  • Today I do a review of some silk PLA that I bought made by Fiberlogy. This was my first time using a silk filament and I was not disappointed. This stuff is truly fascinating and creates a beautiful finish. It's well worth a try if you've never experienced it.

I agree, Fiberlogy to me is up there with Polymaker as the best filament makers, but their spools are ridiculous....please give me cardboard spools! At least they will sell refills for some of their filament.

Yeah the more I print the more I want cardboard spools.

how strong is this pla compared to regular pla? any layer adhesion issues?

No layer adhesion problem it prints really well and holds together nicely. It's not as stiff as regular PLA. It seems to flex a bit easier, so not too good for structural items. It's strong enough that my kids haven't broken the robot...yet😅

Can you comment the print settings you use for this filament?

225c nozzle, 60c bed, 0.2 layer height, 50mm/s print speed (but walls and other speeds are half that automatically in Cura) and a 15mm/s first layer speed to make a good stick to the bed. The rest would be printer dependent. Like retractions for example.
