    Since he doesn't mention it in the video, I figure I'll let yall know to save you a few moments of frustration: when you are removing your factory radio and you have those two hoop pins inserted into the face, you have to spread them AWAY from the radio to move the brackets on the sides of the radio. So, the left hoop you must pry to the left and the right one you must pry to the right.

    The "antenna " wire is to trigger a POWER ANTENNA so that it extends when you switch to AM/FM.
    The "remote" wire is used to turn on an external AMP like an aftermarket subwoofer.

    • @JamesMorningstar
      @JamesMorningstar 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you for saying that.
      The whole video was really good at first, explaining everything in a productive way, then went completely down hill when he got to the part about the antenna. It was also very funny that he thought the antenna wire could start a fire or something if it touched the radio metal, when there is no power coming from an antenna. In fact, many radio unit designers count on the antenna shield to act as a nice solid ground. There is no reason not to plug in the antenna, but plenty of good reasons not to forget plugging it in.

    Would this be similar with a grand marquis also? Or is it different due to the steering wheel volume and track control?

      The Crown Vic and the Grand Marquis are nearly identical. I may install this same radio in the famous 95 MERC.

      If yours is a 2003 the parts in this video are the correct. I bought all 3 wire harness adapters and the one in this video is the correct one.

    Hi... what is the harness adapter that you used (and where did you get it)? i bought a head unit from crutchfield for my 2005 grand marquis but the harness adapter that they prewired don't seem to be the right one... anyway i looked at the plug from the car in your video and it looks like the same as mine... thanks in advance...

    So what about the amplifier? I mean the Fords amp in a trunk.You should bypass it,because you are sending a high signal to it.

    So the radio isn't actually attached to the dash, it's just setting in the hole? I think I'll do mine a lil different.

    I know this sounds like a joke but seriously I've removed many of ford radios like this with metal clothes hangers bent in a similar fashion. I don't advise this but it can be done. Do what Mr random does and use the right removal tool. Not everyone can MacGyver like myself! Lol

    Quick easy question on this installation. Did you just tape off the orange and pink wires and the DVD worked? Or did you connect them to ground. Also my harness from the radio has 3mm jack too did you tape that off also?
