Absolutely. They're going to spend way more energy over the next 2 weeks than they would have yesterday. It makes things more entertaining for the fans, though.
Van Aert was the only Visma rider able to stay with Sepp Kuss at the top of the climb: the invincible army Visma was last year is now only a far memory...
They never planned of having such a good Vuelta squad last year since Jonas wasn't going to do the Vuelta. And this year, they sent a respectable team. Kuss simply lost his best climber early on. They didn't even need their domestiques at last season's Vuelta.
Incredible work, I didn't think they would make it without Valter (or any other teammate) in the first group. Amazing to see all the work Kuss did and Wout finishing it off!
One of the reasons that make me choose Visma over UAE, as a team to sympathize for, is exactly their brotherly team spirit. Jorgenson cheering on and supporting Jonas after some tough stages, Jonas gifting a GT to his loyal domestique, a lightweight like Sepp pulling for Wout's sprint...all things you wouldn't see in a team like UAE, full of primadonnas
Guess you didn’t see last year’s Vuelta then 😂 Sepp as GC leader was attacked by his own teammates on multiple stages, and if it wasn’t for Lamda, Roglic and Vingegaard would have sprinted against each other for yellow. And that after Kuss helped them win Giro and Tdf in the same season. Their DS had to intervene. So much for „team spirit“
@@max.exists I would also point out Jonas not pulling for WVA on stage 2 of the Tour de France 2023, even though WVA has been selfless on many occasions. Their brotherly team spirit seems flawed by some individuals
Hey, great video Just so you know porcentaje means percentage, and Porciento means percent, so in this case it would be El Alto del 14 Porcieto, great pronunciation btw I am Ecuadorian and i would love Richard to win this Vuelta but i find it much funnier if O'Connor keeps the red jersey.
well done Wout , very smart move!!! deserved!! 😍😍, don't forget to burn a candle for Sepp Kuss, very smart tactis.......i kove it when a plan comes together , the A-team
Sepp Kuss brings WvA back to business and in the end Vlasov pulls the sprint for WvA. What a great and crazy cross-team collaboration. Whatever BORA was thinking, they were probably inspired by cutting the gap to Ben by 6 seconds!
Great show again and an entertaining stage again. But am still in shock over the inept team management of RB-BH as I doubt Roglic is able to put 5 min into O'Connor - he aint a Pogacar or Vinegaard. He may nibble a bit back here and another bit there but 4:45 min in 14 stages - can't see it
Patrick mentioned to getting Kuss to the Flanders' squad. I remember when Nibali(2018) went to Flanders and was actually in the finale of the race. Just like what WVA said, people dont realize how much power those lightweight guys have to produce to ride Flanders or to pull like what Sepp has done this stage.
This is where we need the old brown/blue/white ag2r livery lighting up the race. Were the brown shorts cursed? Bardet could have won the Tour 10 years ago if only they had changed kit sooner
@@smeetsnoud1 That is what LR thinks, but reality is Vlasov did not look to see who was on his wheel or where Rogla was for 2km. His eyes were front, on that Sivakov 1 second gap.
@Karr1711 Van Eetvelt is close on GC. Better not give him free seconds. I suspect Vlasov wanted to help even if it wasn't particularly useful to make up for his failure to help on the climb.
A stage in the hand for the team now is worth maybe a top-10 GC finish for Sepp later. Sepp doesn't have enough support, with Van Barle gone and Cian not looking good.
@@jonathanamsbary1589 He's saying his legs don't feel well. Another commenter (not here) wondered if he's got issues with his femoral artery, which can be a problem for pro cyclists (e.g. Marianna Vos). But that's just speculation, not an informed medical opinion.
Best Grand Tour of the decade because of mountains and hilly stages flat stages are boring 9 stages at tdf tdf so here is my best blue print for a Grand Tour 3 flat stages 2TT 6 Hilly Stages 1 Gravel 9 Mountains. Small mileage TT like the Vuelta this year
Is there any reason why Wout can’t attack again at any point after the top of the climb? This guy is top five best TTer in the world, among mostly teams who only care about GC. Van Aert solo vs. Küng pulling in the peloton in the last 5 Kms? Van Aert wins, Decathlon doesn’t pull, Bora probably doesn’t pull. Even if Van Aert just attacked when Soler was within twenty seconds, he just wins the sprint
The reason Van Aert doesn't attack is that he wins the bunch sprint if he has any strength left. If he's brought back with 2 kms to go after going all out for 20 kms, he doesn't get any points. If they allow 1 guy to run away and Van Aert wins the sprint from the bunch, he still gets like 25 points. What they did was the best they could having only Kuss and Van Aert up front. Decathlon and Bora (Vlasov protecting his 1s lead from Sivakov) helped them a lot for no apparent reason too.
Seeing Sepp don this tells me two things. He’s an amazing teammate and he’s not there for GC. No way he would have killed him self and burned so much energy. If he was there for GC he would have sat on everyone’s wheel.
I subscribe to your channel but am disappointed by your feeling the need to sensationalise your titles. I listened to WVA interview and to describe as shocked is untrue. Just be a good factual journalist, not the mainstream TH-cam dross who just try to grab attention. Keep up the good coverage. Thanks.
BORA director should resign. Roglic will choke and Kuss out of the top 10. Best Grand Tour of the decade fireworks to come. Never been so many mid level stars contending
Well, if Roglic wins the Vuelta, Red Bull is happy. If Van Aert wins a stage, Red Bull is happy. And so they rode today. Quite surprising that this kind of sponsoring is possible in cycling.
Is there anyway Vlasov chased down Sivakov for Politics?? Sivakov (born in Italy) but citizen of both Russia and France changed riding under the Russian Flag for France in March 2022, the time of the Invasion of Ukraine. Does anyone know if Vlasov is still "chummy" with Sivakov? Perhaps did he chase back an ex-compatriot because he didn't want to see him win and this wasn't about Team Tactics at all? Anyone have any insider knowledge here?
sorry, I really love watching your videos but your placement for Join Cycling doesn’t make sense because it is normal that your sprint peak goes up when you train less. This can be explained with the VLaMax which is going up if you train less and which is your anaerobic turbo. With that you can produce more lactate which is essential for short efforts like a 10 seconds sprint. By doing endurance training chronically you lower that VLaMax which effects your high anaerobic efforts negatively. So your 10s peak probably got better because of a higher VLaMax because you did less training and not because you did special training (could be a reason as well but probably not that effecting)
