Don't worry the slightest about the level of animation in these episodes Krugg, as you've already seen the world is so full of odd designs and big combats that it'd be impossible to animate everything Aecius gets into. You reading every tooltip and drawing the animals and plants based on those descriptions while on the pilgrimage without map travel is a refreshing sight, a completely different type of gameplay compared to someone like me who's been playing a lot and mostly just autoexplores smaller regions and always travels on the world map. Aecius' stare is beyond cursed, no wonder all your foes are fleeing. Also, it may be wise to find your way to more open ground if you want to make swifter progress. The canyons are winding and don't always let you progress in the direction you want. Lastly, you can swim without much issue, though be aware that not all waters are safe in the lands of Qud.
Your logic with torches is actually pretty valid, since it doesn't illuminate your surroundings by very much, so in open areas you're still very much at risk of bumping into deadly things you can't see in time. Basically torches are for when you're spelunking and have nothing better on hand to light up your surroundings. You also may want to consider keeping an eye out for a buckler so you can free up your hand slot in case you need to use a torch in the future (or one of the better light sources you can find). Also handy commands: ctrl + ` to rest until dawn and ` to rest until fully healed are super useful, the game will also interrupt either if any enemies are detected/you get shot at, etc. so don't worry about randomly dying while doing so (though it's always a good idea to do so near a screen edge/stairs to a previous floor just in case)

Doing great! Love these videos and the art. You're all good in terms of pace even if you're exploring slowly you're learning as you go which is what matters. Some various tips: - remember to change your torch out for your weapon or shield when done with it. Doing "manual equip" is more reliable - when you are on the "outskirts" of a settlement it means you're on one of the outer tiles of a city/town; it's always worth exploring to locate the center - sleeping through the night is generally advised as it's safer, but I'm just too lazy for it now that I know how to survive. Light sources are still absolutely needed for exploring ruins or underground though.
Loving the series so far! Just so you know a little more about the world map, each single tile on the world map is a 3 by 3 grid of normal maps. So for every 3 game screens you move in any direction, you move a single map tile!

I think _Caves of Qud,_ like any roguelike, is about creating your own experiences over time, so I think you're doing wonderfully! It is true that, in future playthroughs or maybe in this one after you've explored much of the map already, that you'd resort to fast travel using the world map just to get past what you've already seen, but especially for a first playthrough, this offers some of the magic that us long-time players have sort of pushed into the background in favor of other aspects of Qud's rich world and systems.
Loving this! You’re doing great. Im sure us Qud vets are here watching biting our nails, reliving those past horrible deaths we’ve all endured. Those goatfolk grenades in the flower fields can get spicy. Good luck!
You should loot every snapjaw. I never cease to be amazed with the kinds of items a simple snapjaw might have. It's not true of most enemies, but snapjaws have an uncanny knack for scavenging.
Gotta learn how to cook! It's worth the skill points! Staying by a campfire during the night is a great strategy, there is a hot key to wait until morning! Good luck!
Damn that stare❤ love your videos -Remember kuzdus can rust your weapons. -to cook you need cooking skill -if you like guns, it might be worth it to invest tinker skill that allows to craft bullets if have the recipe and materials -traveling through the overworld map is faster ( you wont miss anything by doin so + if dont have lore skills you will get lost a lot which forces you to travel your way.
Was really fun to watch 😄 Just one tip, befor our little friend Aecius enter the great salt dunes . Fill a empty waterskin with salt water or blood or slime to pour over yourself to extinguish fire when needed.
* That "outskirts of Tapad" is actually the edge of some random village, like the one you started in. Assuming it isnt abandoned, it would have its own merchants and village quest and whatnot. Might be a good place to pick up a few more bullets. * As for mutant vs. truekin, I actually feel that starting truekin is much more forgiving. You get much better starting stats and get more skill points per level. Mutants are expected to compensate with their mutant abilities, but with a random build there's a decent chance you wouldnt really have any useful ones. * And things will probably start going a lot faster when you leave the canyons and enter the desert, as it is predictably mostly flat open ground. Which can be detrimental when it comes to running away from scary things, so it's something of a risk to judge. You might consider staying on the border between the canyons and desert.
there is a fast travel system! u can move on you world map - it takes alot of water and you might lose your way, forcing you to find someone to ask for a way or travel some distance till you get your bearings. love the draving btw, makes for such immersion!

Thank you for making this video a bit earlier!
this series have inspired me to try and draw my own keep points in my own CoQ adventure
Thanks for the content Krugg! This is coming out on my birthday and feels like quite a gift.
Been loving the play through Krug. Can't wait to see how you interpret the late game in your artwork.
Loving this! You’re doing great. Im sure us Qud vets are here watching biting our nails, reliving those past horrible deaths we’ve all endured. Those goatfolk grenades in the flower fields can get spicy. Good luck!
the animations in this one are a leg up from already amazing stuff from the previous episodes
Good luck!
Damn that stare❤ love your videos
-Remember kuzdus can rust your weapons.
-to cook you need cooking skill
-if you like guns, it might be worth it to invest tinker skill that allows to craft bullets if have the recipe and materials
-traveling through the overworld map is faster ( you wont miss anything by doin so + if dont have lore skills you will get lost a lot which forces you to travel your way.
Was really fun to watch 😄 Just one tip, befor our little friend Aecius enter the great salt dunes .
Fill a empty waterskin with salt water or blood or slime to pour over yourself to extinguish fire when needed.
That menacing stare of Aecius' could scare the tusks off a two-headed boar for sure!
I loved the tortoise-"god of war punching sequence"
You really want to be fast traveling! The game is made for it, i don't think i can imagine playing the game without doing so.
Im always delighted to see a new video!
Also, i know next to nothing about Caves of Qud, and what a great way to learn a bit alongside you!
The tortoise smackdown got a good laugh out of me
really like the animated pixel art, voice acting, and the comedy on this one!
Truly magnificent work with this one Krugg
It may say as the tortoises are irritable, but between the stare and the wild rants I think Aecius is irritable too :D
