Wendy's was my first job when I was at university. Burgers, chips, Frosty, and chili - that was the entire menu. And if they still stick to the same sort of cleaning discipline we were given, it really is one of the cleanest fast food places. I think the spud challenge would be brilliant!
Another great review of a popular fast food restaurant that is making a comeback in the UK. My late father loved Wendy's chili and I do like their cheeseburgers. I would love to see you review a jacket potato from The Spudman. I have seen some other videos, in particular the one on Rate My Takeaway, and they look amazing. Take good care of yourself and enjoy your week. Kindest regards, Anna-Marie from Pennsylvania, US!
Echoing some others, the Frosty is usually eaten with a spoon rather than fruitlessly trying to drink with a straw - I'm surprised they didn't give you a spoon. The default flavor of a Frosty is actually chocolate, the vanilla is something they introduced in 2006. They've introduced other flavors over the years in the US on and off - strawberry, a Holidays peppermint, and an autumn pumpkin spice - but chocolate is the original Frosty. As for all that bacon on the burger... well, they don't call it the Baconator for nothing.
I'm also really impressed with Wendy's. Of the big burger chains I've tried, I'd rank them: 1. Five Guys (top quality burger and, so long as you order wisely, good value for money) 2. Wendy's (perhaps the best all rounder in terms of food quality, options and price) 3. Shake Shack (excellent burger - for me even better than Wendy's - but a bit overpriced) 4. Burger King (very decent burger but limited side order options and I just find the restaurants themselves really bleak) 5. Wimpy (nice burger in decent surroundings but hopelessly overpriced) 6. McDonalds (mediocre food that can't even claim to be all that cheap anymore)
I went to the Wendy's in Kingston last week for the first time and was quite impressed. Price wise it's between McDonald's and Five Guys but I think it's the best value for money. The burger came with fresh ingredients and I was served almost instantly. I don't visit fast food places often but I will go again soon because it was clean and they serve quality products. Apparently dipping your fries in a chocolate Frosty is a thing Americans do. Thank goodness they're over there and we're over here.
Tried Five guys a couple of times recently after everyone speaking so highly of it, and really didnt get the hype - expensive and mine didnt seem very nice🤷♂️ Would be interested in Gary reviewing - or someone explaining where I’m going wrong!
@@ManchesterKungFuno I'm with you there. Five guys was very underwhelming and expensive. Shake Shack are better, but not really worth the price either.
Hi Gary. After a long absence, it was announced in August last year that Wendy’s are returning to Australia and opening 200 outlets. I’m hoping that their Jacket Potato will be on the menu. McDonalds here need a good shakeup. This could be it. As always, an important and enjoyable review.
The frosty is always super thick like that - it's actually closer to soft-serve ice cream than a milkshake. I never get it with my meal as a drink - I go back afterwards and pick one up for dessert if I decide to go for it. And you're right - you should have gotten the chocolate, which is quite mild but really nice. For years that's the only flavor they sold. Wendy's here in the states had a bit of a dip in quality after Dave died some years back. I dont think they've completely rebounded - here at least - but they've been fighting to regain ground. I hope for the best, because they were my favorite fast food for a long time. Now its between them, Shake Shack ( originated in New York), Culver's (Wisconsin native, I think), and maybe In-and-Out (California kid all the way). But the latter 3 are not as widespread. Glad you enjoyed it. Oh - they've done the potatoes for years (maybe always), the chile is made with their burger meat, and the chicken is cut from breast meat instead of the reformed chicken product used by many (looking at you, McD's).
Yes I’d like to see a jacket potato video, it’s my favorite food! At Wendy’s you’re supposed to dip your fries into your Frosty, as tradition would have it. Good video, thanks for giving it a go! 🎉
When living in Vermont, Wendy's was my personal favorite. The Frosties are not shakes - more like dessert. After moving to Tennessee, very disappointed in most fast food here (we seldom eat it anyway) but discovered Freddie's (smash burgers). Love their burgers & custard (ice cream). All time favorite here in TN - Five Guys. Great burgers, best fries in the industry in my opinion. Very pricey, though. Had hubby take me there for our 27th anniversary on Valentines Day (I'm a cheap date😅) and loved it! I continue to love your work, Gary and am doing my best to catch up on your earlier work. Keep doing what you're doing - it's awesome!❤😊
Nice one Gary, great to see you on my home turf! Not been able to go into that Wendy's for a little while; it was a favourite of a friend who recently passed away, but your video cheered me up! Keep doing what you're doing 🥳
Great review Gary. Have been to Wendy’s, when on holiday in America and compared to other fast food restaurants, Wendy’s is the best. Enjoyed your review and score. Would be interesting to see your presentation on baked potatoes. Many thanks for sharing with us 👍👍👍
That looked amazing Gary, really impressed. McDonald's chicken salad is some sad looking lettuce with some dry chicken, this looked so much better. I'll be giving it a go!!
I rarely eat fast food, but tried the Wendy's in Camden Town. I had a filled croissant , because I don't like burgers. It wa super and so fresh. The staff were friendly and we could see the food being prepared. So impressed.
Gary you'd be surprised to hear this, but i didn't have any clue regarding Wendy's. Then I checked it on google, found that it's already in so many places in India. Although it's not in my town. Anyway, I got to know about a new restaurant! Thank you and the cameraman for that! Learning is a lifelong process! And as always, a great review video! 🙌🏽
I was quite surprised and impressed at the quality there actually Gary I would of quite happily scoffed the lot. They certainly have a good business model shaming all the other fast food restaurants out there, quality will always keep you in business. Take care Gary, Gareth
Ah man Wendy’s…. There used to be one on the corner of Gt Windmill St and Shaftesbury Ave in London. The square burger was a constant source of fascination. They were nice burgers, too. It’s fascinating that McDonald’s became so dominant, given that if you put their burgers against BK and Wendy and Wimpy, they definitely come 4th 😂 there’s no accounting for taste.
Well, McDonald's was there first. I really think that's all. And their fries used to be really good back in the day, when they were cooked in beef fat. Now they're more run-of-the-mill.
@@strumbolli I reckon McDonald’s is all perceived value though. The size and flavour of their junk food is nowhere near as good as BK. Even though BK is more expensive
@@GaryEats awesome! Some good places for a Parmo; Manjaros & Al Forno for a more restaurant feel For a more classic country pub, The Bay horse and Jet miners in Great Broughton also do some beautiful parmos too! So many different places to choose from tho, excited to see your thoughts on it 🫡
Great review as always Gary! Have to say the food looked infinitely better than the main competitors. Price point seemed reasonable too as the food ordered could feed three easily for lunch. Definitely looking forward to the baked spud comparison 👍
Your baked potato looked to be the highlight of the meal (to my tastes).Last year Wendy's announced that they are going to try to establish a market in Australia over the next decade with 200 outlets (failed badly the first time). After listening to your comments they may have a better chance this time if they adjust to our market as all countries are different and what works in the USA does not always work elsewhere.Great review again and i would have given it an 8 which is high for me considering it is a takeaway place
Wendy’s opened a place in reading about a year ago. First month there were queues outside. Next month you could count the people in there using your fingers. I've been in two, one in the US, one in the Philippines. They were better than Mc D's,but that's not saying much.
Really nice to have the option of having a jacket potato, definitely want to see the comparison one you mentioned, what on earth can you do to the humble jacket spud to make it so expensive ? Definitely intrigued ! Food looked good 👍🏻
Hi Gary, I was lucky enough to have my first Wendy's in the U.S. and I was absolutely blown away by the flavour of the pattie alone. I had a Dave's double with fries, and also a chocolate frosty to dip my fries in - it's a thing over there! Wasn't too keen on that though. Then I went to my local Wendy's here in the U.K. and yes it was still nice, but the difference in the taste of the pattie was very noticeable. Ours are made from British beef, but I didn't think it was as well-seasoned as the American burger. It may be my taste buds went a bit wappy after covid etc, but I did notice a difference. Going to have to try their jacket with chilli. Thanks for the well-balanced and unbiased view. Cheers!
That's interesting because I found the UK Wendy's to be much tastier than the US one. Dipping your fries into your milkshake is odd but for some reason it works - wish Gary gave that a try haha.
Thanks for the review Gary. I have never tried Wendy’s but that jacket looks worth a try. Go for that Celeb spud challenge. Always entertaining. Also a breakfast challenge with Wendy’s, McDs and Burger King will be fascinating. Thanks again to Gary and Mr Cameraman
Hi Gary, I went to the Little Portland Cafe today with my son. I had sirloin steak, chips, peas and egg. My son had home-made steak pie, chips and peas. We both had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and 2 cups of tea, £29.40. Very friendly staff and the food was excellent. It was easy to find and at midday today it was only half full. I spoke to the owner and he told me that he remembered you going there. I said I had seen your video and wanted to “give it a go!” Cheers 😊
Hello, Gary. The jacket potato comparison is a bloody good idea. For me, a good J.P is (funnily enough) the quality of the spud plus plenty of salt and butter. Not visited a Wendy's so can't comment, but looked decent enough as fast-food goes - that salad was defo calo-rific! Ever thought about reviewing some shack cabins? Roadside outlets that serve genuinely good local food, fast, and at a reasonable price? There are some amazing ones out there (and a few dodgy ones too!) Enjoyed the vid, you're a top fella. Great post as always, pal 👍.
Where we live in a small rural Market town, cash is still widely used and promoted. However, as our last bank in town is scheduled to close within the next 12 months, I struggle to see how any of our local independent businesses will deposit and bank their cash daily. Thoughts?
@@grahamd9518 Cash is used widely and increasingly in my local area too and the banks have also shut all their branches over 2 years ago, but the small businesses use cash to pay their suppliers (who are often also small independent businesses) and use the local post office to pay into their business accounts. So not a problem, cash is definitely king.
@@grahamd9518 well, I'm old and glad I am. The "future" if there is one, is not that bright. In fact, it's pretty bloody bleak you ask me! Everything digital. Everything you do will be surveyed. Freedom will be eroded. Be a social credit system within 15 years. Horrendous.
I think you got it right, Gary. Of all the fast food places, Wendy's is the best. Having said that, it is still fast food. As you noted, their advantage is their not-frozen burgers. You can get them with lettuce and tomato, which I recommend. The odd thing about Wendy's is their frosty. They don't have a milk shake on their menu and most folks trying them for the first time get the frosty thinking they are getting a milkshake, as you did. The frosty is really a big cup of ice cream (or frozen custard). I remember making that mistake 50 years ago when I first tried them. I don't often get it given the calories. I agree, too, that their baked potato with chili is quite good. Terry
I love a Wendys. You pay a little more but you are getting what you paid for. Cheers for doing this one Gary. I was one of the ones who suggested this after Wimpy.
Thanks for doing this review Gary , I do love Wendy's . i used to live in Miami and this was my go to fast food along with IHOP ,your choice here was amazing .10/10
Good evening Gary and CM. Hope you're both well. Yes please to the spud challenge!! Regards Wendy's...burger looked OK. There used to be a Wendy's in Croydon and I remember the square patties...and round buns 😂🤔 I thought the salad looked a bit messy but OK. Jacket potato looked nice...the best of what you chose. Industrial suction pumps needed for the milkshake!! 😂 The thing that puts me off in these places is having to order via that board! I prefer a person, so for this reason, I don't very often frequent burger places. Glad you enjoyed it. Have a good evening. 😊
Hiya Gary really happy to see u doing a review on Wendy's I worked for them in the mid 80s n loved it . Well worth every penny . Lovely seeing u again take care till the next video
Love Wendy’s ❤ Another 10/10 video. Their healthy option is actually a bowl of chilli with a chive baked potato, milk and you can get a side salad with just the veggies at my Wendy’s. The chilli has loads of sodium, but it’s still the healthiest fast food meal out there. I think it’s cheaper in Canada. I need to spend $15 CAD on Door Dash to get free delivery and I usually need to throw in some extra drinks and salad for later to get there. 👍 to potatoes comparison video please 🙏
Another fab video Gary. Never been but quietly impressed by how it looks - and for the price! A few pickles on the burger or, as you said, maybe some lettuce, tomato, onion would've kicked it up a star.
I used to live in the US and loved Wendy's, but have yet to try the UK version. Will have to now! The quality here looks much better but that's no doubt reflected in the price. Thanks for a great vid.
I haven't had Wendy's since I was in florida in 2001!!!! One thing though, if i missed it, I do apologise! But I never hear you comment on the temperature of the burgers you're reviewing? I've had countless mcdonalds and burger Kings. And to be honest I'm lucky if they're just warm! Would love to know if your food is hot, cold, warm or could be hotter! Thanks Gary, always a joy to watch!
Ah, brings back memories. I used to flip burgers back in the 80's at a Wendy's in Chicago. Before the Baconator, there was Dave's Deluxe: bacon of course, but also sautéed onions, the works.
So glad your experience of Wendy's is better than mine! They reopened here in Dunedin NZ about 8 years ago, so we decided to try them and see what all the hype was about. I ended up with food poisoning and have never been back! It put me off them for life! I rarely eat burgers now, unless I've made and cooked them myself. Having said that, the potato looked great; I love a good jacket potato with chili on top, though I prefer sour cream to cheese. The salad was good, too. Whether they are offered here, I don't know. Maybe I need to brave up and revisit, to see if they do! xx
You should try Wendy’s again, because unless a large number of people got sick after eating there, you probably didn’t get food poisoning from them,as the meat used would be the same for a lot of people.I worked most of my life in restaurants, and every now,and again someone would call up,and say they got food poisoning, but usually the restaurant had sold many portions of the same dish, and only one person thought they got sick. One time at a restaurant I worked at we had tuna salad for the family meal, fresh made from canned tuna, and that night I was sick, but no one else was,so I knew it didn’t have anything to do with the tuna.I thought if I told you this story you might feel safer to try Wendy’s again.😊
They are pretty big in Canada too. They just backed off on surge pricing in North America. The best two things at Wendy’s are the baked potatoes and unlimited refills when dining in. Still, just like every fast-food restaurant they have gone up in price a lot, the best of the worst.
I checked the Wendy's menu here in America, and the Frosty is described as a dessert. So I don't think it is meant to be the consistency of a milkshake. It can be misleading as they give you a straw with it, but I'm pretty sure they also provide a spoon.
Gary, the Frostee is not classified as a milkshake. Back in the 50’s North America, there were places known as Malt Shoppes because they used chocolate flavoured malt (a little like Ovaltine) to flavour thick frozen whipped milk and cream. Wendy’s has kept that tradition and it’s the only time I indulge in that kind of thing. They’ve changed their formula a bit in the last decade but it’s still alright. I appreciate the density of it. Quite nice. Thanks again for the post.
Ah wendys chili, I remember it fondly. I haven’t eaten fast food in many, many years, but when I did, Wendy’s was a favorite. Nice hair cut Gary. Always good to see you! Thanks again
A couple of things: 1. The Frosty isn't a shake, it's why they serve it without a lid, but it's softer than soft-serve ice cream, too. That straw was never going to work...unless you wait until it's considerably melted. 2. Fun fact: their chili is made with the leftover fresh beef they use for their burgers. Less waste that way!
Great review, Gary. I went to that same Wendy's a few weeks back and tried the Guildford as well. Really liked their burger, better than five guys in my opinion, agree could do with tomato etc. Fries have great seasonimg also. Jacket not something I'd usually go for in a burger place but will try next time on your recommendation, it looked good 👌
Always interested to see what you come up with Gary, I'm not a great fast food fan but I don't mind a burger now and again, but unlikely to darken Wendy's doors. Your reviews are always honest and give people like myself an insight into different culinary experiences, thank you and best wishes.
It gets the thumbs 👍 up from me too. Have tried before they closed those years ago, and again recently. Still as tasty, almost homemade. Nice video Gary. Greek food on the horizon maybe? I'm not Greek by the way but love their dishes. Cheers 🍻
@@GaryEats I'd recommend dolmades, (meat ones are best) Small deep fried white bait, backed potatoes with anchovies, beef stifado and maybe grilled skewers of lamb with Greek salad, Gyros and stuffed aubergine or pepper. Corrrr I'm starving already 😀 best of luck Gary 👍🖐 p.s please please please KEEP AWAY from 'THE REAL GREEK' . They're rip offs.
Yes yes yes for the spud challenge ,as for Wendy’s ,based on your comments and facial expressions it was a definite 8/10 .Another entertaining video and keep it up !
Wendy's is one of my favorites. A great burger joint. You've picked good food there. Go through the entire menu and then give it an evaluation. Although 7.5 out of 10 is fair.
Glad you like our hometown fare ! Dave Thomas opened his first Wendy’s in downtown Columbus, Ohio in 1969 and we have been enjoying his for since! Dave was a great guy, an orphan himself he always took part in the community. I grew up eating his creations . The baconator is delicious, as well as his regular burgers ( if you missed the lettuce and tomato) and my mother always opted for his jacked potatoes. A great winter combo is a large bowl of chili washed down with his Frosty .
I find the same with 5 Guys..Really tasty but ultimately very expensive fast food. I would try based on this but wouldn't be a regular because of the price.. Thanks for another great review Gary
It looked a great meal Gary. Was thinking that it was sufficient for two people so in the end it was quite reasonable. I do like the thought of a spud challenge. The best baked potato I have had was in Turkey where they whip the cooked potato with butter unti lit is light and fluffy and then add the topping of your choice. They were massive! Thanks for a great review.
i remember when i was young i used to visit Wendys behind Trocadero in London, always been more expensive when compared to Burger King and other fast food places but the quality was always there. Great video, will look for one now!
Great review. My wife and I grew up in Ohio where Dave started out and it’s the only fast food we eat. To be fair about the price, we would have considered each of your items (salad, baconator, and baked potato) each to be a meal by itself. We assume Frosty shakes are what they are and you’re right, chocolate is better. One common American thing is to dip your fries into the frosty. It’s not horribly popular but not uncommon. Finally you would be impressed in learning more about Dave’s childhood, how he came to start the chain and their corporate charity. Very interesting story.
Would like to see the jacket comparison video Gary. Wendy's looked well worth a visit, the burger looked good as did the chicken salad. Thanks for sharing.
That looked really tasty, and regards anemic undercooked bacon I totally agree, not a problem here. I've never tried a Wendy's but will definitely 'give them a go' if there's one nearby. Well regards fast food you've now got to try them all Gary! I don't eat much fast food (just now and again) but I personally would go with KFC for chicken and Burger King for burgers.
Excellent video as always, the spud comparison has to be with identical toppings to be fair, and from a personal preference also the skin needs to be judged. When you have hollowed out and consumed the potato - will the skin and a dollop of dressing or butter be a crunchy finish to the meal or is it a limp disappointment that splits and leaks its contents on the plate or table !
Wow. Took me back to the 80s when my parents took us on holiday to Florida a few times. Wendy's was streets ahead and their was a salad bar for my parents. Was fortunate enough to have a local Wendy's in London some years ago. Then it was very clean, good ingredients and very tasty. Hope one is opening near me soon. I vote yes for the SPUD challenge.
There’s one in Leeds (interestingly in near enough the same location as it was when it shut 20 years ago) been thinking about going in for ages, like you I’m not a big fast food man, but that certainly looks a step up.
Great combo Gary. Wendy's is a nice place to enjoy some fast food once in a while. The milk shake real seems ice cream or yogurt more likely. Right bet on this one mate👌
I love Wendy's chili. Fun fact - they put chili on the menu to use up their unsold burger patties at the end of the day. Order the sour cream potato and a small cup of chili, so good! The creaminess of the sour cream combines well with the chili. Great video!
Thumbs up for the jacket potato comparison video 👍🏼

WhatABurger from Texas is really nice. I prefer it to McDonald's, Wendy's and In and Out.
Ah, thank you Heidi for the info
Yes I’d like to see a jacket potato video, it’s my favorite food! At Wendy’s you’re supposed to dip your fries into your Frosty, as tradition would have it. Good video, thanks for giving it a go! 🎉
Thank you very kind not sure snout dipping the fries 🤔
Thank you so much, very kind of you 😄 hope you had a great Valentine’s Day!
Nice one Gary, great to see you on my home turf! Not been able to go into that Wendy's for a little while; it was a favourite of a friend who recently passed away, but your video cheered me up! Keep doing what you're doing 🥳
That is so nice to hear Richard and I’m really sorry for your loss mate 😥
Wish we had a Wendy's round our way.
Everyone who I know who's had one always rates it.
Cheers Gazza!
Take care Mark
Great review Gary. Have been to Wendy’s, when on holiday in America and compared to other fast food restaurants, Wendy’s is the best. Enjoyed your review and score. Would be interesting to see your presentation on baked potatoes. Many thanks for sharing with us 👍👍👍
Thank you Andrea it’s better than the rest in my opinion
That looked amazing Gary, really impressed. McDonald's chicken salad is some sad looking lettuce with some dry chicken, this looked so much better. I'll be giving it a go!!
Go for it Lisa I was surprised 😳
You can’t get a jacket potato from Mac Donald’s, going to try Wendy’s looks lovely
In my view, Wendy is much better
well if you did it would be made of cardboard.......there bacon...yeeeuukk !! wendys looks fair !
N o Maccas
It’s far better then McDs 👍
Can you just buy the jacket potato on its own ,that looks filling enough ❤
Young Gary looking fresh with a smart haircut.
I have been trying to figure out his age. I would say mid sixties
@@expat3858I have Gary at early fifties.
@@expat3858I don't think this will get a like
@@expat3858he is not that old. Where did you get that from?

I rarely eat fast food, but tried the Wendy's in Camden Town. I had a filled croissant , because I don't like burgers. It wa super and so fresh. The staff were friendly and we could see the food being prepared. So impressed.
Super!!
That is very kind especially all the way from 🇮🇳 you have a great week Rishi 👍
@@GaryEats Thank you Gary and you too! 🙏🏽
I was quite surprised and impressed at the quality there actually Gary I would of quite happily scoffed the lot.
They certainly have a good business model shaming all the other fast food restaurants out there, quality will always keep you in business. Take care Gary, Gareth
Me like you Gareth, not a lover of fast food but enjoyed this one!
There used to be one in the Strand too, the only one I went too. Much better than McD's, the square burger was novel.
Value, that's how mate.
@@strumbolli I reckon McDonald’s is all perceived value though. The size and flavour of their junk food is nowhere near as good as BK. Even though BK is more expensive
Interesting. I completely agree with you, McDonald’s is easily last but also the cheapest
Great review on a fast food outlet. You were very honest with your review, fantastic.
Thank you very kind 👍
Also Gary excellent plan on the jacket potato comparison front !! 🙌😉
Thank you Kevin
Gary you must come to Middlesbrough and try the Parmo. Its a local dish from up there!
Will do in the next few months
@@GaryEats awesome!
Some good places for a Parmo;
Manjaros & Al Forno for a more restaurant feel
For a more classic country pub, The Bay horse and Jet miners in Great Broughton also do some beautiful parmos too!
Thank you very much Phil
Another great review Gary and a definite yes to the spud challenge 😊
Thank you Liz coming soon I hope 😳
Totally agree with you I went to the Wendy’s in Brighton and throughly enjoyed it , proper fast food cooked well
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Agree 👍 great Wendy's outlet & very helpful staff 😊
Thanks for another great video gary always love watching you
Very kind Julie thank you 🙏
Your baked potato looked to be the highlight of the meal (to my tastes).Last year Wendy's announced that they are going to try to establish a market in Australia over the next decade with 200 outlets (failed badly the first time). After listening to your comments they may have a better chance this time if they adjust to our market as all countries are different and what works in the USA does not always work elsewhere.Great review again and i would have given it an 8 which is high for me considering it is a takeaway place
Thank you Paul I think the6 have rethought the business plan 🤷♂️
This is a special treat Gary there's not to many UK Wendy's reviews out there. Well done
Thank you very kind
Yes please to jacket pot comparison.. Great vid as always ❤
Thank you and coming soon
I’ve never heard of Wendy’s before tbh, but that burger looked great considering it was from a chain fast food place, great review yet again Gary 👍
Thank you George my first time trying a Wendy’s
Wendy’s opened a place in reading about a year ago. First month there were queues outside. Next month you could count the people in there using your fingers. I've been in two, one in the US, one in the Philippines. They were better than Mc D's,but that's not saying much.
Do what works for you mate I’ll watch anything you post anyway I respect your humility and honesty thanks for spending the time replying
Thank you Barry that is very kind 👍
It must be my age but I do like the idea of going to a counter and ordering in person ?
Wendy’s does look competitively priced. Look good too!
I also prefer it
Really nice to have the option of having a jacket potato, definitely want to see the comparison one you mentioned, what on earth can you do to the humble jacket spud to make it so expensive ? Definitely intrigued ! Food looked good 👍🏻
Thank you and we will find out soon
I enjoy your videos Gary mate, you seem a genuine good geezer. Put it there🤝
Thank you Gary and so are you 👍
Gary, another great review food, looked very nice and value for money 😊
Thank you Paul
Yes please do the spud challenge, can't beat a good jacket potato!!! Love your channel Gary because you're so down to earth.
Thank you Janet that is very kind, spud challenge coming soon
Cheers!
Thank you very much for your wonderful comment, I thought the jacket potato was very good
That's interesting because I found the UK Wendy's to be much tastier than the US one.
You’re welcome Richard. I’ll take a look and hopefully I can film it!
Ah excellent and that means a lot Alan. Glad you enjoyed your food and happy I could recommend it to you!
Wendy's burgers are square because they don't cut corners.
Next burger review should be Five Guys. Top quality or overrated and too expensive? Only you can tell us.
Overrated and expensive in the UK , but very good in the U.S.
Can't beat a 5 guys
Bloody good as a special treat
Nice but way overpriced
They're ok but they charge table service prices for a fast food experience.
There are some amazing ones out there (and a few dodgy ones too!)
Enjoyed the vid, you're a top fella.
Great post as always, pal 👍.
Thank you as always a lovely comment and a suggestion I will be definitely doing 👍
Another brill review mate👍
Thanks 👍
Spud challenge, oh Hell yes!
Coming soon Patrick
Can you ask the lass behind the counter and pay cash as opposed to using that wretched machine?
Cash is king and should be safe guarded.
I think you have to use card Steevo, I didn’t see anyone at the front serving at a till
Amen
@@grahamd9518 well, I'm old and glad I am.
The "future" if there is one, is not that bright.
In fact, it's pretty bloody bleak you ask me!
Everything digital. Everything you do will be surveyed. Freedom will be eroded.

Terry
Thank you very much for the comment, it’s not cheap but definitely a great burger
I love a Wendys. You pay a little more but you are getting what you paid for. Cheers for doing this one Gary. I was one of the ones who suggested this after Wimpy.
A great suggestion thank you ☺️
Enjoyed this video. Good job!
Thanks very much Colin
Thanks for doing this review Gary , I do love Wendy's . i used to live in Miami and this was my go to fast food along with IHOP ,your choice here was amazing .10/10
You’re so very welcome 🙏
Good evening Gary and CM.
Hope you're both well.
Yes please to the spud challenge!!
Regards Wendy's...burger looked OK. There used to be a Wendy's in Croydon and I remember the square patties...and round buns 😂🤔
I thought the salad looked a bit messy but OK. Jacket potato looked nice...the best of what you chose.
Industrial suction pumps needed for the milkshake!! 😂
The thing that puts me off in these places is having to order via that board! I prefer a person, so for this reason, I don't very often frequent burger places.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Have a good evening.
😊
A frosty isn't a milkshake. It is a soft serve ice cream.
🤷♀️🤷♀️@@gauravipal9518
Thanks Heather, hope you’re doing well. Spud challenge will be on the way next week!
Hiya Gary really happy to see u doing a review on Wendy's
I worked for them in the mid 80s n loved it . Well worth every penny .
Lovely seeing u again take care till the next video
Glad you enjoyed it Wendy. Hopefully see you on the next!
Looks lovely Gary fair play great content as usual.
Many thanks!!
Thank you Jean very kind and spud challenge coming soon 👌
Another fab video Gary.
Never been but quietly impressed by how it looks - and for the price!
A few pickles on the burger or, as you said, maybe some lettuce, tomato, onion would've kicked it up a star.
It was very good all round 👍
I used to live in the US and loved Wendy's, but have yet to try the UK version. Will have to now! The quality here looks much better but that's no doubt reflected in the price.
Thanks for a great vid.
Very kind thank you
I haven't had Wendy's since I was in florida in 2001!!!!
Much appreciated Dale
Ah, brings back memories. I used to flip burgers back in the 80's at a Wendy's in Chicago. Before the Baconator, there was Dave's Deluxe: bacon of course, but also sautéed onions, the works.
Wow Peter good memories
Nice video, Gary ; I paid a visit to Wendy’s in Peterborough I found it expensive but excellent quality 👍 thank you for sharing CQ
Good to hear Chris how’s the singing going ?
Thank you Liz. Sorry you didn'y enjoy it!
They are pretty big in Canada too. They just backed off on surge pricing in North America.
The best two things at Wendy’s are the baked potatoes and unlimited refills when dining in.
Still, just like every fast-food restaurant they have gone up in price a lot, the best of the worst.
I didn’t know that Patrick, sorry
I remember Wendy's in the West End on Shaftesbury Avenue - used to love the Salad bar - used to fill up on that for about £5 Cheers Paul
Thank you Paul others remember that restaurant as well 👍
I checked the Wendy's menu here in America, and the Frosty is described as a dessert. So I don't think it is meant to be the consistency of a milkshake. It can be misleading as they give you a straw with it, but I'm pretty sure they also provide a spoon.
Forgo the spoon and try fries😊
Perhaps so. Thank you for watching
Great review Gary, i haven't had wendys since the 80s on oxford st w1. The menu looks very good, especially the jacket,I'll definitely give it a go👍
Thanks John 👍
Gary, the Frostee is not classified as a milkshake. Back in the 50’s North America, there were places known as Malt Shoppes because they used chocolate flavoured malt (a little like Ovaltine) to flavour thick frozen whipped milk and cream. Wendy’s has kept that tradition and it’s the only time I indulge in that kind of thing. They’ve changed their formula a bit in the last decade but it’s still alright. I appreciate the density of it. Quite nice. Thanks again for the post.
Thank you for the information really appreciated 👍
Ah wendys chili, I remember it fondly. I haven’t eaten fast food in many, many years, but when I did, Wendy’s was a favorite. Nice hair cut Gary. Always good to see you! Thanks again
Hello Sandria it was really good and thank you very kind lol ☺️
A couple of things:
Thank you Chris on both points great information 👍
Great review, Gary. I went to that same Wendy's a few weeks back and tried the Guildford as well. Really liked their burger, better than five guys in my opinion, agree could do with tomato etc. Fries have great seasonimg also. Jacket not something I'd usually go for in a burger place but will try next time on your recommendation, it looked good 👌
Thank you the Jacket Potato was really good and a nice change from fries
Always interested to see what you come up with Gary, I'm not a great fast food fan but I don't mind a burger now and again, but unlikely to darken Wendy's doors. Your reviews are always honest and give people like myself an insight into different culinary experiences, thank you and best wishes.
That is very kind Colin thank you 👍
It gets the thumbs 👍 up from me too. Have tried before they closed those years ago, and again recently. Still as tasty, almost homemade. Nice video Gary. Greek food on the horizon maybe? I'm not Greek by the way but love their dishes. Cheers 🍻
That’s excellent Dave. Yes, which Greek dishes would you like me to try?
@@GaryEats I'd recommend dolmades, (meat ones are best)
Small deep fried white bait, backed potatoes with anchovies, beef stifado and maybe grilled skewers of lamb with Greek salad, Gyros and stuffed aubergine or pepper.
Very kind Bruce thank you and spud challenge coming soon
Wendy's is one of my favorites. A great burger joint. You've picked good food there. Go through the entire menu and then give it an evaluation. Although 7.5 out of 10 is fair.
Great to hear!
Thank you so much for the information a great burger in my opinion 💯👌
I find the same with 5 Guys..Really tasty but ultimately very expensive fast food.
I would try based on this but wouldn't be a regular because of the price..
Thanks for another great review Gary
Thank you for watching
It looked a great meal Gary. Was thinking that it was sufficient for two people so in the end it was quite reasonable.
I do like the thought of a spud challenge. The best baked potato I have had was in Turkey where they whip the cooked potato with butter unti lit is light and fluffy and then add the topping of your choice. They were massive!
Thanks for a great review.
I enjoyed it Conor and thank you
i remember when i was young i used to visit Wendys behind Trocadero in London, always been more expensive when compared to Burger King and other fast food places but the quality was always there.
Great video, will look for one now!
Thank you!!
There used to be a help yourself toppings and salad bar so you could really stock up on the extras. I think it was included in the price.
Great video as always Gary, your a breath of fresh air on TH-cam 👏👏👏
Thank you Ryan very kind 👍
I wasn't aware they were here. Glad you enjoyed it. Another brilliant honest review. Thank you Gary.
Thank you very much, Lynn
Great review. My wife and I grew up in Ohio where Dave started out and it’s the only fast food we eat. To be fair about the price, we would have considered each of your items (salad, baconator, and baked potato) each to be a meal by itself. We assume Frosty shakes are what they are and you’re right, chocolate is better. One common American thing is to dip your fries into the frosty. It’s not horribly popular but not uncommon. Finally you would be impressed in learning more about Dave’s childhood, how he came to start the chain and their corporate charity. Very interesting story.
Thank you!! Nice story, thank you.
Would like to see the jacket comparison video Gary. Wendy's looked well worth a visit, the burger looked good as did the chicken salad. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you I will se soon 👍
Excellent as always, thanks Gary
Thank you Peter very kind
That looked really tasty, and regards anemic undercooked bacon I totally agree, not a problem here. I've never tried a Wendy's but will definitely 'give them a go' if there's one nearby. Well regards fast food you've now got to try them all Gary! I don't eat much fast food (just now and again) but I personally would go with KFC for chicken and Burger King for burgers.
Mcdonalds bacon drives me nuts!! Thank you for watching Stephen
Yes to spud challenge Gary. I'm intrigued how a spud can be so expensive. Maybe it's coated in gold leaf!
Challenge accepted. I’m shocked as well, I don’t think people will be happy 😬
That whole thing looked absolutely Delicious and Very reasonably priced too...
You got that right!
There is one in Maidstone. I may have to try it. The salad looks amazing. Like you, i hate undercooked bacon. Did you actually finish the milkshake?
All eaten and shake did eventually melt 👍
never been in there ,it will be another very interesting video to watch , As always... thanks Garry
Thank you Malcolm 👍
When I saw a fast food restaurant review I didn’t expect it would go so well. I’m very impressed.
So was I Mike pleasantly surprised
Excellent video as always, the spud comparison has to be with identical toppings to be fair, and from a personal preference also the skin needs to be judged. When you have hollowed out and consumed the potato - will the skin and a dollop of dressing or butter be a crunchy finish to the meal or is it a limp disappointment that splits and leaks its contents on the plate or table !
Thank you 😄
Thank you Steve making a comeback and spud challenge coming soon 👍
There’s one in Leeds (interestingly in near enough the same location as it was when it shut 20 years ago) been thinking about going in for ages, like you I’m not a big fast food man, but that certainly looks a step up.
It’s worth a visit to be fair
Great combo Gary. Wendy's
is a nice place to enjoy some
fast food once in a while. The
milk shake real seems ice
cream or yogurt more likely.
Right bet on this one mate👌
Thank you Paul thank you mate
Looked great i will try this place great review again Gary 👍
Thank you Craig worth a visit
really like the range of items reviewed here! Good representation of what Wendys offer
Thank you we try our best 👍
I love Wendy's chili. Fun fact - they put chili on the menu to use up their unsold burger patties at the end of the day. Order the sour cream potato and a small cup of chili, so good! The creaminess of the sour cream combines well with the chili. Great video!
That’s very kind, thank you very much and I do like Wendy’s
