    Hi Mate. Just want to say thanks for making this video, it's helped me out big time, I owe you a beer. I have been thinking about a Givi Trekker Outback box to go on my Triumph 955i Tiger. I was getting well confused with what I would need. - Some places were saying you need this and that mounting plate, then bike specific arms to attach the mounting plate, and I couldn't find my bike listed! You are a legend showing that universal plate and its part number. Like your Himalayan, my Triumph Tiger has a back rack, so using the universal plate is the way to go. Just hope they are available in England. Much respect to you, David

    Nice installation video!
    You may have to reinforce the rear rack as that will break for sure even with 5kgs of weight on it.

    • @DangarMotorcycling
      @DangarMotorcycling  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I was thinking the same thing. I'm either going to weld a bit of extra bracing to it, or maybe even remove it and fabricate complete replacement.

    • @AlpineMoto
      @AlpineMoto 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or, you may do something like this one =>adventuremotorcyclinghandbook.files.wordpress.com/2012/07/adv4.jpg
      And completely get rid of the stock rear rack.
      Because, the two connectors below the rear seat, that plate with two bolts on the chassis is weak and doesn't support much weight though you weld and reinforce it.. What I suggest is, If you are planning to add panniers, then fabricate a new rear rack with support of side racks.

    • @DangarMotorcycling
      @DangarMotorcycling  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've ordered a set of Donowyn's pannier racks, so once they arrive I will install them and then see the best way to reinforce the stock rack. I've got a few ideas that I think are also going to solve another problem at the same time so I'm looking forward to seeing if it works out.

    Great description. I’m looking to install same in a cb500x. So to steal the topbox, just have to unscrew the universal plate underneath the rack?

  • @2Meerkats

    Hey Dangar - on the plate - are those 2 x front adapter plate tabs/risers really made from plastic? or is there a metal reinforcement tab hidden under there?

    Hello! Do you know if the side Give Panniers - outback trekker 37 Ltr would be compatible with the bike? I mean, the racks/ fittings plus the exhaust on the side - if that may be an issue?

    The GIVI looks like some proper kit, what do you think of the quality? Does it seem sturdy?

    • @DangarMotorcycling

      Yes, the top box is great, very happy with it.

      @@DangarMotorcycling I am not that familiar with GIVI, and, so far not much is being made for my choices, the Himalayan, or the Kawasaki versys X300. I would like to have some luggage capacity, but most of the leaders like sw-motech don't make anything for these two bikes. Thanks for your opinion on the GIVI.

      I really like the look of the RE Long Rider bags. I also like the fact that Donowyns racks sit in close to the bike for filtering between cars.

    Nice videos Dangar! I'll be following you.
    How's the Himalayan's power delivery? Did you ever find it lacking? 24.5 bhp does feel sparse for a 410 cc motor.

    • @DangarMotorcycling
      @DangarMotorcycling  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      So far I'm happy with it, but I haven't really been pushing it because I'm still running it in. Once that is over I'm going to be taking it to a dyno for some tuning. Will definitely do a video on it when I do.

      Thanks for the reply. I rode this machine across the Himalayas and was pretty impressed with it offroad. Only grouse was the lack of power with the luggage strapped on.

    GIVI strongly not recommended.
    I bought GIVI blade B37 top box 2 months ago and have been facing numerous quality related issues. Contacted GIVI Italy/ India and they refused to even look into the problems seriously and displayed care a damn attitude towards these short falls.
    After my personal experience, GIVI made me believe that they are an overrated, unprofessional and arrogant company to patronise with.
    1. The base plate rubbers are made of material which tends to stick to the top box. Due to this this, every-time I remove the top box, the rubbers sticks to the box and come off. The first time this happened, I lost those rubbers on a highway and then, had to go and look for them in the middle of the night. If you lose these mounting rubbers, your top box will rattle crazily and will that will eventually damage the base plate/ box.
    2. The top box cover hinge has a play and due to this, the cover continuously rattles.
    3. The packing rubber inside the box and the cover not fitting well. Shouldn’t that be the case, the point 2 above may not happen.
    4. The push bottom of the box cover is not very smooth. I have to press really hard to push open the cover. This is dangerous, as the bike may come off the side stand and fall due to this push. I have to be very watchful and have to keep a hand behind the box while opening it.
    Shared all the concerns and videos with GIVI and I was quite flabbergasted by their response and reaction.
    They strongly made me believe now that their customer service/ satisfaction is Rock bottom.
    Highly overrated brand and I am in process of making a full review video of this box and posting it on TH-cam shortly. Once done, will share the link here too: 👍
    After using this box for 5000 odd kms, which is a mix of city, highway and off road drives, I feel one should opt for a much stable, stronger and permanently mounted top box like orange candy, Motocan, etc, as GIVI seems to be more super bikes and highway centric design and not made for an adventure bike like Himalayan, which is made to withstand constant vibrations/ beatings.
    After the above mentioned experience and shelling INR 1,3000/-, I felt deceived and humiliated by such an awefull experience.
