    Sorry for the misspelling, should have read "Stringing Guidelines" not "Stinging Guidelines."

    One of the best videos on stringing I’ve found! It was succinct, clear, and full of useful information. It answered my questions on how my daughter’s racket should be strung and when she should consider transitioning to the next level of stringing. Thank you!

      Aloha Cespal1, Thank you for finding my video and my channel! I'm glad to hear that this will be useful for your daughter. If you want a printed copy of the guidelines, please email me at amstringing@gmail.com. I made some revisions after I posted this video . . . other than correcting the misspelled "Stringing." Mahalo!

    Appreciate the guidance as interesting stuff so thanks for the post. I played a Wilson Pro Staff 85 (16X19) for 20+ years originally starting w/Prince Pro Blend then to Gut then to NXT Comfort. I changed to a Head Pro Tour 2.0 last summer (18X20) w/95 head size & have been experimenting w/some multi/poly hybrid setups. Curently have X-One Biphase 16G in the M's @ 50 lbs. & TF Pro Red Code 17G in the X's @ 44 lbs. & feels pretty good so far. w/good control. I'm a little uncertain when to restring w/the poly in the X's since those lose tension faster than the multi's so will prolly do so maybe no later than 3-4 weeks I guess (as generally play singles 4-5 times a week).

      Aloha, I'm glad you liked the content! Wow, going from ProBlend to natural gut . . . that's quite extreme!
      Your setup sounds great! As I mentioned, I like the synthetic mains better in a hybrid setup. The thicker gauge in the mains works well too!
      If you can afford to restring every 4 weeks, that would good. Otherwise, no longer than 8 weeks.

      @@AMstringing Yeah, back in the day (for a while) Pro Blend was pretty popular, ha ha. Also wanted to say thanks for the tip on the mini clothes pins for clamps tension monitoring & starting clamp next to that initial fixed clamp for the 1st pull on NEOS 1000 as tried both of those & will stick with them as both were very effective.

      @@AMstringing Next string order I'll give the Prince Lightning Pro 16G & Prince Tour XP 17G a try in a hybrid setup as the specs look pretty interesting on both of those. Maybe try a 56M (Lightning) & 52X (Tour XP) tension setup in my PT2 or would you suggest (tension lbs.) otherwise based on your experience with those strings?

    • @AMstringing
      @AMstringing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vnishpt7036 I would suggest you go with the tension you normally play with, then assess if you want to adjust up or down in tension. I always recommend adjusting in either direction by a 4-pound increment, to really "feel" the difference. Then if you're not quite sure, you can split it halfway by a 2-pound increment.

    aloha albert. you sent me a copy of your stringing guidelines matrix. thank you, i appreciate that. most of my time is spent on the court teaching or coaching juniors and teens. i use plain synthetic gut which is fine for feeding balls. on occasion i play social doubles (4.0-4.5). ive been tempted to try your level 2, but if i understand correctly, poly or co-poly strings main function is for string breakage. my current setup is head graphene xt speed s with gosen og sheep, 17 or 18g @ 45#. i rarely break strings and my swing is medium speed. what would you recommend?

    • @AMstringing
      @AMstringing  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Aloha Coach Dudley,
      Nice to hear you want to experiment with your string setup!
      Yes, you are correct that the polyester string's main role in the #3 setup is for durability and control to some degree. However, I want to reassure you that the #2 setup, with its softer string in the mains and stiffer string in the crosses, can offer a significant boost in feel, power, and spin potential. This setup is also effective with natural gut mains and polyester crosses.
      Since you're at 45 pounds with a full bed of synthetic gut, here's where I recommend you start your hybrid journey.
      Mains - Gosen OG Sheep 1.25mm at 45 pounds
      Crosses - *Yonex Poly Tour Pro or Head Hawk Touch 1.20mm at 43 pounds
      * NOTE - If you can't get these strings,use a round polyester in 1.20mm. If you can't get 1.20mm gauge, then use 1.25mm.
      I hope this helps! 🤙

    Like all your videos, this was very well done. Thank you. I use 18ga Volkl Cyclone Tour Red at 40# which has a stiffness rating comparable to most multis. Aside from tension loss %, would you consider this string as 'arm friendly' as a multi with similar stiffness rating, or would the multi be more 'arm friendly' by the fact that it's a multi?

    • @AMstringing
      @AMstringing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aloha James, You're welcome! Good question. In my opinion, I would have to go with the multi by the fact it's a multi. Although the initial stiffness rating may be comparable in lab tests, I believe after use, the poly will feel less comfortable because of its natural loss of tension. Whereas the multi will feel more comfortable because of its ability to retain tension and resilience over a longer period.

    What are your thought on multifiliment strings? Where do they fit in do you use them in hybrid or are they best in a full bed?

    • @AMstringing
      @AMstringing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aloha John,
      In my opinion, multifilament strings play well as a full-bed setup that offers nice comfort and easy power. Therefore, it would fit in the Level #1 category along with Synthetic Gut.
      However, in a hybrid setup, a multifilament would not be my first choice due to the natural "fraying" properties of its string construction. As the string filament frays, in my experience, the interaction of the mains and crosses (snapback) decreases with wear and tear. In fact, you may notice that the strings will appear to get stuck and remain crooked.
      Anyway, that's my two cents! Great question :)

    Hi. Great video! I currently have tennis elbow. I use a softer Poly in the mains, Toroline Wasabi at 48 and Velocity MLT a stiffer multi in the crosses at 50. I have a 18x20 string bed and both are 17g. Since I am not a string breaker, I was thinking of putting the Velocity in the mains and the poly in the cross. I’m assuming this would help with comfort but will the spin be as good? I think the 18x20 bed helps with control anyway. Thank you. Also, instead of Velocity, I was thinking of trying Gosen AK Pro CX. Looks even better than velocity.

      Aloha Ryan,
      I'm happy you found this video since it is relevant to your situation.
      By installing the softer strings (as opposed to the stiffer polyester) on the mains, you'll notice that the snapback is better. This is the #2 Hybrid (syn/poly) string setup in this video.
      In my opinion, the Velocity felt softer than the AK Pro CX. It also has a higher Spin Potential rating according to Tennis Warehouse University. It might be interesting for you to try both strings side by side in your own playtest.

    when would you recommend natural gut over synth/multis?

    • @AMstringing
      @AMstringing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Aloha,
      Good question since I didn't address it in this video.
      Natural gut is unmatched in terms of tension maintenance, comfort, and feel. If you can afford the price of natural gut (about 2/3 times the cost), it's worth trying, especially if you're not a string breaker. It's an excellent string if you have arm issues too.
      Beware, if you end up liking it, it's an expensive habit that may be hard to break. 😉
