The first and last time I had Nandos was exactly, almost to the day, 11 years ago. I was nine months pregnant, my waters had broken , but my daughter was very stubborn and wasn’t ready to greet the world. Across the road from the hospital was Nando’s. My obstetrician said a bit of spicy chicken would sort me out. Boy did it. I did love it, and I’m not sure why I’ve never been back.
Love Nando's and is our birthday treat. Other than birthdays, it's a packet of Nando's sauce from Sainsbury's and a packet of chicken breasts for a fakeaway 🤣🤣🤣
A great review Gary I did chuckle a few times.... You and your cameraman are something else. I love Nando's in fact I only said yesterday we need a trip there honestly. I have eaten Nandos a couple of times here in Adelaide and found it to be very good however very expensive too. Not tried it for years now. It is a quality fast food for sure but would be better if it was more affordable so it is not just a "once in a year" treat. When I did have Nandos, MILD was the go for me as anything more was way too hot for me. I felt for you Gary trying those HOT wings. He's not just a cameraman, he's a very naughty boy ! (LOL). For the quality alone, I'd give Nandos a 9/10 (10/10 if it was cheaper).
I just commented on the price too. I’m also from Adelaide, what Gary ordered came to $81 Australian. I know it’s too different country’s but wow that seems incredibly expensive.
Been Nando's lots of times and touch wood I haven't had any issues ć food or service. Bon appetite Gary. U always make me hungry watching your brill and honest reviews. 😊😊
I am the second person in the world who has never been to Nando’s. Hummus looked delicious without the hot sauce, wimp that I am. I liked the picture on the plate😂 It was pricey. Worth trying. Wouldn’t dream of trying the extra, extra off your head sauce thanks very much.
Only tried Nandos in India. It's a nice change here, but expensive and you have to pick the options, or get ripped off. btw if you want to come to India, I'll take you out for some amazing food.
Nandos was started by two Portuguese guys that were living in Rosettenville. Which is was about 20kms from where I grew up in Alberton. Great food. Thanks for the video👍
Unfortunately all of the major chains are charging lot more, they've been forced to by the prices they have to pay their suppliers for food. Everything has gone up sadly.
What a load of rubbish it was expensive before they put their prices up it's just greedy shareholders and business men, there's no way they need to charge that much to profit other places don't with the same ingredients @@Wally-H
A fair amount of misinformation here. Piri-piri (malagueta) came to India and Africa from South America via Portuguese explorers. In fact, the Portuguese introduced India to chillies. Chicken piri-piri as a dish was developed by these Portuguese colonisers in Mozambique but quickly spread throughout all Portuguese colonies. The only thing the founders of Nandos 'invented' was their particular blend for the sauce - but there are thousands of such blends and theirs is not especially noteworthy! Flame-grilled chicken is standard in many countries, including Portugal and Brazil. My family were making their own piri-piri sauces from scratch (for home cooking) in Brazil in the 60s.
The review of Nandos caught my eye as I am a fully fledged South African who has been along for the Nandos ride from the outset of the brand. I don't eat it every day, but what I can say is once you have it, you WILL have it again, you wake up one morning and will need Nandos, one of SA's great exports ! And Gary, no knife and fork, there is a reason there is a washbasin in every Nandos (at least I hope they have them in the UK)! Love the reviews, keep them coming...full chicken and chips GBP9.85 in SA at the current exchange rate...
Gary as a South African I prefer Nando's over KFC, here Nando's quality is much better and the chicken is flame grilled as oppose to KFC oily batter. If you don't like hot then they serve lemon and herb chicken. There ads here are a political satire and hilarious. All their sauces are available at local supermarkets. And Gary sprinkle not dump on humous LOL. Thanks Gary great video
3 cheers for the cameraman,10/10 for the cameraman,I’ve been pushing for another phaal challenge and here it is at nandos of all places, well done mr cameraman you deserve a promotion and raise . I love hot food when somebody else is eating it ,that was hilarious especially when you discovered the difference between drizzle and drown and yes I do pull the wings of flies as a hobby and poke faces at small children when their parents aren’t looking . One of your best and another big laugh, cheers

Hello Gary, I really like your various videos where you state upfront that your video is for your first ever visit for that restaurant. Chicken restaurants are becoming ever more popular here in the USA, so seeing how you rate the establishments in the UK is very informative and helpful.
Another great video Gary...What I can say is that the quality varies depending on the restaurants location.I've been to a few in London that weren't all that, then, when working in Norwich a couple of years back stumbled across a great one.Even the wine was good.
I think I'm speaking for all of your followers here Gary when I say how good it is to see you enjoy five dining experiences in a row, ranging from good to exceptional, after your awful experience in Padstow. Well earned! We take vicarious pleasure from your happy times as surely as we empathise with your disappointment at a poor meal.
I used to live in Rosettenville in Johannesburg…that’s where the very first Nando’s branch opened…and it’s still there despite the decline of the area.
Yep, I always go for the extra hot chicken pitta with the little black bottle of extra extra hot sauce. Usually I have to take the bottle pourer off, otherwise I can never get enough sauce out.
Great review Gary, only tried Nandos once, 15 years ago. Very expensive and small portions, the chicken leg must have come from a dwarf chuck, and spicy rice was 3 forks and gone. But having watched this review maybe I'll give it another go.
If you like hot chicken you can not get much hoter then jerk chicken in Jamaica it is the sauce that comes with it that makes it hot but after two are three red stripes you begin to cool down
I have never been to nandos & nothing there has made me change my mind to either. Great video as always Gary. Always look forward to your videos. Thanks
Nandos is well-known in South Africa for its cheeky advertisements, always topical, very funny, and unsurprisingly short-lived. However, the one I remember well was on the side of their delivery truck, about twenty years ago, "Poultry in Motion".
Had to laugh about the hot wings. Reminds me one night we had a dinner party and friends made Chilli con carne. It was so hot that really burnt for ages 😫. Great review, never been to one of these, not even sure if they are in Australia .

congrats on 84k subs too x
Thank you very much Harry
The piri piri drizzle mishap and the extra hot wings experience were hilarious Gary 😂 , great review as usual 👍
Lol thank you Deano
"Very hot chicken wings... Very funny."
Cannot help but sense a hint of sarcasm from that. 🤣🤣🤣
Not happy
Been Nando's lots of times and touch wood I haven't had any issues ć food or service. Bon appetite Gary. U always make me hungry watching your brill and honest reviews. 😊😊
That is very kind to say thank you
Always a 'jar' of Nando's sauce in our fridge!
Excellent
If the cameraman was *that* bad, he would have got the sticks switched!
Lol he's very close to being replaced
we should name this community : the GARY GANG
Lol. Why not?
I'm nearly there lol
The Gary Gang lol
Hmm, a certain disgraced former pop star springs to mind though, no (?)

Don’t know why I keep watching your videos but I just keep doing so.
Well done Gary.
Thank you very much, Anthony, I really appreciate you watching
I am the second person in the world who has never been to Nando’s. Hummus looked delicious without the hot sauce, wimp that I am. I liked the picture on the plate😂 It was pricey. Worth trying. Wouldn’t dream of trying the extra, extra off your head sauce thanks very much.
Seems a lot of you haven't which surprises me . Lol Ann that made me laugh thank you for that
Neither have I been nearly got through the door about 4 month's back but switched to harvester.
I’ve never been either.
Only tried Nandos in India. It's a nice change here, but expensive and you have to pick the options, or get ripped off. btw if you want to come to India, I'll take you out for some amazing food.
It is a little overpriced for sure
Nando’s was top notch when you could get a half chicken with two sides for under a tenner…. Unfortunately, it has gone up in price by 50% in two years
That is not good to hear at all, Sam
in oz was great, now portion size half, do they think we are stupid, very sad from a great brand.
Nandos was started by two Portuguese guys that were living in Rosettenville. Which is was about 20kms from where I grew up in Alberton. Great food. Thanks for the video👍
Thank you very much for the information, Gareth
@@GaryEats Rosettenville today, unfortunately, is quite a run down part of Johannesburg.
Nando's is way too expensive these days IMO. The best thing they do is their olives and garlic! Absolutely superb! 👌
Unfortunately all of the major chains are charging lot more, they've been forced to by the prices they have to pay their suppliers for food. Everything has gone up sadly.
If I ever go Nando’s now I have tap water instead of buying a drink. Cuts the cost down quite a bit
I have to agree it’s definitely pricey
What a load of rubbish it was expensive before they put their prices up it's just greedy shareholders and business men, there's no way they need to charge that much to profit other places don't with the same ingredients @@Wally-H
We used to eat at Nandos quite a lot, then prices went up and portion sizes down, we would feel hungry after an hour so stopped going!
And I thought i was the only person who's never been to Nando's !
Neither have I lol 😂
Nor me@@julieannsheridan6438
Nor me
nor me i see why its a lot of money for just chicken with a sauce on it.
Glad I wasn't the only one but it seems there's quite a few of us
A fair amount of misinformation here.
Thank you very much for all the information, Stuart, my apologies if I misled you
The review of Nandos caught my eye as I am a fully fledged South African who has been along for the Nandos ride from the outset of the brand.
Thank you for your wonderful comment
Gary as a South African I prefer Nando's over KFC, here Nando's quality is much better and the chicken is flame grilled as oppose to KFC oily batter. If you don't like hot then they serve lemon and herb chicken. There ads here are a political satire and hilarious. All their sauces are available at local supermarkets. And Gary sprinkle not dump on humous LOL. Thanks Gary great video
Thanks for the information Michael 🇿🇦🇿🇦
Cameraman stitched you up😂
The cameraman is my son, I’m still not talking to him 😂😂
Afrikana is a must for good piri piri chicken and other South African food!
Thanks for the information
3 cheers for the cameraman,10/10 for the cameraman,I’ve been pushing for another phaal challenge and here it is at nandos of all places, well done mr cameraman you deserve a promotion and raise . I love hot food when somebody else is eating it ,that was hilarious especially when you discovered the difference between drizzle and drown and yes I do pull the wings of flies as a hobby and poke faces at small children when their parents aren’t looking . One of your best and another big laugh, cheers
Bruce …Bruce I liked you but that’s it no more. lol 😂 the cameraman has to go…tomorrow you’ll find out who he is 😂😳
I've never had a Nando's and I've never wanted to. It really doesn't interest me and I don't buy in to all the hype from friends.
Completely understand that
@@GaryEats It's harder to have the enthusiasm when the nearest to me is Exeter - approximately 36 miles away.
Travelling to Carlisle or Hartlepool for an away day, however, is a completely different matter!
@@StutterBoyECFC Closest one to me is a 3 hour drive. 😆🦘
I’m a Texan and have never been to a Nando’s.
But being a british comedy fan, I’ve heard all about it.
Thank you very much for your comment
Not on the Benny Hill Show though, eh?!
Inbetweeners my Texan cousin?
Over priced
I have to agree with you
It's not even expensive
@@AnonymousSuperTuber It is for a fast food chain. Different if you were sitting in a nice restaurant with full table service.
You can get cheaper food at a fancy Steakhouse than Nandos. It's far too expensive.
Another enjoyable video Gary, even my mum enjoys your videos
Have a look at Chuck and Blade in Canterbury. Great burgers
Hello Gary,
I really like your various videos where you state upfront that your video is for your first ever visit for that restaurant. Chicken restaurants are becoming ever more popular here in the USA, so seeing how you rate the establishments in the UK is very informative and helpful.
Thank you Paul
Fantastic we love watching your reviews and what star the camera man for those wings very funny . Keep up the good work .
That’s very kind to say John thank you
Another great video Gary...What I can say is that the quality varies depending on the restaurants location.I've been to a few in London that weren't all that, then, when working in Norwich a couple of years back stumbled across a great one.Even the wine was good.
Maybe it depends on the franchise you visit Billy 🤷♂️
I think I'm speaking for all of your followers here Gary when I say how good it is to see you enjoy five dining experiences in a row, ranging from good to exceptional, after your awful experience in Padstow. Well earned!
We take vicarious pleasure from your happy times as surely as we empathise with your disappointment at a poor meal.
Thank you Nicholas. Onwards and upwards!!
I used to live in Rosettenville in Johannesburg…that’s where the very first Nando’s branch opened…and it’s still there despite the decline of the area.
That’s great to hear 👌👌
Hilarious! Watched with a huge smile on my face! Thanks and cheers Gary!
I was completely stitched up on this one Stephen 😡
Yep, I always go for the extra hot chicken pitta with the little black bottle of extra extra hot sauce. Usually I have to take the bottle pourer off, otherwise I can never get enough sauce out.
Totally mad it’s too hot for me 🥵🥵
Great video as always 😊, get yourself up to Scotland for a few reviews
You’ll find out in tomorrow’s video Barry 🏴
Great review Gary, only tried Nandos once, 15 years ago. Very expensive and small portions, the chicken leg must have come from a dwarf chuck, and spicy rice was 3 forks and gone. But having watched this review maybe I'll give it another go.
It all depends on the franchise is my guess Mark
If you like hot chicken you can not get much hoter then jerk chicken in Jamaica it is the sauce that comes with it that makes it hot but after two are three red stripes you begin to cool down
I’ll make it 5 when I try Eddie 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
I have never been to nandos & nothing there has made me change my mind to either.
Great video as always Gary.
Always look forward to your videos. Thanks
Thanks 👍
Been to two Nando's, the one in Chester is really good, but it's poor in Broughton Park near Chester.
I guess it all depends on which franchise you visit
Great video, love from South Africa. Interesting to see how big Nandos has become overseas! Grew up thinking of it as just a local chain.
It definitely expanded thought the world 👌
Found your channel a couple of days ago and it’s been a treat !!! I’ve probably watched half of your videos by now 😂😂😂 absolutely love your videos!!!
Glad you like them! Means a lot Lily
Exciting to see you try Nando’s finally! The new menu just launched and you’ve made me want to try it. Definitely sticking to the mild sauces though 😅
It’s good but definitely pricey
The best food reviewer ever. Really enjoy you're videos mate. Great stuff👌👌
Wow, thanks!
XHot Nandos and the even the XXHot sauce isn't that hot Gary! The Vusa sauce is tasty too. It's a staple lazy date night for us!
It’s definitely to hot for me, in fact it completely caught me out 🥵🥵
I bring my family to Nando's at least once a year. Glad you had a good time there too.
Nandos is well-known in South Africa for its cheeky advertisements, always topical, very funny, and unsurprisingly short-lived. However, the one I remember well was on the side of their delivery truck, about twenty years ago, "Poultry in Motion".
Lol that is hilarious
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Had to laugh about the hot wings. Reminds me one night we had a dinner party and friends made Chilli con carne. It was so hot that really burnt for ages 😫.
Great review, never been to one of these, not even sure if they are in Australia .
Thank you very much Andy 🇦🇺🇦🇺
