    I used a 14" milwaukee dry cut saw and cut 3 pieces of 3/16 fb at a time. Very quickly I had finished the 1000 pieces that I needed.

    Is your bottle jack adhered to the bottom cross member or is it just resting there?

    you should make a bracket that will come off the jack and distribute the weight better on the ironworker looked like it leaned to one side when u cut the steel flatbar that u bought the ironworker for

    Now that's cool! Some of the noise could be coming from things rattling around but I know when I use my ending punch on some 1/4" x 1" flat bar it goes off like a shot. Scares me every time.

      Does it go off like a shot on the Bliss? I thought maybe it had something to do with the weight of the machine.

      @@craigsmachineshop2040 Yes, in the Bliss. That machine is around 1,000 lbs. As the punch descends there's a pressure buildup in the material and punch. Once the pressure is great enough the material gives way and the the punch,... punches. I think the "shot " comes from the pressure release. Just a guess though. Happens pretty quick in the Bliss but it's a sharp piercing noise. I just went back a re-watched my video and I must have muted the live sound a little because it's not that bad in the video. In mine, there's not much to rattle around to add to the noise but in the one you're using there's the unit that probably jumps, the bed that's just sitting on the pins and the guides that have some play in them. All that likely adds to the noise. Come to think of it part of my noise could be the quick cycle. It takes about 10 tons to make the cut and it happens in about 1/2 a second. Maybe I'm mis-remembering mine. The old memory isn't what it used to be :(

      @@ecdezz I just worry about making too much noise and having the neighbor complain. The press I am looking at is about 750 lbs. I would hate to get it and still have the same problem. I guess I could do something to deaden the sound. Yeah, I know the feeling about the memory. If I haven't done certain things in Fusion 360 for a while, it takes longer than I like to come back to me.

      @@craigsmachineshop2040 I hear you about the noise concern. I live in a relatively bad neighborhood but the one good thing is there's seldom any complaints about noise. Everyone's making some.
      If you bolt the unit down and maybe put some rubber dampers on the pins that hold the press base it might help.

      Bolt ,or tightly clamp the unit down. The flimsy frame adds to the problem. Not trying tonbe mean, but I have been using equipment like that for 40 years.

    How easy is it to sheer on specific line?

    • @craigsmachineshop2040
      @craigsmachineshop2040  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would be hard to see a line from the front. Maybe from the back. It would probably work best with an adjustable backstop. There are threaded holes on the back for one.
