    This is #1 on my wish list. Been stopping at every dealer to put my name on the list. I mean the non-list... Rolex is insistent on that talking point. It's NOT a list, but you have to put your name in to potentially get a call to buy one. I am not a scientist, but I do work in the electric utility industry, so still think it's an appropriate design.

    Love that you did a review of this watch.
    I've owned one for about 3 years and
    In the right light it's the best looking watch i have ever seen...in the wrong light it looks quite foggy and washed out. I'm okay with that but someone else might not be. So beware of that if you are considering this colour combo.
    It also has so much going on that it's hard to make it an everyday watch if that's your plan. Works amazingly well with denim though!. I had the chance to get a sub instead and I chose this watch. Have not regretted it for a lightning bolt second.
    Ps: the sea dweller has an engraved case back as well:)

    • @TheTimelyFocus
      @TheTimelyFocus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad to hear you have been enjoying yours as well! I see what you are saying about the lighting conditions and it getting a little washed out. I suppose I am used to my Grand Seiko which looks really washed out in certain lighting conditions so to me my Milgauss looks relatively good even when washed out. But I could not agree more about when it is in the right lighting conditions - it is absolutely gorgeous!
      Ahh, that is good to know about the sea dweller. Thanks!

    • @TheTimelyFocus
      @TheTimelyFocus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Right on! From what I understand, it really depends on your relationship with the AD. Now when a lot of people say this, they mean you have spent a lot of money at the AD. However, while this may be true in some cases, I think it is far more important to simply be a friendly guy who is clearly a watch enthusiast.
      So, in my case I waited a couple years with one AD and never got it but then started going to a different AD and only waited about four months. In both cases I visited about every month or two and just talked watches with a couple of the sales associates. When I got my Milgauss, the AD did inform me that there were dozens of people "on the list" let alone the hundreds of people walking in every week asking for "anything in steel" but they could tell I really appreciate watches plus I am a research scientist so it seemed right to let this one go to me.
      I think the most important thing is to be genuine though. Show a real appreciation for and interest in watches and your AD will notice. Some people will say you should not have to do this and frame it in a really negative way. However, if you are a real watch enthusiast, you will enjoy and want to visit to check out watches, learn about them, and converse with the sales associates about watches too.
      Hope this helps! Phill

    What a beautifully shot video, I'd say "super slick" applies to more than just the intro. Your honest opinion and personal connection to the watch is really interesting to hear about, you've gained another sub so I can see the full review.
    Since I picked up my Z-blue last week, a running joke between my friends has been "I'm something of a scientists myself..." whilst I hold up my wrist, but for you it's the reality!

    • @TheTimelyFocus
      @TheTimelyFocus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind words and congratulations on picking up your own Milgauss as well! Hahaha, that is quite a funny story.
      Yes stay tuned! I have had my Milgauss for almost 6 months now so I think I have almost had enough wrist time with it to feel qualified to do a full review on it very soon! Plus now that it is the summer and I do not have to teach labs but simply focus on my research, I have a little more time to work on reviews!
      I am curious, what are some of your favorite things about your Milgauss and is there anything you are not too excited about?

    • @JW-sm5hv
      @JW-sm5hv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheTimelyFocus Hi there, sorry didn't realise you had responded to my comment. Great to here you've got more time to do reviews, look forward to your thoughts on more watches.
      Favourite things are some of the obvious - not being overly paranoid about keeping the watch away from magnets (such as mounting mechanisms for my phone / ipad, nothing as crazy as your use case unfortunately!), green crystal, the dial and lightning bolt hand. I even appreciate the polished centre links - makes it a bit different from the other sports models and flows on from the polished bezels and case well.
      The downside for me is the old(er) movement - the 3131 is getting on a bit when everything else in the pro models has been upgraded to silicon hairspring and 70hr power reserve. They'll either bring the Milgauss up to date with a 3230 movement or discontinue it next year

      @TheTimelyFocus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you enjoy it! That is a good question. I was worried they were going to discontinue or update the Milgauss last year and thankfully for me it is still here. I do think Rolex will update it this year or certainly by next year. Interestingly secondary market prices have already been ramping up as of the last couple months - likely in anticipation of this specific model with the blue dial etc. being discontinued. I am really interested to see what happens in the future!

    Where can I buy one

    • @TheTimelyFocus
      @TheTimelyFocus  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a great question. I would say either (1) go down to your local Rolex Authorized Dealer and let them know you want a Milgauss and pop in a couple times per year to remind them. Then just wait. (2) Buy one from Hodinkee, Exquisite Timepieces, Bobs Watches etc or whatever is your favorite secondary market Roles seller. You will have to pay more, but you can avoid waiting. I waited 2 years with one AD in Idaho and then moved to Colorado and waited one year before I got mine
