I love how Rob's default playing style with his right hand is _Midwest Emo/Math Rock,_ never gets old. 😅
I find that musical vibe so comforting. It is like going back home to the midwest. 😁
eh, I think it gets old-but it was never my thing to begin with. Numbers don't lie 🤷♂️
its also facgce tuning so its even more midwest emo
90% of what you play is what you played when you were a teenager
He went the same way with the lyrics, too.
No left? Sounds about right. (Walks out)
Good one man
i'm glad you left
Ba dum bum tiss. (The drum thing after a joke) 🥁
Thank you
OOOH! He said it!
Trust Rob to make another banger Midwest Emo song again.
just need to add a suburban house and some screaming, there you go
"Verse, schwoop, verse, schwoop, chorus."
Glad I'm not the only person who makes up words when figuring out song structure with a band.
Now for the sequel: No Hands - great work Rob and Andrew!
This brings to mind Andrew with a single drumstick taped to his head, head banging out the drum fills lol
So ... theremin?
@@silverfireVRgaming Plus a drum machine and E-bowed guitar and bass.
Hey, thats my territory ;)
as a guitarist that recently lost his left hand this is actually very helpful, also ive found that I can play bass with my elbow to fret the notes
brooooooo, so sorry to hear.. hope you find a way
@cglr5945 I've been releasing music on my new account TriplxAqua, check out my song monster it's the last song I recorded guitar tracks for
Im so glad! you can always use your right hand for fretting and do legato to! I hope you find a unique style that is specific to you!
keep on rocking my dude. absolutely nothing can stop you
Get a tapping oriented instrument like the Chapman Stick! I hope you can keep making music!
Rob brought the Steve from Minecraft drip today
not enough love for this amazing observation!♥
should've been casted for the movie lol
No joke, I would love to see a Sonic Boom episode where the challenge is just "write a song normally."
Here's my reasoning (please pay attention to me)
1: The Complexity Effect
Doing something with a gimmick for a while makes doing a simple task easier. For example, I've been playing drums for years, but now it's a lot harder for me to do a 2+4 drumbeat because I'm so used to doing more complex parts.
2: Education
An episode of Sonic Boom going over the songwriting process that you two employ without any restrictions could be an interesting thing to watch, in addition to giving advice to starting songwriters.
3: Meta Novelty
Having an episode of a show entirely based around the idea of making a song with a gimmick or handicap, where the gimmick or handicap is that there isn't one is just good self aware comedy.
Love you guys, keep up the good work
Edit: GUYS, I GET IT, FIRST OF OCTOBER
There are still restrictions put on them in FoO. They give themselves 50 minutes per song. I'm talking *ZERO CAVEATS.* No time limit, no direction, no nothing. Just write a song
That would be great to see!
they kinda do this with the riff videos, they take a riff and build a song from it
@@ethanmaxwell28 but even then, it's based off something previous. I'm talking just put them in a room and front-to-back write a song
I’m so into this idea
its called first of october
Gotta love how the right handed song is all about love and the left one is all about murder 😂
The duality of man.
Song is a straight up American Football song
I was going to say turn of the century indie rock but you got the bullseye!
Yep the open tuning arpeggios and that guitar tone scream American football
Haha totally
@@johnwrath3612also robs vocals
i was gonna say covet but not enough time signatures !
There’s something about Rob’s voice that’s, like…nostalgic? For something I don’t think I ever had? I really don’t know how to describe it but it’s really nice
It’s the midwest emo inflection
There's a word for that feeling - anemoia :D
@@HaralHeisto yo that's actually really cool! Thank you for telling me about it :D
@@HaralHeisto I see you are a man of culture as well (Vsauce watcher)
@@nihilisticalbino No, I just remember when it was first coined
Double episode of SB is always a treat
This is such a Rob song and I love it, reminds me of early First of October
It is very ben wyatt loves calzones esq
Really happy to hear a Rob lead vocal for the first time in quite a while!
The OG comment gets the like
I knew the other comment was a bot. Glad the original is still here. Looks like Rob appreciates your comment, even if he didn't realize he was responding to a bot!
Awww man, a bot stole my Rob like :/
Love Clutch is such a banger
lol
Like 'love gun' if Kiss was a motorcycle gang
I haven't watched Andrew for so long that I hadn't seen Sonic Boom yet and wow that's a lot of camera whiplash
You're missing out on so much good content! It's basically diet First of October every other week
I love watching sonic boom its part of my Saturday afternoon routine
@@Wildkidnoremaklmao that’s a perfect description of it
You guys harmonize really well together. More of that, please!
8:00 Liking the vid from that alone. The thought of a teenager professing their love to a girl with just a mixtape of probably kind of crappy drumming is fucking hilarious.
Gonna watch both these videos hard panned to one side. That's what real G's do.
"Rob Sceinfeld isn't real. He can't hurt you!"
- 4:44
That drums' tone sound amazing!
Title should have been "all that's left feels right"
I love when songs don't use a lyric as the title. That'd be a great one
@@kiwiboy1999but its just the title? What does that have to do with the song? It’s just a code so we know which song is which. Sometimes it’s a good code, sometimes it’s a bad code. The part you actually listen to is the same. So let go of this these small things and your life will be a little bit better. We all want better life, no?
what about 'On One Hand'
@@justusbjork7337 uhh im pretty sure you're agreeing with them, that the title doesn't have to be a lyric in the song
@@mrtrainman4148maybe they thought kiwiboy was using irony to mock the original comment.
I once watched a video with too many hands.
I once watched a video with too few hands.
But this video? This one's just right.
It is so sweet to see you two making music together, you have a beautiful frendship ! I really loved the song, probably one of my favorite from SonicBoom after "Silence".
Thanks again for all the investment and fun you put into this ! I wish that you keep the love you have for music and each other, greetings from Paris !
dude... que pasa was amazing
rob's vocals are amazing!! this song is so pretty
genuinely blown away with how this song sounds, amazing job as always guys
Wow. This song is FOO-worthy (which is the highest rank of songs). Thank you both!
I love you two.
It’s so great to see two guys with a friendship this great, REAL brotherhood where guys are ok with being tender and having fun together.
I can’t use my left hand for real. The past year I’ve been losing a battle with cubical tunnel syndrome (not carpel tunnel). It’s now in my nerve. I can’t play most instruments I used to. Not to mention daily living is very difficult. Financially I’ve struggled more and more. On welfare now. It’s been pretty ruff. But a lot of inner work has occurred, which surely is a good thing.
I still write songs playing one handed drum. One handed synth. Looping. It’s very cathartic, as it always has been for me.
But setting up gear is hard and dangerous for increasing injury. So performing is a no go now. So I’m working a lot on home studio recording now.
I really appreciate this video. Strangely inspiring. Not to mention just fun as all your videos are. Thank you ❤️🙏✨
I really like watching very talented people do their thing.
This is great! reminds me alot of "winter months" Love hearing you on vocals Rob!
Somehow it's always these midwest emo like songs that I love the most. First "Do you want to", then "we had to shed our skins when we saw the other sun" (to which I have an almost spiritual connection), and now "Love Klutz".
Could Rob maybe just record a whole midwest emo album please? Thanks in advance
I LOVE how you take us through your creative process!
Gotta HAND it to you, you did everything RIGHT
This is single-handedly the best video Rob’s ever uploaded today!
Its great to have more Scallon videos, i've been loving all of these
Man, this vibe just feels so right.
This is a beautiful duet. It really captures the relationship between Rob and Andrew. ❤️
I'm so glad to see Rob back in the swing of things. He always makes some of the most hard hitting midwest emo I've ever heard and most of the time it's for a silly video like this lol.
What a righteous outcome it was!
This had no right (or should I say left) being this good
I watched both hands.......... love it.
Sounds great!! New Sonic Boom episodes are so exciting 🥰 your energy together is wonderful to watch
how did you comment when this was uploaded 6 minutes ago :0
@@evilClive21 patreon perk ✨ the upload date shows when it was made public, but people can leave comments while it's still unlisted
This song reminds me so much of the early First of October songs. I love it.
I love that these guys are so amazingly talented that they have to find the most insane ways of challenging themselves lol
this is insanely beautiful...
I freaking love this. Thanks to both of you for making music such a safe space to explore!
I love your collabs.
I don't know how long you guys have known eachother but the bro-chemistry between you two is awesome. The one-offs, as well as First of October, are really great to watch.
As soon as I saw Andrew in the video, I got fired up because I knew it would probably be awesome. I was not disappointed.
It's amazing how fast they work too - all those October albums must be why their chemistry is so good for stuff like this. Another great self-imposed challenge that resulted in a catchy as hell song.
They say all good things come to an end and man am I really trying to savor this duo
Freaking nailed it! Absolutely love watching how you guys come up with ideas on the fly.
7:59 What a fantastic bit
To play along I only typed this with my right hand.
😉
This was peak Rob. Gorgeous song, happy to see you vibing my man 😊
It's interesting that I usually don't like either of their vocals but it actually works perfectly for this genre lol very nice
I normally love what you produce but this was just all right
Your creativity never gets old my friend
I loved this one Rob. One of your best vocal performances and the bridge was just great!
this honestly turned out to be a really really good song. I absolutely adore the staccato feel of the vocals in the bridge
Where Thursday meets Minus the Bear - love it!
this show brings me great joy for many reasons
Clearly one of the best songs you've ever made!
7:59 this is the best part of this episode lol
Wow this is crazy timing love you rob and Andrew ❤
I love when Rob goes back to his roots and plays the music of his people. Midwest Emo/Math Rock. As a Chicagoan as well I am pleased.
It's so midwest emo i love it
summer 2000 vibes kinda, really great song, thank you Rob and Andrew.
Yeah!! Sonic Boom videos are back! I love watching you guys have fun
Ive missed these so much. Hope your all doing well!
Band lore! POG!
I would love to see unedited/full clips from the Sonic Boom sessions! You two are a huge inspiration for my songwriting and I’d love to see more of the raw stuff!
Hey guys. I just had a good friend basically say he doesn’t want to associate anymore and I really connected with the concept of this song. Thank you both❤
Sounds like an El ten eleven guitar part I love it
Thought the same thing. The whammy pedal really highlights that sound
This was so fun to watch and the song is so great guys! Good job
Nice! I miss hearing your voice on these songs as often!
That Dead On ‘67 looks sick I got one coming in the mail soon 😎
I feel like Rob's vocals have improved so much since he started doing First of October type stuff with Andrew
Another Rob Special!! This was great!!!
The left hand song is such a bop too
It’s so math rock and the lyrics match it perfectly
Rob has really gotten better as a vocalist over the years. I'm impressed!
This musical exploration, a friggin blast!❤
"right hand only" Rob and Andrew immediately start using both feet
This was totally in your wheel house, as soon as I saw the video title I knew it'd be something vibey as hell 🔥
Wooow this one turned out great! That last snare hit was perfect 👍
I was about a minute in before I started wanting to shout "THE KEYS ARE RIGHT THERE!" and "THE HARPEJI IS RIGHT THERE!"
The vocals!!! and the harmonies were so good :D!!
Not even 2 mins in and I already feel this so much
Thats actually a really really good Song! I neeed that on Spotify!!!❤❤
so fun to watch these. thanks guys
Rob one the greatest Midwest emo writers
Love it when yall film house band clips for the specific episode
Creative restriction often gives great results! Seriously, one of my fav tracks y'all have made so far
You guys pulled this out clutch!!! Bravo!
This was great
this song made me nostalgic and a little sad, AMAZING song writing and creativity though!
I love that the edit shows parts of uncertainty. There's moments where Rob hits the pedal and it sounds a little weird or different from what he was doing before and there's like a "Ehhh, I dunno, maybe?" And Andre picks him up a little or they realize "oh it's okay, we have other instruments to add in and fill those parts." Making something always has these moments.
the crash zoom at 5:30 is bellissimo
Feels almost surreal watching these now knowing that hypomania was in full effect during the recordings. Nothing really jumps out at you like something was going on at all.
