  • The intersection of gender and socioeconomic status positions poor women at the greatest disadvantage, faced with compounding barriers. Rizvi’s organization provides microloans and skills training to rural women in Pakistan to achieve financial independence. Rizvi calls on stakeholders to invest in women to build inclusive and sustainable economies. An empowered woman can further her education, find new opportunities and uplift her family and community. Shoaib Rizvi is an undergraduate student and a passionate advocate for women’s empowerment. As founder of the I Am An Entrepreneur, Rizvi is dedicated to advancing Pakistani women’s economic participation through microloans and training. He has previously interviewed widows affected by terrorism to produce the film Voices From Karachi. In 2017, he addressed the United Nations Youth Assembly and now speaks to young leaders around the world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
