Well if you wont understand this song you have to understand the song before this song because this album is one story
And basically this song tolking about the man hides in the castle knowing that they would kill him if they found him. As he hides to plan his next move, he realizes that he is running out of time to fulfill his task and decides to get Melinda and escape. He feels that “The Council of the Cross” know he has returned.

I enjoy your reactions so much, thank you for loving Opeth man. My favorite live performance of Opeth's is The Roundhouse Tapes. Unfortunately, they only do one song off the Still Life album (Face of Melinda). You wouldn't regret watching the whole thing, if you ever had the time. It's Mikael in his prime (with Peter still there!).

Greetings from chile… and if you let me made a recomendation , please visit Los jaivas - la poderosa muerte (powerfull death) en machu pichu, los jaivas are a chilean folcloric prog rock from 70s, and that particular song is a musicalization of the nobel price pablo neruda poet…
