Thanks for the video. This was the only one I could find that covered my year. Looks like this latch setup was used in 1998 through 2006. In my case the truck came back from the shop with the hood not opening like yours. My is a 1999 e250. A few comments if I may. On mine it turns out the grill could be removed by only removing the 3 center 7mm on top at the 41 second mark of your video. The 4 bottom clicks were as desribed by you. The shroud , I wish you showed how to remove it with hood closed. The hole you showed at 1:55 is indeed factory. I could not get to the latch that needed to be pushed with the shroud on. Ended up bring back to shop. They were able to open by banging hood with large rubber mallet while pulling cable. The hood is fiberglass so it doesn't dent. The latch is exactly what yours is. Again thanks for your video. It almost got me there. :)
My E250 hood won't unlatch because (dum-dum) left a fender cover the top latch assembly partially covering it. Mine doesn’t have a hole in the plastic cover panel so all I can see is the release handle the extends down that can be pushed sideways to the right but that won't release it because of the fender blanket. I can't see the part I need to push upwards but I think it's the same as shown here. I wish I had a picture of what it looks like looking up from below the Latch assembly in to that lever I need to push up. 😊 Excellent video. 👍
