Sideslip to butter carve. Now that's next level.
@Jiri Cartman Gubis 4:27
Amazing. Thanks for sharing. i'm sure i'm gonna learn these moves. At one time i was on a slope , i saw a guy spinning around on a snowboard doing 180s , 360s, 540, 720s, and so on, i was speechless. Well after a few falls i managed to master those moves , now i'm spinning around till i get dizzy , of course without falling down. People like you motivate me. I didn't had an instructor , i learned from here..yes youtube , snowboard pro camp , snowboard addiction , etc. You guys motivate me to do more. Thank you for that. God bless. Keep it up.
Agreed, I am doing the same
Where were you at? I recommend skate Banana 🍌 Board easier for butters spins...once spin is going hands are used to keep spin going momentum
I focused on carving regular and switch, pressing into nose and tail (regular/switch), and the 4 180s at slow speeds first! The butter combos come naturally when the fundamentals are good!
Awesome
Yes the best inspiration on TH-cam for snowboarding. Love the line "you might catch some edges." Of course starting out get ready to face plant a few times
Hi Ryan! I really preferred your video format a couple of years ago: 2 to 3 minutes, just you riding wonderfully and giving tips with a bit of slow motions. The format was perfect for watching on the chairlift on the way to some great buttering! 5-6 min is quite long and there is a lot of talking and less demo. This is personal but I feel that if I express myself others may share this view. Thanks anyway for all the good tips these past years! I really improved my riding thanks to you 👍😁👌🏂
3 boys, 5, 7, 10 loved it and didn’t want to share. We didn’t adjust the bindings because they’re not the easiest to adjust, especially with gloves/cold hands so it could’ve been a little tighter for the youngest and looser for the oldest but they still had a great time and it held up well for our first time.
Flat land has been around before rail and boxes and I understand the progression on to boxes and rails and jumps without a doubt but there's something about buttering that just seems more smooth like I said I understand hitting a rail but there just something so smooth and steezy about buttering down a hill . I'm almost 40 so I'm from the older generation boarder camber and that's all we had was flatland tricks. people still definitely know how to carve now but it's not as good as they used to be some riders now seem to learn just enough to move on to the park but buttering is a skill on its own and it feels fantastic and it looks SAF
3:11 at 0.25 playback speed is awesome... great video, thank you!
In my experience it's easier to do butters/presses on a shorter board. I have 160cm and 162cm boards but when I tested my friend's 155cm it was ten times easier.
U guys are way too good at that
I really can't stop watching your videos - truly amazing and well explained. If only I had more time to practice. It would be great to see some of the butters in super-slomo to see if and how you move from edge to edge...
Nice work guys!!!! Love how easy it looks for you both! :)
You guys are really good! Thanks for sharing your tips and rides
afton🤍🤍 learning how to butter this year at troll and afton
Cuz Is rockin the Skelly key twin. So siick
I just got back home from riding at Afton. Its been a great season here, lots of snow with actual powder days!
Minnesotaaaa YEAHHH
Great tunes on this video 👍
Nice ride love it
Love the dance moves 💃💃 I always do that too 😂
I leanred how to snowboard at Afton!
Liiit now I wanna go ride
Oh, he's a Star Trek Fan.. that explains it.
You are best🤙
Cool
Just play around with it 😲🤣
dislocated my shoulder two weeks ago doing butters LOL
Same thing happened to me 3yrs ago
Oh damn...just got done dorking around at Afton today.
Love yr style dude
Your videos are always so good, add more footage at the end too, can't get enough, please get some footage at BC, red buffalo run :)
Sweet vid!
I’ve spent some time searching but can you give a rundown of your gear? Board, bindings, boots? From there I can figure out the stiffness you are going with. You seem to have a tremendous amount of mobility for what I’d be guessing is a stiff setup
I'm such a dork to not have my 'work in progress' website in the description.. it's a bit dated as to my newest specs... But www.nextlevelsnowboarding.com has some extra insights. ✌️
Saw you at breck on Wednesday and didn’t get a chance to find you again!!
Hi Ryan could you do a vid on your thoughts about counter-rotation? I’m just one of those who increase the NR on the hill, but have been taught to keep the body aligned with the board. I do realize it’s important as a beginner to maintain your body alignment to help with balance. Also do you think it’s a good idea to master the basic turns first (with regular stance +switch) before getting into carving? Thanks!
"Name Droppin" tricks. p.s. MAKE MORE VIDEOS!!! P.S. ONE OF THE RACERS AT THE MOUNTAIN I TAUGHT AT HAD A DONEK... YOU DUN COME UP MAN & I THINK U DESERV3 IT CAUSE YOU AIN'T JUST A BAD-ASS ... YOU'RE ABOUT EVERYONE DOING IT... NOT JUST YOU IN FRONT OF THEM DROPPING YOUR NAME. QAPLAH' & LONG LIVE THE HOUSE OF KNAPTON!!!
Should i have a soft, flexible snowboard to learn these tricks or i can do that on any board?
'buttering is not hard at all' ... :( am I incapacitated or he really makes it look easy?
Your board looks short and very flexible.
I’m very heavy 210 lbs 5’10” i have a “freestyle” 157 cm K2 board and it does not flex that much when I do butters and ollies
Hmm. 159 (I'm 5'10). And the owner of Donek says the stiffness is 12/10. 😂
Ryan Knapton - o ok thanks for the info.
The owner swindled you my friend
🤣. Gotta trust me on this. My board is extremely stiff.
@@RyanKnapton That's really surprising. I figured you were riding a board with a 1 or 2 flex rating.
@@RyanKnapton "The owner swindled you my friend" is easily my favorite thing in all of TH-cam comments. Said to the namesake of the Donek Knapton Twin, a board literally made for you. With your name on it. I just can't get enough of it.
What jacket do you wear? I dig the lines and the fact that the sleeves are reinforced
I have 2 all mountain boards, and man if it's a job to do any buttering on them. Is some of this in the board, and are mine too stiff, or is it because I'm old, lack any athletic ability, and should just go eat a cream puff?
Im naturally much more comfortable spinning frontside rather than backside. Any tips?
That’s so nice. What board do you recommend for buttering? I currently ride a button 166w custom camber and tried but it’s way to stiff
you guys look similar with the gear on
So nose manual and manual basically
what board do you recommend for this style of riding? camber, rocker, hybrid?
I really need help with deciding what board I should get next, I want to be able to butter but so hit the jumps and park, anyone got any tips or suggestions??
I still have trouble buttering. Is it easier with a wider or shorter stance?
Hello, anybody knows whats the profile of Ryans board?
Is it possible to do all this things with a normal board?
Struggling with the last part of a 180 to tail press 180
Dang how do you not catch edge as you’re spinning around like that? When I try to spin on a press, I slow down too much and it stops my spin/catch my edge :(
He's shifting his weight in different directions from his toes and heel while he spins, it's insanely difficult. Requires a lot of muscle memory.
Hi. Please tell me, what is the deflection of your snowboard (rocker, Kember, flat)?
Camber. For the pop and hard carve response.
Do you need switch riding before trying butters?
I use to do some 360 buttering versions long before I could ride switch well... But for alot of them, especially any versions of 180's, being comfortable on your edges switch is ideal. ❄️🏂❄️
What goggles does Ryan have on?
What kinda coat are you wearing?
So afraid of splatting
사이다!
15yrs AASI? CAASI?
Where are those accents from? Canada? Minnesota?
Minnesota. 😀🤘
Lmao everyone started from Minnesota
STIFF board battering ???
Please show some failure..so I wont feel so bad when i catch edge:))
so cool, can you give me some tips on my channel
less talk do more
