SILVER OR GOLD? Breaking down what to buy depending on your budget!

  • Silver or gold? That’s the question I get asked almost every day. And in this video, I’m going to give you a detailed breakdown on what to buy depending on your budget. I’m talking a percentage split between physical silver and gold that you should buy. I’m not going to get into the specific types of silver and gold, but I will mention a few that I think make a lot of sense (especially with gold). I first give some important gold and silver stacking assumptions and discuss the stacking "extremes" by both silver bugs and gold bugs. I then break down what type of precious metals to purchase by those who have less than $1,000; those who have between $1,000 and $5,000; gold and silver stackers with $5,000 - $25,000, $25,000 - $50,000, $50,000 - $100,000; and finally, those with over $100,000.

@@YankeeStacking New to the channel, but I just noticed that this hand logo with the coin in the middle is like 666. Same gesture the elite like to do and some similar logos of major brands like google chrome or Cern. Anyone told you that ? Weird coincidence i guess 😅
By the way, i suspect the system of the % in the video is valid for countries with lower TAX, correct ? For example in Spain the tax is 21% vs the 5-8% of the US. So that means that if you buy 1kg silver bar, that will cost you 1000 euros tax included(that is the actual price today), but if for some stupid reason you decide to sell it soon, you will only get back in return 550 euros. Gold on the other hand is TAX free thank God (in Spain). So in such a situation, does that mean that spending lets say 1000 euros is actually better spend on gold than on silver ?

Best thing I’ve ever done was start stacking. It’s not only fun you aren’t buying stupid items just to fulfill your “shopping” needs or buy something for fun that will last a day or a month. This you will always have and it’s almost like an unintentional savings account. You are always sitting pretty with some physical gold or silver

I'm lucky I guess. I've always collected 1964 and older coin since I was in my 20's where ever I cam across them. About 6 years ago, I sold my truck and already had enough guitars and amps. I decided to put that cash into metals. When I actually started "stacking", silver eagles were $2.50-$4.00 above spot. Tubes for usually less than $400.00 per tube and generic were about $.50 above spot. I haven't alot of metals stacked, but at the prices I'm seeing today, I've easily doubled what I had payed. I more than likely will not sell for paper Fiat money, but maybe down the road I'll trade metals for properties or even an old classic motorcycle? Right now, it will be handed down to my children. Really cool to look at and know that it will always be real money and have a reasonable purchasing power. I wish I had more fake fiat cash to add to what I have. My goal is 1000 oz of silver and 10 oz of gold. I'm a long way away, but get to add here and there. Hopefully I'll meet that goal in the next ten years! Great video....get Tim back in there. Love to hear his perspective on the situations at hand now!

Just started stacking about a month ago and have 200 oz (about 6.2 kilo) of silver. I caught the fever and used some extra fiat I had laying around to buy a lot. Cost average of about $28.75/oz. Now I will work on the 1oz gold buy probably a Britannia or Philharmonics because of less cost. Thanks Yankee for the breakdown. Looking forward to our next chat!

If you plan on traveling with gold go with 24k otherwise 22k is fine, there is still 1 troy oz of pure gold. Just some countries will tax 22k gold but gold buffs are not fractional so eagles are great if you stay in the states, not everyone can just get 24k. Really get a mix of 22k and 24k if you live in the states, if you dont plan on moving over sea anyhow, why would you keep your gold far from you, plus depending on where and how you ship your gold around you could loose it all anyhow, ive heard that plenty of nations will take it out of your bags or person and you will never see it again, so if you never plan to leave the states eagles are the way to go if you cant buy more than an oz at a time, that being said if you can buy an ounce at a time swich between buffs and eagles, them buffs look super precious haha, i wish they had quarter buffs

I'm a student with little disposable income, only about $80 per month, to spend on metals. As such, I'm only buying silver and not even thinking about gold until I graduate and start earning a proper salary. Plus, I'm only 23 so have a long time-horizon for holding my silver for good "dollar cost averaging" and hopefully growth over time given how clearly undervalued silver is with the GSR at 85! Will probably go for gold and balance out the stack by trading in some silver, but buying fractional gold with the premiums how they are doesn't make sense. Plus, with not having much to spend at a time, buying a 10oz silver bar is much more satisfying than a 2.5g bar of gold that I can barely feel in my hand! So glad I'm lucky enough to have resources like Yankee Stacking at my fingertips so I can start now and have hopefully just as much metal as Yankee someday when I'm in my 30's too 😜😂⭐️

Another great video. Just started staking a few weeks ago and you’re videos have been so helpful. Part of my income comes from cash every week and I’ve been buying silver and gold instead of putting it into a savings account. Up to 37 ounces of silver and 8 grams of gold in 3 weeks. Definitely made some questionable purchases before doing my due diligence. Been sticking with generic 1 oz buffaloes and picking up some sovereigns if the price is right. Been debating about selling off some of my crypto that earns me interest but havnt been able to convince myself it’s the right move as I don’t necessarily need the cash to make purchases of silver. Plus the less paper trail of where my money is going the better.

Thanks for this excellent video. It simplifies and gives a reasonable range for stackers.
Nobody wants to buy an armored Ford F350 pickup to haul a hardened trailer if they need to quickly move with their silver. Or to defend it anywhere. Without private security. My wife and I and my 2 Adult Sons are all of the private security I've got. John Rubino's advice about community is excellent.
It's easier for some people than others. For people, like me and my wife who moved ~6-7 times each from K-12. From East coast to West coast...to Europe. It's not quite so easy. College for me went from NW Oregon to 4yrs of school in SoCal to 3yrs training in South Texas. Working in Colorado Springs and Denver CO to the High Plains of Texas. It's hard to have a deep cultural tribe of trust with a life like that. It would have been possible until the late summer of 2001.
After that FF. I don't think it's possible.

In consideration to the budget of course because that was a good break down, thanks Yankee.

I found one, but he mainly deals in old currency. Anything from Roman, over medieval to the old 5-Deutsche Mark coin, also known as the 'Silberadler', which was in circulation from 1951 and got pulled out of circulation in 1974, due to the 7 grams of silver in 21 grams of .. I can't remember what other metal. For me these 5-DM coins are more of a sentimental value, because I remember them in circulation. I worked out today that the silver content of one 5 DM is today over £4. So they haven't performed too badly and I feel they're inflation-resistant 🙂

I like a GSR of 1:20. Because the planet tells me it’s the way. Depends on the individual really. Why are you stacking and for what purpose? I use it as a store of value and also denominate it 1:20 in case of the unfortunate need to use it as barter. Funny enough it’s actually really easy to denominate in this manner at any buy in price according to the weights sold on market. Currently as I type this, you can buy a 1/20th Toz gold and 1 Toz of silver for around $200. Gold is great until you need to buy a meal, then it is excessive.

Hello, Yankee Stacking. I had a brilliant idea. Remember this old thing.. 'my weight in gold'? ;-) So, I bought myself some scales for people last January and I nearly fell into shock. It settled on 92 kilos (damn these lockdowns). 92 kilos in gold, I knew was unachievable. So I did the next most logical thing and started to eat more healthy again and went out for walks. Since I do that the cost for my weight in gold is no longer in danger of inflation 🙂it's actually coming down 🙂 . But this I found a bit boring and even at my ideal weight of 58 kilos unrealistic. So I measured myself. Not that I don't know my height, but I'm 58 and they say that older people tend to shrink. I'm still 158 centimetres and I therefore started buying gold coins and bars and I place them in a line, lie down next to them and then I know many I need 🙂 I didn't add necklace and bracelet, for that would be cheating 🙂
But seriously, around that I set my target. First achieve the height, then I see further and all that with as little stress as possible. I also own shares in fossil fuel companies (because I'm convinced that green energy only won't work), in food producing companies and in entertainment companies. Logic tells me to invest also into pharma- and military hardware companies, but I just can't get myself to do that.

I completely understand the concept of buying a 1/4 ounce gold Maple, ect. and not the smaller fractional sizes. However, I love gold and cannot afford to buy the 1/4 ounce or higher gold coins. Having said this, I have purchased a 1/4 ounce Austrian, a $10 gold eagle, five 1/10 ounce gold Eagles, 1/10 ounce Britannia, 1/10 ounce Panda , a 5 Gram bar, a 10 gram bar, and a 2.5 gram bar. Glad I have them and total weight is just shy of 2 troy ounces of gold. This past weekend I finally achieved my goal of stacking 100 troy ounces of silver. Stack on!👍

What follows isn't advice. Continuing education about the functions of gold, silver and fiat, as well as self-reliance have been priceless. I prioritize bills, debt payment, food prep, silver savings, gold wealth, emergency fiat, and freedom seeds. Everybody has a different perspective; I just think it's wise to continuously study and plan.

Im stacking for the long term, so im planning on selling, but i just like more and more silver, and some gold, hell ive woken up and thought im going to get up and get like 5 oz of silver, now mind you i know im not going to lose out in the long run, and i do have some in stocks, and some in high yield cds, i also have standard liquid savings, and i dont really touch that except in an emergency, but sometimes after paying my rent and bills out of the way, and after i give my weekly limit, or sometimesi waitbfor a month or 2 to get a bigger chunk, but that leaves me with what i call my weekly fun money. This is were my problem lies, ill buy my metals already, then i want more, then sometimes i do get more, but then it starts cutting into my fun money, thats what i call a problem, i mean i guess not really because the most important money for the week, month, year, and long term is paid, but then things like eating out and going to movies or vacation can be hindered with an unheathy urge to buy more metal haha, sometimes it takes me hours of the day to talk myself down from buying more, i think in part because i can walk to my coin shop in 10 mins, or drive there in 2 or less. Sometimes fiat is better to have in the short term because of its liquidity

Great advice! I’m a bit more aggressive than Yankee when it comes to silver. I think it’s important to lock away at least 500 ounces of silver coinage for bartering purposes before dipping into gold. My percentages (given the current 80/1 GSR) are:
    Less $1K - 100% Silver
    $1K - $5K - 100% Silver
    $5K - $25K - 80% Silver
    $25K - $50K - 75% Silver
    $50K - $100K - 60% Silver
    $100K -$250K - 50% Gold
    $250K - $500K - 70% Gold

As a Brit it can only be gold for me as I refuse to pay the 20% value added tax on silver. The Royal Mint in the UK pays 96% of the spot value of gold when selling back, but only 76% on silver. We can get round the VAT by having the silver stored in a vault abroad, but I don't want to do that. I want to see and touch my silver and hear it clanking together in my own hands, lol. It's frustrating that people outside the UK can buy silver Britannias cheaper than we can. I really would love to have some silver, but I loath the idea of paying even more tax.

The 20 francs costs only 65 euros per gram and one coin costs 370 euros. Do you think it's better buying one franc gold every month or 10 oz of silver maples every month?

This all depends heavily on your age. If you're over 50, you need to weight yourself much heavier in Gold, until by the time you reach 62 to 65, about 90% of what you spend of your fiat currency on metals should be spent on Gold. Silver buying is mostly for the young. Once you have 1,500 to 3,000 ounces of Silver, you should focus almost exclusively on Gold.

Spot went up and premiums too. You speak as if whoever buys fractionals, have to sell it to a pawn shop for spot. Thats not the case anymore. There are so many ways to sell and get your premium back.

@@painmt651 fomo is real and gets us all, especially when we are new, but i do think since the price is regulated by the paper market, it will come down again this fall. When the stock market crashes, metals are in the market, now premiums may be higher, but i think there will be a buyer opportunity then.
