Whenever it's parcels, I can't avoid comparing it to the magnificent Hansa Studios recording though.

@@delikatus True true! This was quite well done however. But the Hansa studio session is untouchable still - but to be fair, it's a famous recording studio, whereas KEXP isn't. It's therefore more impressive in a way - if that was the actual live sound... and not altered after the fact. But those guys are so consistent they probably have everything rigged through Ableton for reverb changes on drums and such other things that I would have done after the live audio was already broadcast to polish it up.

Parcels has become the best band in the world. Not recognized worldwide yet, but save my word.
Most songs on latest album a measly 0.5 Mil.. I'd love for you to be right but I just don't see it sadly.. And how others cant see their obvious talent is inexplicable..

@@chost-059 it doesn't really sound like instant crush but it does sound like other songs from random access memories
that's because that style of disco funk is heavily inspired by the band chic, and nile rodgers from chic was a big part of the daft punk album as well
Hands down, one of the greatest bands writing and performing today! Their musicianship, energy, and overall love of the sound makes them stand head an shoulders above any of their contemporaries. Long live Parcels!! And thank you!!

Saw these guys at the Rock Werchter festival, best live show of the whole weekend and one of the best shows of my life ❤
"Our philosophy in a way is to keep moving, keep changing everything. We can never really play the same thing twice because we get bored very easily"... Now that's why they are the greatest. Always finding a different way to play a song with changing tempos, intros, transitions, arrangements. Each studio session, live session, concert is unique. We may like one version better, but we will NEVER be bored. The Parcels you get when you see them live is a unique Parcels and that's exactly what keeps it real.

I know it's not a particularly original point but I'm always floored by the quality of production KEXP squeeze out of live performances. Almost studio quality audio.

@@yeskimkim Sure, but it *is* studio quality because it's *in* a studio - which is somehow less impressive than getting near it in an environment that has no rights sounding this good. This is direct sound!! I can achieve this after the stream as an audio engineer, but live, that's a whole other level (it may have been altered after the live performance but I do believe this is what people heard on KEXP that very day with perhaps some exceptions like reverb switch on drums etc but even those could be controlled in an Ableton Live session with a click)
I get what you're saying, but the KEXP audio folk know what they're doing and are a big part of why these sessions sound so great. (Obviously the bands play a pretty big part too 😉) I like to think of it less as "squeezing" and more like "enhancing."
I truly think we will look back on Parcels as being one of the greatest bands of all time.
If we still make music in a hundred years, I'm sure musicians will still play Rhodes pianos, telecasters, jazz basses & Strats. Their sounds are timeless.
Parcels changed my life, what a perfect addition to KEXP, glad to see they're becoming really famous (pun intended)

How I LOVE them with their own personal styles! Pat with his face scrunched in raw musician's passion in his ripped-seams favourite jumper that he probably woke up in (we all have such a fav jacket). Noah the elegant Byron Bay beaut with angel's locks bouncing like his bass. Toto with his half-French style chic and boyish smile. Louie the synth-magician in the background with his unostentatious down-to-earth shirts and flaxen bowl cut. And Jules who is just an iconic mix of music history's greatest styles fused into the incomparable modern Jules-Crommelin-piece-of-art.
Oh and their music?! The same beautiful mix of their personalities transcended from visual to audio level! No one else out there sounds quite like them!

What you've just felt is the deepest soul of Pat, Noah, Louie, Toto and Jules, who came up with an emotional, orchestral oriented album, that shows their growth as artists and their pure sensibility. It's even beyond the catchy grooves that had already blown our minds in Live Vol. 1 (the live album that made me love them forever, check it ASAP). Their harmonies are like melting sugar and their rhythmic chemistry is ridiculously BADASS. To me, it's a story of ego sacrifice in the name of shared, noble ART. They wouldn't be the same apart. They've built something greater than themselves, for us to lighten up and to be ourselves. Welcome to the Parcels family!
I have no words for live Vol. 1. It's sublime and perfect from start to end. I've listened to it many times so far and I still get mesmerized! As I read somewhere in the comments, it's like they were born to play together ♥️

Stupendous! Thank you KEXP for sharing this fantastic supergroup. For anyone interested, I HIGHLY recommend checking out Parcels' live set "Vol. 1" on TH-cam. Imo, they are the epitome of musicianship and jamming.
The MID-measure tempo shift at 6:35 is incredible. It's somehow more abrupt than it should be and yet completely seamless at the same time.
One of the most exciting music out there these days. Love you guys

Saw them in Chicago on their first US tour. It was one of the best concerts I have ever seen in my life. They were so engaging and felt so unique. Can really see the Daft Punk influence in the first album. Love the continued evolution!
