- This technique is so simple anyone can do it! The magic effects you get with cling wrap ( or plastic wrap, Saran Wrap, glad wrap, kitchen wrap ) when used with a Watercolor wash are sensational!
Making Watercolor cards is easy using the cling wrap method.
Supplies used:
Canson XL Watercolor pad 9” x 12” 300 gsm
Watercolor paints of your choice ( I used Daniel Smith 24 half pans).
Plastic wrap or cling wrap
A large wash brush, mop or round brush ( I used Arches number 10 round)
Chux Magic Eraser
QZ Masking tape from the dollar store
Die cuts of your choice ( I used the thank you die from Cardmakingmagicdesigns.co.uk
And the Lily die from Kaisercraft )
The Daniel Smith Colors were Pyrrol Scarlet, Phthalo Blue, Cobalt Turquoise, Hansa Yellow Light
Ultramarine Blue
Fine tip glue from Stampinup Crystal gems from the dollar store
26 pack of coloured envelopes from Officeworks

Very pretty! Love the technique, thanks! I think if I did this I would love to do the die cuts with dark blue and white and offset them so they pop a little more! Love it!
Thank you so much. What a great idea to offset the diecuts! That would look amazing. 🫶🏻👩🏻🎨🎨💐

Thanks for subbing!❤
Thanks for sharing. They are very nice.well done
Glad you like them! 🫶🏻❤️
Thank you for this they’re absolutely beautiful . One question can you do this texture in Christmas cards too , I make my own cards so it would be nice to do something totally different to what I’m use too . You’re so inspiring. Watching from United Kingdom 🇬🇧
Yes, absolutely. You could use a Christmas Greeting Stamp or die cut on the front of the card, or stamp a Christmas greeting inside the cards. I love using heat set embossing powder and a Christmas greeting stamp straight over the watercolor . It works! Black or white would be my choices.
Cannot wait to try this!
So glad you’re giving it a go! ❤
Beautiful cards! Thank you!
Glad you like them!❤

Thank you Irene. 🙂
I watched because I was so curious. Magic is the word. It's trippy and wonderful. Love from Boston MA. 🪅 I don't know what this symbol means but it's really pretty.
Thank you so much. I’ve been to Boston , it’s a beautiful city. 🫶🏻🌟❤️
Beautiful work!
Thank you! Cheers!❤
Thank you so much for this! They are beautiful! Did you buy the envelopes the same size? I don't want to have to make envelopes. Would this technique work with 'cardstock' cards and matching envelopes (so I don't have to size cards and make envelopes) or is the cardstock to thin?
These are great questions…. 🙂I would recommend buying your envelopes first, then cut your cards slightly smaller than the envelope so they fit inside. Make your cards from watercolour paper, card stock won’t be sturdy enough to take so much water. I like Canson XL watercolour pads, they are easy to find , there’s a link in the description. You can create a nice, crisp fold on your cards using the edge of some scissors if you don’t have a bone folder or scoring tool. Make sure to leave the cling film on overnight. Have fun! 🫶🏻🙌
So glad I saw this video. I think I am going to try this and perhaps use metallic watercolor inks.
Go for it!❤
Ooh, that’s an awesome idea. I bet they’ll look great. ❤
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you. 🫶🏻
Absolutely beautiful technique. Just discovered your channel. I love the glad wrap idea
Thank you so much.
So glad you found me. ❤Thsnk you. 🫶🏻
Well! How lovely are they. I'm not at all artistic but I'm going to give this a go. Thanks for the great tutorial, I'm subscribing! Love from Denise in England 😊
Have fun!Thanks for subscribing ❤
I find an exact o knife works best for lifting and applying the bling🙂
Ooh, that’s a great tip! I won’t have such butter fingers. LOL ❤
Beautiful, thanks for sharing. What is the name of the small die cut instrument you used? The large ones I see in craft stores are too large & expensive. Also, can any brand of design or stencil be used with it? I look forward to other videos
The die cutting machine is a sizzix big shot . So glad you enjoyed the video. ❤
Can you give me title or link to the other video you mentioned about ways to use die cuts please as I can’t find it . New subscriber .
Thank you so much. “10 New and Creative Ways to Use Die Cuts “ is the title of the other video. Enjoy! 🫶🏻🌟
Wow amazing ❤can you mention the name of machine you have used in cutting the thank you and lily?
It’s a manual die cut machine from Sizzix called a Big Shot. 🌟
Curious to know what the machine you used to do the cut outs is, can you help ?
Thank you
Very beautiful cards and a great video..thank you
Yes, thank you, the machine is a Big Shot die cutting machine from Sizzix. 🫶🏻🌟✂️
@@VickiParfenow thank you
Could also ad a white or black stencil?
The white might be too stark against the frame, but I LOVE the idea of a black stencil. ❤
Can you do the same with watercolor pencils?
Most water based media should give you a result….crayons, markers, Watercolor pencils.
As long as you use Watercolor paper, and have a wet, highly pigmented consistency, then leave overnight to dry. 🙂
I'm a demonstrator
🙂Oooh, that’s great! I started my stamping journey as a demonstrator 13 years ago and made so many wonderful friends and learned so many techniques that I decided to start my TH-cam Channel. Stamping led me to print making and stamp carving and all things mixed media. I wish you much happiness on your journey. ❤️
The dollar store ?
Dollar Tree in the US , crazy bargains in Australia, not sure what the bargain stores are called in the UK. 😄🎅🏼🎄
