Allen from Sound Speed has a good teet on the W.Lav series. And I think it sounds quite good ( The W.Lav Pro) but is not in the beginner segment. There you probably should more go for a V.Lav.
I've owned a W.Lav Pro for almost 2 years now. They're great. My only issue with the W.Lav Pro is it not being able to predict how clumsy a person I am, and just be naturally immune to my stupidity. Other than that...it's amazing. Had one for almost two years now (in original beige colour). It took dropping a transmitter with the Lav still plugged in, while holding the Lav, giving a mighty tug on the Microdot TA3 Adapter (bouncing in the air at the connection point; the transmitter never hit the ground), maybe 5 times in the last two years before I had any issues. It's only now that the TA3 Adapters are struggling, by my own clumsy hand. Static and drop outs, Nothing more. Nothing a little tension release near the end of the cable where the Microdot points are plugging into the TX can't fix.
Thanks for the detailed review. I finally got my w lav pro and really happy with the clarity. The design is unique, looks professional and beautiful. The microdot connector is also one positive value for this mic. It can be fitted to various recorder.
Thanks for your review . Both Curtis Judd and Allen Williams recommend this mic but I was a little concerned about the cable's strength. Not anymore. Obviously. So I will get one to add to my Connect Interview kit.
Very interesting test. The 10lb weight was the most impressive. I'm sure no one will try to freeze their mic. It was hard for me to watch for sure. I was wondering if you guys can do a test in the situations we will find on set. LIke dried fake blood, sweat going in (salt water), tension where the cable and capsule meets, etc.
So this is done test saltwater, we drenched this in salt to melt the ice. We washed it all off and let it dry out overnight. You can hear the results at 7:45. As for where the cable meets the capsule it's actually more cable. The nylon reinforcement goes into the capsule. The bottom half of the capsule is still cable.
I’d love to see one of these rugged test (because let’s face it we’re sickos with a bloodlust for technological destruction) with an athlete or someone moving a lot (dare I say an mma fighter) to test the impact durability of the receivers and microphone itself. Love the work. :)
Stress test?! HAH. Love my Deity gear. Except for the DA35 microdot adapter. Bought 4, broke 4, within two productions covering 8 days. 2 Pros, a Micro, and a standard W.lav. ALL BROKEN by talent just wearing them in fairly tame situations, running Deity Connect and Senn G4 transmitters.
QuickTip if you get say salt water in your electronics like say a camera dunked in the Ocean your best bet is to clean it out with clean water and alcohol to reduce the salt content so it no longer corrodes before it corrodes. oh and I almost managed to save my camera which I considered not bad for having no tools and it being really small and being in a foreign country.
Makes me think I should have filmed myself taking apart the BP-TX a few months ago, turning it from "slightly damaged, could send it in for repairs" to "absolutely FUBAR"... But hey - you can't put a price on education! Ok, maybe you can - it's about 170 USD ;)
What do you think of the W.Lav Pro?
They are fantastic Lavs! I can't wait for the BP-TRX!

I'd love to see impact testing :D
Can the w.lav pro or micro connect and run properly with the Rode wireless GO II system?
I think I’ve accidentally put my mic’s through all these tests. Accidentally of course
😂accidentally froze your microphone?

This channel is so thoughtful and fun! I've already recomended it to many friends of mine in our local industry. Keep up the great work!!
Best - video - ever. LOL!! Love it! And yes, also grateful back for what you guys do. 👍
Finally a lav that will go with me into glaciers 😜
I heard Allen from @SoundSpeeds likes to do Stress tests :)

Thank you so much for the video. Much awaited for this test.
So you're saying we should destroy the S-Mic 2 next week?
@@DeityMicrophones Nooo...won't be able to handle that trauma 😅

And we're pretty grateful for you too 😊

Hey
I wanna buy d3 can i use it for voiceover
Excellent presentation well constructed and still sounding good, it took the beating and kept on working.
Did you like how it sounded at the end?
But can I use it as a hammer to drive a nail like that other microphone company after I frozen it?

I would be more worried about the connector and mic head than the cable itself for the 10lb weight. Stress test that next time?
Could the microdot connector have been the source/point of weakness of the static with the water/ice cube challenge?
Possible. There could have been water/ice inside of it. It is not waterproof.
Hello ! Just a question about the deity connect kit, Can i use DPA 4060 microphone with it?
I need this mic, where can I buy it, if I leave UAE.
Contact United Broadcast in the UAE. They don't have it yet but they can order it for you.
unitedbroadcast.com/brand/deitymic.html
So what is the name that w lav pro, I have the early version.
This was great! Thanks for doing the tests so we don't have to.
These test stress me out so much 😅

So I suppose now you have a WLav Pro to giveaway? ;-)

You’re welcome.
Lol ..... ‘Beat the crap out of this thing!!’
I was both enjoying this and cringing .......
Next time put the block of ice in the microwave lmao
now if it could only work with Google's pixel phones, then you'd really be onto something.
Would that solve the bugs with that phone?
it's not a bug if you didn't test it. ;)
Fry it 😅
