- Kinetic Wall is a temporary interactive and kinetic installation designed for the 88th Geneva International Motor Show in 2018. Teaming up with our partners, we created an innovative and engaging experience to unveil the new Spanish firm model: the Ateca.
In a digital installations crowd, this piece of kinetic art brought Cupra booth to life and became a real attraction among the other Motor Show's activations.
Whether no one was standing in front of the facade, the installation performed a set of pre-programmed choreographies showing the media's expressive potential. Whenever a person approached the wall, it turned interactive and reacted, opening see-through "portholes" to unveil the car behind.
The wall moved thanks to 139 stepper motors and custom-designed motion controllers hidden into the frame. People's actions were detected by two Kinect sensors placed at the top of the facade; all the images were collected and computed in real time to allow lag-less responsiveness.

Let me reiterate. This is the future that became present. Parametric architecture is exactly this. There's nothing more to add. The actuators, the classical grasshopper approach of attractors, the coordination and servomechanisms are all in this tiny wall. These are sun regulators. It can get more interesting with double skins with these treatments and materials. The prototype opens a new road ahead for thermal parametric modular architecture. It can be rigid or dynamic. It can be static or mechanized. Either way the technology is there and available in simple gestures.
I'm lucky that I found Leva. I'm deeply interested in projects like this.
Your comment makes me think this is a scam. 🤔
WOW, REALLY... WOW. I would have stayed all day in front of it, it's wonderful. Thanks
that is so simple yet so incredibly mesmerizing
Fantastic design!!! More applications please :)
That would be cool to use as curtains in your home
amazing!!!
Amazing
Wow! Que fascinante...
This is the future of design....I love it...I want to learn....any course available....pls inform me... through comment
lmao same
Does this wall consume more electricity?
Track ID please? Shazam can't find it... :(
What is the benefits for such types of walls
fully automated localized shading helps optimizing thermal energy demand of the building and provide better comfortness.
@@walterharoldbishopHaha so basically very minimal benefits.
How or where can i learn to do this?
Und was hat das mit dem Auto zutun?
❤magnifique
it will be great window glass
Is it rotating 90degree ???
Omg.. it is amazing. What type of motors did you use guys ?? I guess it is servo ?
Thank you! We use BLDC motors with proprietary motion drivers
I need to buy the electrical system to be installed in Egypt. Can someone help me? What is the name of the system or the part number? Thank you very much
Где и как можно приобрести вашу продукцию?
Track name pls

Hi, all the electronics is custom designed and produced by us.
where can i get the fixtures details ?
Супер 🙌😀
Why don't they make that giant ball at the Epcot Center do this!!
Awesome
I want to join you
Awesome!! What is the material?
The triangles are made with injection-molded ABS
what was the the software that Asian guy used in the video?
Unity
Very Lekker
and in reality this contraption maks annoying rattling sounds huh?
wow
Which software you use it for this installation
Looks like Rhino 3D for design and Fusion 360 for engineering.
Why havent i seen any billionaires houses with rooms designed with walls like this and active morphing virtual playgrounds yet?
