My ASUS Z370 Prime had something similar, and I had to buy the small board to take advantage of that option (only Fans, no RGB or ARGB). How you connect the 3 pin in the pc?

    • @PE4Doers
      @PE4Doers  ปีที่แล้ว

      3-pin is based on a 5volt source. It should have 2-pins, then a 3rd pin separated by a blank pin space. As long as both the connector and the fan are both 3-pin, there should be no problem. However, NEVER connect a 3-pin to a 4-pin connector - it will burn the device out, and may damage the source (motherboard or controller).

      It is an Aeolus B, by Raijintek. I bought it from NewEgg. It is only 13mm thick (about half that of a standard fan) so I use them when I need to add a fan to tight quarters in a case. The RGB is very good.

      There are ARGB Hubs that would work, however trying to wire up the 5vols would be problematic. Is there a reason you cannot connect to an empty ARGB motherboard connector? I fortunately have a low-end motherboard (with CPU) sitting on my Test Bench that comes in handy for testing things like that.

    • @PE4Doers
      @PE4Doers  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's really an entirely different technology. The color changes are communicated through the cabling based more than color and amplitude. There is a logic controller in each fan that gets a message from the ARGB motherboard connector or the ARGB controller.
      Maybe I will add a video to my schedule to go into that in all the technical details.

    • @PE4Doers
      @PE4Doers  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jurekandrzejewski6671 Actually, they are 'Daisy-Chainable', and most manufacturers provide a dual connector on each fan. The only thing you have to be careful of is the current capability of any one motherboard connector. There tends to be a limit of about 5 per ARGB header. Also, if you have an RGB controller, it allows for you to not only connect a Lot more, but unit patterns can be generated with PC software that communicates with the controller through an internal USB-2 connector.

    How much Daisy chain we can use with a 3 pin connection from motherboard?

    • @PE4Doers
      @PE4Doers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That all depends on the current draw of each device and the current output capability of the specific motherboard connection. I have safely driven four RGB fans from one, which makes sense since I estimate each drew 1/4 amp and the connector support 1 full amp.

      I assume the hub is just for the Fan power control. If so, three fans should work just fine connected to a single motherboard connector. • @PE4Doers
      @PE4Doers  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I guess the best way to look at it is how they have progressed in a technology, which affects how it should be utilized. The previous RGB was based on older tech that needed a 12 volt power supply, and was not that flexible in how it produced various colors. The newer version uses a lower voltage (5 volts), which draws less power from the system in terms of wattage (the key measurement for power use) and also has more technical capability. To differentiate the two electrically (to avoid connection mistakes) they change the number of pins on the connector which was an outcome of the new technology as well as its reduced power needs.
