Empty cup of coffee, roll of electric tape, tape measurer, lip moisturiser and unopened pack of cigarettes. All of those bought with my inheritance money from my late granma, except the tape which I stole from work. Don't even want to think what this tells about me. :D
Watch Steve Vai's song/video called "Knappsack." He just had surgery on his right shoulder, so he couldn't use his right hand. So the song is played only with the left hand on guitar.
Yep, from the difficulties Rob was having with the solo, i'm guessing he hasn't seen it. Steve solves all his issues plus throws in stuff like whammy bar to push it even more. Every guitar player should definitely see it at least once.
They literally never stop making bangers lol. Some of the early FOO stuff got a bit rough at times but by now they've got so much experience doing this kinda thing that it makes you wonder what kind of crazy prog rock kind of album they could put together without a time limit.
Check out Steve Vai's song Knappsack if you don't already know it! The backstory there is that Steve Vai had a right arm surgery and while the arm was recovering he wrote a five minute guitar solo that's all hammer-ons and pull-offs. Freaking bonkers.
I cant belive they didnt call the right handed song "Im all right now" and the left handed song something with "sinister" in it, because "sinister" is latin for "left" or the like.
Two Sonic BOOOOOOM episodes in one day? You're spoiling us!! This song sounds like a lovechild between Artic Monkeys and Royal Blood. They should probably watch out...
I thought I'd try playing both songs at the same time to see how you sound with both hands. Doesn't really work, but at some points it almost does, like lyrics going back and forth, some parts slowing while others pick up, etc. I think this could be a cool concept though!
Possibly for genre reasons, but this is my favorite Sonic Boom! song so far. Tying in with Rob's question for structure, I always always always love an extended instrumental outro. It lets me digest the last lyrics as the imagination goes crazy over the solos.
For future reference, Rob, you can move the top hi-hat up a bit so it just barely touches the bottom when the pedal's all the way down. That way you can splash it with your foot for something quite close to a crash hit.
I know it’s just the sponsored segment, but I absolutely love my OC18 mic, just the single cardioid capsule, but I use it on my dad’s guitar and track his guitar and vocals simultaneously and individually and it sounds great both times. I’ve also seen it used as overheads on Avenged Sevenfold drums on stage
I think it would be absolutely magical if for an episode of Sonic Boom, or even just a collaboration video with Rob Scallon, if you two revisited Pretty Raw and made the version you two were hearing on October 1st. You two both felt like it could use more, vocals, guitar, other arrangement parts. The song is so beautiful and I'm so curious to see what the alternate timeline could've been!
Itd be a fun variation on this challenge you had to produce one song, both only allowed to use one hand (hard mode: if one picks right, the other has to pick left or vice versa)
I would love to see unedited/full clips from the Sonic Boom sessions! You two are a huge inspiration for my songwriting and I’d love to see more of the raw stuff!
I own a double capsule microphone like that, it's a Josephson C720. The thing I like the most with that kind of mike is that you can choose which directivity you need during the mix by blending one capsule into the other : omni, cardio or stereo of course but also hypercardoid and figure 8 if you flip the phase of one of the capsules. Pretty powerful mike 🔥
Song suggestion: a gorge surge breaches the sedimentary rock walls around it and creates a brand new tributary that waters a plant which hasn't bloomed in 30 years.
Lowkey, for these challenges you should try doing a contest in your community where people attemt to make music using the same restrictions as you do. Imagine your both audiences doing some one handed music and then you react to it in one of the videos, that would be awesome
That was so good. I am reminded of the score to John Carpenter's Vampires, and that's my favorite movie of all time so that automatically makes this ten times better.
I love the Sonic Boom series. so fun to see you guys jam out. Do you just rent this place and the crew everytime? or did you film a whole season at once😂?
You guys are absolutely amazing. Watched Andrew since I was like 10 and inspired me ever since and this song is underrated like I lowkey want it on my playlist.
each new video that comes out makes me super excited to hear a new song that was made with the most, obscene, impossible, twist ever (this comment was written with my left hand only)
It's funny how the song is 100% about wanting all that's left
high tier comment
Youre a genius
Even though it's not right
Empty cup of coffee, roll of electric tape, tape measurer, lip moisturiser and unopened pack of cigarettes.

Don't even want to think what this tells about me. :D
"It's my right, I want what's left"
Royal blood has been real quiet since this dropped…
You beat me to it man
I was just think this sounded very Royal Blood esque!😆
it's crazy how much the "jangle" during the chorus adds to the royal blood feeling lol
I'm feeling an Arctic Monkeys - Highly Suspect vibe a bit as well.
i was thinking black keys but royal blood makes a lot more sense actually
Luckily my phone was in my left hand when I saw this notification.
haha wtf
Hmmm what were you doing with the other hand >:)
You're... Dad to Me
Exactly this dead/dad - thing is what I dig the most about that song. I wonder if that was intentional (asking for a friend :D )
15:35 I'm amused at the producer playing air guitar with both hands.
think those were air drums
I stand corrected, I thought he did both air guitar and drums. My bad.
@@BeastOfSoda He did at 15:31
I'm shoketh!!!!
Sonic Boom Cinematic Universe:
1. If I Die Tonight
2. Dead To Me
3. Gone
Someone tell me I'm wrong. The storyline matches too well.
The trilogy lmao
I am incapable of watching an episode of these without booting up my DAW and trying to hash something out. Thanks guys for the inspiration!
Lol. Same here. I was about to go ride my bike, but now I'm stuck 😂
Same!
In the same way,I wrote lyrics for another song 😂
I really liked this one, but then again, I am left-handed.
@12:31 Andrew: Just left hands
Rob: Yeah, you're right
On Rob's video I only commented with my right hand to play along. So to mix it up, I only commented this with my nose.
Thats a big nose job!
Snot bad
It's not what you nose, it's who you nose.
What, Rob also does Sonic Boom vids? Why is there never a mention or even link in the description?
@@thafluu I think this is the first time they've done a split.

8:32 Andrew, you are using your right hand!! You should have used your left hand to write the lyrics.......
Technically correct. Disqualified! J/K
Lmao, his handwriting is barely legible as is, that would just be cruel.
@@Demonriftscouldve just typed it on his phone with his left hand
The house band segments are so great. I love the sass.
Its a great little touch of detail that makes this show the best on TH-cam
Next need to do one, where you both have to use each instrument together. No solo work
Very Walk Off the Earth vibes, I'd love to see them try it.
Im listening to this song panned hard left and the right handed song panned hard right. Its an experience
Check out Steve Vai's song Knappsack if you don't already know it! The backstory there is that Steve Vai had a right arm surgery and while the arm was recovering he wrote a five minute guitar solo that's all hammer-ons and pull-offs. Freaking bonkers.
I was thinking about that song all the time when watching this video! :D Great inspiration for sure!
Funny how the left hand song turned out so much more sinister...
Fun fact, the word sinister has its root in the old French word for left-handed.
@@Doug_Edwards99haha I was just going to mention that 😂 wonder if they knew…
accurate depiction of getting THE take
This is so Muse-y in all the best ways. This goes HARD
Maybe Muse’ music this whole time was just left handed
True
@@dolgolae The comedy in the knowledge that Dominique Howard (Muse's drummer) is a lefty
That's what I was thinking too...
Father's Inheritance was the alternate title to the hit "I Cant Wait to be King" from the beloved animated musical Lion King.
One of the most Known Drummers and from Def Leppard, had only One Arm and Slayed
I came here looking for the Def Leppard comment and you provided.
Except Rick Allen plays with an electronic kit that’s modified specifically for him to play with 1 hand, not an acoustic set made to play with 2 😂
@@TheDxlgames certainly he was playing with an acoustic kit before electric kits were a widespread thing?
@@gormlesspissant5872 And he had both hands then.
@@gormlesspissant5872 yeah, but after he lost his arm he was using electric specifically. Acoustic cymbals but electric Tom’s, kick and snare
I cant belive they didnt call the right handed song "Im all right now" and the left handed song something with "sinister" in it, because "sinister" is latin for "left" or the like.
I'd say the topic of this one is sinister enough to count :P
came into these comments to see where the "sinister" suggestion was
At that point, you'd need to have the right-hand title use "dexter" of one of its cognates, as that was Latin for "right."
“You’re dead to me, I want it all”
This is Kevin “Mr. Wonderful” Forgothislastname’s theme song
These songs always sound greater than the sum of their parts. The melodies make so much more impact with the full mix below them.
Those riffs sound very royal blood eque!
Two Sonic BOOOOOOM episodes in one day? You're spoiling us!!

Screaming "Give your money to me!" after "i want it all" wouldve fit so good
This track has no business going this hard about murdering Andrew's dad 😤😂
I think it has 'car advert' potential
No dads were harmed during the making of this song lol😂
Rob would make Meg happy watching this
Unironically my favorite song they’ve made on this series
totally Royal Blood coded! love it
Whoa that riff with you singing in the beginning was fire.
Possibly for genre reasons, but this is my favorite Sonic Boom! song so far. Tying in with Rob's question for structure, I always always always love an extended instrumental outro. It lets me digest the last lyrics as the imagination goes crazy over the solos.
I have successfully completed the 2 hands quest, now I feel enlightened
Missed opportunity to say "You're dad to me"
This show is pure joy, never stop doing what you're doing guys!
Goddamn, this song goes hard.
I can confidently say that Andrew and Rob have more talent in their left hand than most people in their whole body. That was sick!
Rob's solo was very Tom Morello...
What crazy is how If I Die Tonight leads into this song so well
simplicity that's forced by the challenge makes it sound so evil and caveman-y. really elecates the vibe
this is song is absolutely awesome.
For a song about 'Fathers Inheritance' I was expecting more "My father will hear about this!" kinda energy 😂
"IS THAT A THREAT?" 😂
I love the acid blues/stoner rock vibes on this one.
For future reference, Rob, you can move the top hi-hat up a bit so it just barely touches the bottom when the pedal's all the way down. That way you can splash it with your foot for something quite close to a crash hit.

Love Sonic Boom almost as much as the supporting band!
These songs just keep getting better and better.
I think this is my favorite sonic boom track yet

Love both of these tracks! The contrast between them is so cool.
We're already over half the year to First of October again!
Itd be a fun variation on this challenge you had to produce one song, both only allowed to use one hand (hard mode: if one picks right, the other has to pick left or vice versa)
First guitar riff sounded like top gear intro
I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed that
That ending solo was sick. Honestly the whole song was. Both were. You guys are awesome, and love the show.
that "i sure do!" to the tambourine is the most Rob thing
Another fun song, no surprise. I love how it all sounds so janky, but the end result is coherent and interesting.
This song is insanely cool. Killer vibe, literally
This is my favorite content that you guys do, it’s like having a mini-First of October all year round.
im super glad you did both versions
The left hand path has a proud musical tradition.
that "make your own rules" hat looking real menacing now
I'm such a fan of Andrew's handwriting idk why

I don't think I have ever been excited by a sponsor until today. Good to see the old AKG team still innovating
These videos are edited so brilliantly! I would watch 1 a day. Very addicting content.😂
These two songs have no right to be this good
Any time Andrew uses this vocal filter it’s a banger.
Song suggestion: a gorge surge breaches the sedimentary rock walls around it and creates a brand new tributary that waters a plant which hasn't bloomed in 30 years.
I feel like not ending on a left-only high-five was a missed opportunity.
I watched both hands.......... love it.

Man both of these songs came out so cool.
The left handed song is so sinister

As a left handed person, I am so glad that the left hands only song is objectively better than the right hands only song. 😋😂😎
So great, but I can't applaud it with only my left hand.
how are these guys so good with so much expensive equipment at so young
4:33 Cheating, Rob used his right hand for emotional support!
Wow that Solo was insane for only using one hand
It’s the PFUDOR guy
the high five at 9:35 was with right hands and thus disqualifies this song from the left hands club
Black Keys vibes. I love it. Great song!
