      Yes! Always something new. The VIP Lounge was really nice and the gaming lounge was cool! This year will be their 30th Anniversary of Fright Fest!

    It will be nice to have solar panels in the parking lot especially for the shade for those of us who have to park near Twisted Collosus or Scream!

    That gazebo was the lower station of Dragon. Used to walk down that way sometimes after closing when I worked as an op on Ninja.

    The old building behind the Cheeto stand was a station for the ride, Dragon, which was a transport ride that used to go up the hill to the other station, which is now the Ninja station.

    With all the repairs and repaint that SFMM is doing(which I applaud), THEY REALLY NEED to revamp Samurai Summit....now THAT area is REALLY run down with abandoned, dilapidated buildings...and get Sky Tower up and going again....even IF we don't get another coaster for a while.
    Take care of the park's overall appearance and asthetics, landscaping, AND FOOD!!!
    .....and yeah
    I remember Swiss/Sierra Twist....one of MY favorites at the park as well....and the area SHOULD receive a new thrill ride there.

      I agree. I am fine with infrastructure projects over a massive attraction. I have noticed management moving in this direction, and I have really been enjoying all of their seasonal events!

      @@theFUNnelCakeBlog Yeah like, I'm cool with the 20 coasters(even if some aren't currently operating..lol), and if we end up with a GIGA fine.
      But as long as they continue to progress with the asthetics of the park I'm satisfied.

    How are the ride operations? Are the rides open consistently and running two trains? I'm planning my first trip next month and want to have a good experience

    • @theFUNnelCakeBlog
      @theFUNnelCakeBlog  ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, I go to cover the events, eat, and walk around! If I go on the rides, its maybe one or two a visit and when they open, so I cannot comment on train operations. There have been a few rides down each visit, but there are so many rides in the park, that there is plenty to do! Have a good time!

      In the late 1970's...when there used to be a Monorail, two different train rides, two Eagles Flight locations (sky bucket ride). I worked the stream train as engineer.
      Btw before the Samurai Summit there was a steakhouse called the Four Winds.

Back in the day they had Spilikin Corners where they made all sorts crafts with Glass blowing and other different types of craftsmen making thing while you wait. Magic Mountain used to have it's own Unocal 76 Gas Station in the parking lot with multiple bays where you would fill up before leaving the park for the drive home.

  • @MrMywildside
    @MrMywildside ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Spin Out was a rotor ride. Basically the gazebo concealed a large hollowed out cylinder where riders would go inside, stand against its wall, and then the cylinder would spin at high speed and the floor would drop out and centrifugal force would leave the riders plastered to the wall. It was like an earlier version of those Gravitron rides found at carnivals and fairs.

    • @seanlewis1148
      @seanlewis1148 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wrong. The gazebo was the bottom station that connected to the one that's currently used for Ninja to house the Dragon, which several vehicles(forgot the amount exactly) took people up and down the west side of the mountain, opposite Magic Mover(Orient/Helpful Honda Express).
      The Spin Out was where the Samurai Summit sign currently is.

    I'm planning my first visit in December, how common is it to have this many of their roller coasters down?

    • @theFUNnelCakeBlog
      @theFUNnelCakeBlog  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It seems lately, there are 3-5 coasters down at any given time, and in December Roaring Rapids will more than likely be closed. But, there are dozens of other rides and Holiday in the Park will also be taking place at that time of year (depending on what days you are visiting).

    • @mofodante89
      @mofodante89 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @mofodante89
      @mofodante89 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seems to be getting slightly better. Riddlers Revenge is back open as of today after being closed for nearly 6 weeks straight. And Lex Luther opened last week after being closed for an extensive amount of time. So as of today, just 3 of their 20 coasters are still closed long term. Ninja, Apocalypse, and Goliath. Not great and not their typical summer operations but better. So there is improvement.

      @@theFUNnelCakeBlog Thank you for posting this video! It's kind of sad to see this, when I think back to when I first started going to the park in 1978 and how alive it always felt! I went frequently throughout the 80s and 90s. I miss seeing some of the old attractions like Spilikin Corners and the funicular that used to travel up and down the mountain. They used to have wonderful music acts that would play and there and had hypnotists that would perform there from time to time. I rode the Spin Out ride and it was a real classic! Magic Mountain used to have all types of different rides from big coasters to tamer rides that everyone could enjoy and the food was always top notch! Seeing the gaming room reminded me of when Magic Mountain used to have a Texas Instruments Innovations Room that showcased Texas Intruments pocket computer at the time. It was nothing compared to today's standards but back in 1980, it was a marvel that a computer could be so small and pocketable. Back in the 80s, Magic Mountain had it's own Unocal 76 Gas Station with 6 bays in the parking lot, where you could fill up your car before making your journey home. Those were the days!
      I hope that Magic Mountain is able to return to the glory days of the 80s and 90s when everyone would go there to ride the rides and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere that Magic Mountain offered!!

      It was opening day and it had just opened at 11 am. I was the first person to walk through the door. They technically hadn't opened yet. I try as much as possible to keep other guests and their faces out of my shots, so I went in there as it opened.
