Could I Be More Lazy? Playing a Beach Bum in The Sims 4 Island Living!

  • Let's Play a Beach Bum in The Sims 4 Island Living. The Beach Life Aspiration has a "Laid Back" reward that prevents Sims from getting stressed. It's also not very hard, especially if you do it in your free time. Here's my run focusing entirely on completing the aspiration.
    This is a new type of video for me, and I've got to learn how to do these properly so bear with me. I'm sure that I can gradually improve. I'd like to show some real gameplay and not simply edited/scripted content. I'll be sure to call these Let's Plays because, well, they are. I trim the most boring and quiet bits to make it a bit more condensed. This one went from 43 minutes of play to around 27.

    Lololol when I did this it took me a week to wait for the little coconut tree in the volcano island to mature so I could harvest a couple, and you're telling me I could have purchased it on a vending machine?!!!!!!! MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!

    Your guide website has been a permanent bookmark on my computer forever. Seriously! I've always used your guides. In fact, every time a new Sims expansion comes out, I have a small panic moment thinking "what if Carl stopped doing his guides?" and then sigh out relief when I see current content. Now TH-cam?!?! For a Sims player, my life is complete. lol I am loving your videos! I love your work. So happy to see your vids on TH-cam now. Sul Sul

      Wow, thanks for all the kind words. I'm definitely likely to be around these days but it's a bit more of a load doing both the site and YT, so don't panic too much if I slow to update heh. Anyway, I'm glad you like the channel and in particular this video as it helps to know that going forward. I have about 4 styles I can use now which gives me some variety to keep this interesting.

    Carl: I disagree about the fancy trashcan. Over time, the plates you "recycle" increase in value (I think mine currently topped out at 80 simoleons per plate). I've easily pulled in 1000 simoleons cleaning up after a birthday party. Also, I rarely play a single sim, so feeding a family of 3 or more, that trashcan pays for itself in no time.

    • @ajcambern
      @ajcambern 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The value increase is based on how many sims are in your household. It's $10 per person and that includes pets.

    Weirdly, the 'gold' level kava party is probably the hardest part of the entire aspiration (and it's not THAT hard, but the time IS pretty short to do the goals). The rest is really easy. But laid back is a pretty awesome reward, considering you no longer get tense. So, if you go from beach bum to 'real day job', it can really come in handy.
    Another fantastic guide video!

      Handy yes, but redundant to the carefree aspiration reward trait, which most of my played sims already have.

    I took your advice about the Bartender career. Snaggle Fluster is a wonderful potion it inspires the sim to easily learn anything . I keep the sim's charisma down by never using friendly prompts. I have them make friends using the computer ,quite a lot. I have been using get famous to make them 4 star celebs so that they can change careers anytime after they get to level 10 . I make money and fame with painting but never enter the career. I appreciate your videos and all your hard work.

    I'd love to watch you have a lets play where you try to complete all asperations on a single sim. I've been doing it and surprisingly it takes a long time, partly due to the career asperations that require joining a specific career.
    For extra jazz, you could try to finish all careers to level 10 as well. For extra extra jazz, you could finish all the collections. For even MORE difficulty, you could start your game with 0 money. These few ideas are just ideas, but I'd love to watch a series where you try to complete all asperations :)

    I wish the Aspiration Reward did something new.
    I mean Laid Back is literally just "Carefree" from the reward store, nothing extra.
    It could've had at least something to set it apart from Carefree, like finally give non-Vampires a way to get a "No Longer Needs Fun" trait.

    • @CarlsSimGuides
      @CarlsSimGuides  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree for the most part and wish new ideas would be introduced for sure. It's pretty crazy I was able to fire up this aspiration and complete it inside 45 mins though, which is fairly rare for a brand new Sim. I'd say it's useful for a new Sim that will be working in a demanding career like Astronaut. Long shifts, Sims get burned on fun. I didn't really think of its use when recording because a lot of activities will give you fun by accident.

    thank you for captioning this as I am deaf. If your sim is strapped for cash and you cant afford to buy the grills for your home, go to the public beaches. there is one grill for each public beach.You could grill 5 times that way, put them in your inventory then hurry home and place them in your refrigerator. The better grill is in the public San Simoleon Beach. Also check the curve west to that beach It is one of the few places in Sulani where you can actually see seashells in the sand. it wont help you with your aspiration though but it counts for the curator aspiration first level.

Doing an LP of that would be fun for us to watch, and then you could use some clips to use for a short explanation video. Also you included a few tiny tips and tricks by explaining the causal relationships, like how you mentioned getting energized slows fatigue. People might not know all these little things, like how pregnancy slows ageing etc. Your LPs could be chock full of those little tidbits :)

      @@CarlsSimGuides yes, the Nano gives $70 per item in a full household. Because a full house generates a LOT of plates, you can pay for the thing in no time. Also, even if you don't have that many in the household, just having a party and serving dinner, drinks and dessert will easily pay for the thing!

    This is a great aspiration because sims become tense whenever you go to school or work and work hard.

    • @CarlsSimGuides
      @CarlsSimGuides  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep you nailed it. I think I am going to take this Sim into a career in another video and make heavy use of that, while also making sure people realize the mistake I made by omitting it. I think was too glad I got it all in 1 decent take and quit a bit early (says the guy with 27 min video).

      @@CarlsSimGuides As always I enjoyed the video. And like you say there is always something new to learn for all of us. All my sims get a vacation for a week now before starting work. Haha

    • @meeyersprezz
      @meeyersprezz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That might be useful. Every time my Sims leaves work SHE ALWAYS gets the “Needs a Vacation” moodlet and it’s annoying.

    I use the nano trashcan because it's hard to have my sim go into my slave basement and grab the trash.

    Never get tense? That's the "carefree" trait you evangelized in your super sim guide. I'm surprised you did not get surprised when you got it here. If only I had known before, I just started a Sulani family and spent 3000 points when I could have done this beach bum thing instead!

    "never become tense" is... isnt there already a perk that does that?

    • @heyy_trixxy
      @heyy_trixxy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah the "carefree" reward trait already does this, but it costs 3,000 satisfaction points.

    In order to apply sun protection you click on the object you are laying on or the sim, cant remember which, and it will give you the option.

    I had no idae you had a youtube channel. ive been using Carl's sim guides the website since I was a kid playing sims 3 for the first time. you're basically a household name for my family haha as we used to all be simmers growing up (but now im the only one tbh). I remember looking up how to become a mummy when that expansion came out and misunderstood, my sim died of the mummies curse after two weeks XD

    When beachcombing you can usually let it go and they will keep beachcombing for a while. (I don't use mods)
