because they don't need to. They have powerarmor with internal coms, so you will never hear them talking directly. The scene with the Inquisitor chanting only depicts it better how desperate his situation was as you could hear him through the helmet.
The thing none of the other 40k animations I've seen have managed to capture is the economy of motion. The thing that makes Astarts so special is the adage less is more. The marines in this don't make a single motion unless it's to kill something or to move towards something they need to kill. And the violence is in such short cuts interspersed with quiet unhurried motion that every moment of combat is shocking. Its what makes them soo friggin menacing. I wish more people would learn that lesson. You have to spend less time animating, have fewer opportunities for movements to start looking janky and end up with a more impressive result.

Space Marine: first time?
so fun fact: this space marine chapter is a fan made chapter called "the retributors", which are supposed to be an offshoot of an actual loyalist chapter known as the imperial fists. to give you the long and short of it, theyre a specialized space marine detachment specifically made for "sweeping and cleaning" and can literally formulate battle strategies on the fly, which means if you have an important side job you want done quick and professional with absolute brutal efficiency, you send these guys cause theyre a death squad literally made for that. no other space marine chapter comes even close to being as efficient as these guys except maybe the raven guard. to give a comparison though, your average space marine is basically just the doom slayer except theyre 9Ft tall and on every steroid imaginable just to stay alive lol. also quick side note, space marines are at the same time human and not human, theyre mutated super soldiers literally created for war and nothing else.
The creator finally got recognized by Games Workshop and he's now developing Astartes in collaboration with them officially.
