    Nice no-nonsense review. I wonder if the nib will loosen up after being used for a couple of weeks.

      Thanks! Do you mean with the amount of flex?

    • @jimkrieger776
      @jimkrieger776 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes. @@ForTheLoveOfPens Some nibs seem to get softer and write a little better as they are used. Not all, but--in my experience--many.

      @@jimkrieger776I have occasionally seen that as well. However, from what I've read most people describe Sailor nibs as stiffer than the average gold nib. If I see any change, I'll be sure to note it here. I prefer some bounce, so I hope it does, but I don't expect much change.

    Never considered this pen. I have the 1911L and the King of Pen. I like the idea of eyedropper the pen. I did it once with the King of Pen and it behaved nicely. I think it is because the section threads are gold plated with minimal corrosion possibility.

    • @ForTheLoveOfPens
      @ForTheLoveOfPens  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like a nice collection! The gold plating should give some protection, but resin is more durable for long term use.

    It is between this pen and a Pilot Heritage 91. The Sailor is 120€, the Pilot 150€. I like both in design, maybe prefer the Pilot a bit. Is it really worth the extra money for the Pilot nib? Would love to hear some feedback from people that might have some experience with both!

      @@trulsdirio I wouldn’t say Pilot nibs are unquestionably better than Sailor’s. Pilot nibs tend to be smoother, slightly softer, and have a larger range of tipping sizes. If you prefer extra feedback and stiffer nibs, you’ll probably prefer Sailor.

    The cap liner popping out isn't a defect. With a good bump or fat tissue roll, you can get the cap liner out. It's meant to be removable so you can give the cap liner a better cleaning should ink get trapped inside.

    • @ForTheLoveOfPens
      @ForTheLoveOfPens  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for confirming! I do appreciate being able to remove the cap liner, but for me it comes out a little too easily.

    • @stimpunk
      @stimpunk ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ForTheLoveOfPens Maybe you could "fatten up" the cap liner by expanding its wall with tissue stuffing, before you install it back into the cap. I have checked mine, it doesn't pop out as easily as yours.

    • @ForTheLoveOfPens
      @ForTheLoveOfPens  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stimpunk thanks for the suggestion! I was also considering building up a layer of glue around the outside. But I’m hesitant to wreck the liner.

    • @stimpunk
      @stimpunk ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ForTheLoveOfPens Yeah, don't do that. I think fattening up the cap liner wall with the stuffing of tissue paper and warming with a hairdryer as you do so would suffice. That's what I did with my other Pro Gear Large's cap liner, as it's looser fitting than my Pro Gear Slim's. Could be due to the cap liner plastic shrinkage.

    • @ForTheLoveOfPens
      @ForTheLoveOfPens  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stimpunk That's a good idea! I agree with you, perhaps the liner was assembled into the cap while it was still cooling. That or it's a tolerance stack up issue, and I'm just one of the unlucky ones.

    Is it good for 85 USD ? Fine nib...

    Now that it’s been a while, how are you liking this?

    • @ForTheLoveOfPens
      @ForTheLoveOfPens  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Let’s put it this way, it’s no longer in my collection. I was really impressed with the finish, the nib and feel in the hand. Also the value is unprecedented. But I was too turned off by the liner falling out to keep it.

    • @jeffreyepiscopo
      @jeffreyepiscopo 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ForTheLoveOfPens that’s a bummer! I’ve been looking at it as it seems like a nice option for around $60, but the liner definitely seems like a problem. Would you say the way it writes is better than other $60ish pens?

    • @ForTheLoveOfPens
      @ForTheLoveOfPens  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jeffreyepiscopo writing quality is really subjective. It depends on your writing angle, letter size and how much feedback you want. In my opinion, the broad nib writes as well as any pen I’ve tried under $300

    Did you check the rotation when putting the nib back in? There’s a notch that lines up with the feed lol it looked like you grabbed it and shoved it in.

    • @ForTheLoveOfPens
      @ForTheLoveOfPens  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do you mean the rotation of the feed into the section? I pointed out a rib towards the back of the feed that shows where the nib should be placed.

    how tf is a gold nib entry level....? 🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨

      I know it sounds like an oxymoron…Entry level gold nib meaning the lowest price bracket for pens with gold nibs.
