    In my limited time on the mountain, I try and work on this trick based on Ryan's older tutorial. This tutorial one is really a nice supplement to that one, mainly due to the GoPro advancements. What really sticks out to me in getting good and smooth at this trick is the downhill shoulder position. When Ryan starts to initiate the trick, he really commits to an aggressive downhill position (4:55), and then "closing" his downhill shoulder (4:57) when beginning the rotation, which allows a nice smooth 180 finish. If you notice Katie while initiating the noseroll, it seems her shoulder is "open" (4:24), leading to a choppier look to the trick. No criticism at all -- she is better at it that I am in only one day! But something I will think about next time I am on the mountain. So thanks to Ryan for this follow-up tutorial, and would love to hear his thought process at the time of trick initiation.

    Katie: Gets tired of buttering, pops a 3... 😂
    Love the tips you gave on this - UNDER rotate (make it a 160 or so), and resist the temptation to change edges to the heels. Toe lock to toe lock. And LOOK at the opposite side of the run so you don't bring your head all the way around (also causing over rotation).

    • @RyanKnapton
      @RyanKnapton  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hell yeah Jim! In the next update on this (and the opposite for heelside to heelside on the FS ones), I'm going to show that teqnique we did with the one side of the run, middle, back to same side and using the 'targeting fixation' of the eyes to help keep the head from over-rotating and making the edges transfer. W.H.A.R. Qapla'!

    Right on you said you were going to and you did 😉. 5 years ago Revisited..... Great work Ryan. this year I'm going to work on some nose rolls tail roles. It'll be interesting. this is my second year on the 30.2 CM waist donek. I guess 200 + lbs might help a little I tried pressing this board a little bit last year but I just wanted to get a feel for it and those laid out carves. One thing I learned and obviously from you. you have to ride this board aggressively going into these presses and turns you need that momentum body/board shift, at that high speed. you can ride this board at a cruising speed, no doubt but in order to do presses and those carves you got to push this board hard. I noticed the harder you push this board the better performance but you don't want to be an idiot too highest speed but nevertheless They felt fantastic, and people on the hill noticed it was pretty cool she's a stiff board but I love it and it turns heads on the Hills cuz everyone else is on these noodle boards not even carving properly

      It's not too difficult of a trick, BUT, a very solid switch game is needed to do em properly, so get on that switch traverse single edge glide vs. slip at least a run a time for practice. ✔️

    • @TheSnowboardJourney
      @TheSnowboardJourney 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most definitely. I'm incorporating working switch into every day I'm up on the hill. It's so crazy to me how I feel relatively competent riding regular and flip to switch....day 1 n00b teetering and about to fall / catch an edge. Then again, I can't throw a football or baseball left handed without looking turrble either.

    • @RyanKnapton
      @RyanKnapton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure, but it's gotta be the heaviest 160 I've ever touched. Stiffer (denser) woods are used in the core for stability, and it's massively wide. That said, it doesn't feel heavier when I ride it cuz Im able to use the boards stiff camber to 'pop' me when I load up pressure during a carve and such.
