When the subject of the Patten was brought up, it brought me back to my roots as an old school altar boy. There was nothing like serving a Mass during a New England winter. Every so often, you touched a Communicant on the neck with the Patten and heard the “snap” of a static shock.

I always loved sacred vessels and the symbolism behind many of them,
    1. Paten, symbolising the manger at the nativity
    2. Corporal, symbolising the burial cloth of Jesus
    3. Chalice veil and ciboria veils representing the sacredness of the offering and the Sacred Species.
    4. Aspergillum, originating from a verse of Psalm 50, 'asperges me domine...' (Sprinkle me O Lord), which is used before the beginning of a Sunday TLM.
    5. Lavabo, the bowl used to wash the priest's fingers, originating from Psalm 26:6-12, the traditional prayer used while washing his hands at offertory, 'Lavabo inter innocentus manus meas....(i will wash my hands among the innocent)
There are so many more vessels out there that help us learn our faith more or even call us to prayer

As a sacristan and acolyte all these vessels are near and dear to me as well.
I treat them with a lot of respect and care. I make sure that they are and stay in pristine shape.
all our vessels are made of brass so maintenance is time consuming but something that I love doing. Sitting in the sacristy polishing them is calming, polishing in front of the High Altar/Tabernacle is even more special.

I realized he was letting me feel the weight of my sins that he felt in the garden, at the scourging, carrying the cross and crucifixion !!!! I felt so guilty and sad. ALWAYS...Why the Church refuses to teach this to its sheep is beyond me, but we must learn from one another since the priest, bishops, deacons etc are NOT teaching this and WE SHOULD ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS RECEIVE ON THE Tongue ...ALWAYS....We MUST pray for the hierarchy who are NOT teaching reverence to our Lord....this is very offensive to our Jesus that they refuse to teach us the TRUTHS...Lord Jesus I offer my fasting tomorrow in repose for the souls of all the priest in the world who dont teach truths. In true love and mercy, Lord forgive them for what they fail to do. Amen.

    For the Immaculate Heart Triumph
"Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death."
"Make and distribute my green scapular as soon as possible, if given with confidence, there will be a great number of sinners converted, especially those souls who do not possess the true religion. They will receive many graces, to help them in finding and keeping the one true faith. Those who die wearing my sacramental green garment will be given a peaceful and happy death, and shall not suffer the eternal fires of hell.
Furthermore, I shall Bless on Earth, every heart who makes my green scapular wear it or spreads devotion to it, for it is My Immaculate Heart, therefore treat it with profound honor and respect. In addition, all who wear or keep about themselves my green scapular badge, are agents of my Immaculate Heart. Hence the evil one is powerless to harm those souls who clothe themselves in my love."

Totally agree all glory and honor be to our Lord Jesus Christ. It is so sad many of the younger peoples were never taught the preciousness and the power and the blessings that are given by our Lord Jesus Christ why you’re going to a Catholic school😩

Ciborium is the singular of ciboria.

It should be noted that this is ROMAN CATHOLIC, and I wish the hosts would have made this distinction. There are items on my Byzantine Catholic parishes altar that are not on the altars of my Roman Catholic brethren, and vice versa.

I've been thinking about what saint I should have as my patron. I've always been an outcast since I was small. So I guess St. Damien De Veuster is what I'm currently leaning towards.

Saint Damien is one of our favorites! But if you like “outsiders” we cannot recommend the Desert Fathers enough. Saints like Anthony, Pachomius, Hilarion, etc

I am interested in the spelling of the vessels...pawl/paul? picks/pix? etc? Thank you and may God bless you beyond your imagination!

Those mean comments were terrible just people who live to make mean things because it makes them feel better about themselves I loved the way the guys handled them by laughing and Sheel calling them dorks! ( in a Christian way of course)

America is a very wealthy country and it is not difficult for priests have their own sacred vessels and vestments. In Africa the Sacred Vessels and Vestments belong to the parish. (The Ciborium has a metal lid.)

Hypothetically, what *would* happen if you were to run out of consecrated hosts during the distribution of the Eucharist?

I have a question to Father Rich about the last supper. About the four gospels, how Judas betrayed Jesus, how Jesus knows why it was Judas and the Kiss of Judas bc there are different writings in scripture. I heard things as silver, taxes, not For filling his prophecy and even it was hard to determine who CHRIST WAS. ? How yeah also Satan was involved with the blood? let me know thank you good show I learned a lot on the last couple shows on what’s goes on the altar in detail and the colors of what the Priests wear.

I do enjoy learning new things regarding the church, but it sometimes comes across as very traditional, I agree with some of the things they've said, but I disagree when one of them says that receiving under both forms of communion isn't necessary, since the onset of the pandemic we haven't received the precious blood. To me receiving the body and blood of Christ is the high point for me.

Interesting! I've only seen a few celebrants with their fingers together & they were Mercedarians. Are all priests supposed to do this?
