  • An invigorating, windy spring day in Tocha beach, central Portugal, north of Figueira da Foz and south of Mira beach. We love this beach because it is much less developed, quieter, while having all necessary amenities. There are miles of pine and sand dunes leading up to "Praia da Tocha" (Tocha beach) itself, which also offer a chance to hike and camp in a peaceful, unspoiled natural area. Just a few kilometres from Tocha, is the larger town of Cantanhede, and close to Tocha beach is the village of Tocha which has a large market open every Sunday.
Tocha beach is a great beach for finding sea shells, especially on stormy days when the tide goes out.
In summer, the beach is pretty full but you can still walk along the beach that stretches uninterrupted for many miles of sandy coastline in a "straight" line and find a private spot away from the crowds and civilization if you prefer to commune with nature more intimately.
Parking can be an issue in peak season, but we always seem to find a spot down below the coastal road area, and then walk up the hill towards it to get to the beach.
It's a place worth visiting if you just love to lay on the beach and enjoy being at the seaside, although being the wild Atlantic ocean, it's not usually great for swimming, although if you are a strong, experienced swimmer, and there are life guards around, that's still an option. Surfing is also a great way to enjoy the ocean, but again, always recommended when there are life guards present. Respect the ocean. It's very powerful! :)

I used to be very familiar with praia da Tocha…..since my parents house was near Cantanhede.
BTW, i was wrong….on the other video. There are Robins in Portugal,,,the European robin, mainly in the winter.
