As a film maker, I do not rely on autofocus. If ever. I'm still getting the Viltrox so I can use Canon lenses on my GH5 and GH5s. If I get the new Blackmagic 4K camera, I'll be able to use it there as well. Thanks for the update. It's always good to update firmware.
Hi! I bought a Viltrox Mount Adapter EF-M2 II 0.71x and when I connect it with my G80 I can see on my screen that lens attachment failed. I tried every firmware available and it still doesn't work. What should I do?
Maybe i'm out of the loop, but i've been filming for 2 decades, and have never relied on Autofocus, as even the best autofocus screws up and ruins shots. Is everyone just a Vlogger now? Is that why we can't take the time to prep our shots? This is a miracle product for anyone making movies on a budget. Set your focus in Manual or have someone behind the camera. Anyone making a professional product shouldn't be relying on even the best autofocus.
The garbage autofocus with the GH5 is a big point of contention among the community that purchased it, mainly the prosumers, so when anything has a chance of improving it, people are really curious about it. The viltrox is a relatively new adapter and there's not a lot of info on it other than the few videos that are on youtube now, as well as this one showing how to update the firmware. To address your main point.. I still film 99% of my videos in manual, but sometimes it's hard because I'm a one man show.
The piss-poor continuous autofocus performance (video and stills) on the Lumix side is what has kept me with Olympus. I do have a G85, but it has been relegated to backup or B camera status behind my OM-D E-M1 Mark II.

Thanks for trying! Luckily for me I intentionally bought the GH5 as purely a camera to be used in manual. Therefore I am not continually hoping for improvements to a focussing system that does not work consistently or smoothly enough for my purposes to be anywhere usable!
Hi, I had a problem after updating the adapter... I forget to detach the lens before updating but I don't know if its part of the problem. Now when I'm manual focusing with my G7 with the 50mm 1.8 Canon which was attached during the update I can't know if I'm focusing close of far: the indicator with the mountain and the flower is stuck. I tried to get back on the older version of the firmware but nothing has changed heaven when I restored default factory settings on the camera. Maybe I damaged the electronic of the lens? I still can manage the aperture and focus but I don't have the indicator anymore. Do you know any solution?
I just purchased the GH5 mark 2 yesterday and I’m returning it because of this very reason. I bought it to use with the viltrox and the sigma 18-35 and no matter how I put the settings the autofocus was terrible so much so that my lumix G7 auto-focused better than the mark 2. I wish Panasonic would incorporate Canons multi pixel autofocus into there cameras because that would be a game changer.
Hi Tommy! I used the Viltrox and canon 70-200 f4 mounted on my GH5, but when I when I'm on the modes A, S or M the screen won't show my adjustments (aperture or shutter speed). And after I take the photo when I want to see it, it says "this motion image cannot be played". Do you know why?

The Voltrox ef-m2 mount doesn't show up when I plug it in via USB.. I tried 3 different cables incase one was broken (but they're all new).. any suggestions? also, my55-250mm Canon lens doesn't fit (but my 50mm does).. any work arounds for this?
Diego Herman try installing the firmware update for Sigma 18-35. It was released separately. Also when you attach the lens and booster to the camera, make sure the camera is switched off.

@@harshadambokar9205 I was talking about Bmpcc4k +viltrox efm2 and Canon L 70-200mm is f2.8. You have to downgrade the firmware of the viltrox efm2 speedbooster. Then the IS from the lens will work.

Hi Tommy, I'm having serious AF issues with the same setup GH-5, Viltrox EF-M2, Sigma 18-35ART and I am wondering if anyone can confirm. I'm on the latest firmware now. Here's the problem: When I am on the widest angle/shortest length (18mm) and try to focus something beyond a few meters (normally simlpy using the far point) the lens doesn't focus at all. It seems as if the lens just would not go up to it's maximum focal distance. Only when I zoom in a bit, to let's guess 23mm, I am able to focus properly. I can try this only in MF mode, as the AF has the same problem, and therefore doesn't find any proper focus at all when fully zoomed out. On the other hand, once I am zoomed in at let's say 35mm, the lens goes beyond it's far point ans nothing at all is in focus. Only when I manually correct the focus by hand, which is really fiddly I am able to focus on the far point. So, is the lens broken or either the camera, it's settings or the Viltrox adapter responsible for this bullsh...? and can you reproduce that? Cheers S.
I’m having the same issue smh 🤦🏽♂️ that’s why I’m sending mine back to get the canon 90D instead. The canon 90D is the best camera to use the sigma 18-35 mm because of its dual pixel autofocus it catches focus smoothly and in a real nice cinematic type of way.
Question? Do manual lenses work with this adapter? I have tried to use a Rokinon 85mm manual lens with the Viltrox adapter and the GH5 but it keeps saying the "lens isn't attached properly." Any feedback on that would be greatly appreciated.

Let me know if IBIS still works for you when you upgrade to firmware 3.0. It doesn't seem to work on that which is a bummer. But the problem with the older firmware is that my canon 50mm STM lens can't manual focus on it.

Would you care to check if it works any better in other AF modes? In GH5's early months it had been established that the face-tracking mode is one of the worst of the bunch (until a firmware update came along).

The EF-150d is the Jinbei light - it’s fantastic, bright as heck and comes with a battery for portable use. Can’t use V-mount batteries though, which is really the only downside.

I own this Viltrox EF-M2 and Sigma 18-35. recently start using this on my GH5 and when I record footage on AFS/AFF mode or AFC mode the Sigma 18 35 is making this buzzin when change to focus distances. This only stops when I change the fucus setting to MF.... Any advice from anyone... ? Thanks so much

Tommy. What focal length camera setting do you use for the 18-35? Does the Viltrox require it be reset every time you zoom, or does it communicate this accurately to the camera as you're zooming?

i have the same config ( viltrox / sigma 18 35 / gh5) but when I use sigma in 18mm only can i focus nearly. large view dident focus.

I think the G85 is an awesome camera for video. I’ve never used the SL2 though so I can’t help you there.

Just drop the firmware file to the adapter, if it's on the older FW it will just update.

There’s no program you need to upload the software. You just drag it into the device like a usb drive.
